110.000!
"Oh my god, are they crazy? A slave being bid up to 110.000? This is practically an astronomical price for a slave!"
"I remember that the highest price for a slave in Pande has only ever reached 100.000, right? But this one has actually been bid up to 110.000?"
"The world of the rich... I don't understand. Even at fifty thousand, I'd find this slave too expensive."
"Let the gods fight, and we mere mortals enjoy the show. We're just here to watch the drama unfold."
The crowd grew larger and larger. Even those who usually had no interest in slave auctions now stood by to watch the spectacle.
The landowner who had been competing with Lin Fan seemed to be hesitating about whether to continue bidding.
"Maybe we should stop. It's already at 110.000—let him have it." The landowner standing behind him tugged at his sleeve.
"110.000 has already broken Pande's historical record. We can let him win the bid."
The bidding landowner, clad in a full suit of iron armor, stared intently at Lin Fan.
"It's only 110.000, why are you panicking?" He rolled his eyes at the landowner behind him.
"Look at his expression—he clearly doesn't see this as a big deal. If we just let him off like this, we're letting him get away too easily!"
"But… what if he suddenly stops bidding?" The landowner behind him furrowed his brows, concern evident in his eyes.
The armored landowner was unfazed.
"He'll definitely keep going. We've been provoking him for so long—there's no way he'll stop at 110.000.
If we're slaughtering the pig, this price isn't high enough yet!"
His gaze darkened as he glared at Lin Fan.
How dare he come to their territory and snatch slaves from them? This time, he had to make sure Lin Fan lost everything!
"120.000!" Ignoring the protests of those around him, the armored landowner raised the bid again.
Lin Fan sat leisurely on his oak chair, looking completely relaxed.
"130.000," he said casually, almost without thinking.
The armored landowner's lips curled into a sinister smile.
"See? I told you—he'd definitely keep going," he said smugly.
But the two landowners behind him were starting to sense that something was wrong.
"130.000 is enough—let Lin Fan have it."
"Yeah, a slave going for 130.000 gold coins… Forget Pande, even at a major slave auction, this price is unheard of."
Both of them were growing uneasy, unwilling to continue bidding.
But the armored landowner had no such concerns.
"Just 130.000? He probably doesn't even care about that amount. What are you two so nervous about?
Besides, he's already said so much—he has to keep bidding for the sake of his reputation. Don't rush; we're far from done here." He spoke with absolute confidence.
After dismissing the two worried landowners, he turned to Pande once again.
"I bid 140.000!"
"Unbelievable! These two must be insane! A single slave going for 140.000?"
"With that much money, they could buy three or four slaves, yet they're fighting over this one. I seriously don't get it."
"So this is the world of the wealthy? I can't comprehend it at all."
Hearing the new bid, Lin Fan chuckled lightly.
Quite bold, daring to bid up to 140.000.
He glanced at the armored landowner. The man stood tall and firm, showing no sign of fear toward Lin Fan.
But the two landowners behind him? The moment they met Lin Fan's gaze, they quickly averted their eyes, unable to hold his stare.
Seeing this, Lin Fan understood most of the situation.
Clearly, this entire plan was the armored landowner's idea. As for the two landowners behind him? They had probably just been tricked into going along with it.
Lin Fan could roughly guess what was going on. The three landowners had likely come to an agreement: if anything went wrong, they would all share the cost of this auction.
Otherwise, the two landowners behind the armored landowner wouldn't be so anxious.
Seeing that Lin Fan hadn't spoken for a while, the armored landowner turned to him.
"What's wrong? You don't dare to bid anymore? Weren't you bragging about how money is the least of your concerns?" He raised an eyebrow, staring at Lin Fan.
Lin Fan remained calm.
"Why wouldn't I dare? It's true—I have no shortage of money."
He looked at Pande.
"150,000."
Gasps echoed through the crowd.
"He's still bidding?!"
"150,000 gold coins? I've never even seen that much money in my entire life!"
"Tsk tsk, spending this much on a single slave—I don't know what they're thinking."
"They're just betting out of spite at this point."
"If you're going to gamble, fine, but don't gamble with money like this."
The spectators glanced between Lin Fan and the armored landowner with a mix of awe and disbelief.
Lin Fan sat comfortably on his oak sofa, his expression indifferent as he gazed at his opponent.
"Are you bidding or not? If not, I'm taking the slave."
The armored landowner, who had been hesitating, could no longer sit still after hearing those words.
"Bid! Why wouldn't I bid?"
As soon as he spoke, the two landowners behind him panicked, grabbing his arm in desperation.
"Stop! It's already at 150,000 gold coins! Can you even afford this?"
"Exactly! A single slave for 150,000 gold coins—what kind of madness is this?"
The two tried to hold him back, but having been provoked by Lin Fan, the armored landowner refused to back down.
With so many people watching, he couldn't afford to lose face, could he?
"160,000!"
Shock rippled through the crowd.
"You've lost your mind!" The two landowners behind him nearly collapsed in their seats.
Spending 160,000 gold coins on a single slave was unheard of.
And what if Lin Fan didn't continue bidding? How much would they be on the hook for?
Even if they split the cost three ways, each of them would owe over 50,000 gold coins—enough to bankrupt them!
The armored landowner shot them a disdainful glance.
"Calm down, will you? You're embarrassing yourselves." He was growing irritated with them.
He had been enjoying his moment of showing off, but these cowards were ruining it.
"He'll definitely bid again. Didn't he say he has to take this slave home? There's no way he'd back out over a measly 10,000 gold coins." He waved dismissively.
"But—"
"No buts. One last round. If he bids again, I'll stop." The armored landowner cut them off, making his promise.
This reassured the two landowners slightly, but they were still nervous. What if Lin Fan really doesn't bid again?
Lin Fan, meanwhile, remained relaxed, sitting back on his oak sofa.
Pande, holding the auction hammer, was so excited his hand was trembling.
"Will there be another bid?" Pande eagerly asked Lin Fan.
Lin Fan said nothing.
Pande raised his hammer.
"160,000—going once!"
At this moment, the armored landowner was stunned.
"What are you doing? Keep bidding! Why aren't you bidding?!"
Lin Fan sat in his seat, humming a little tune, completely unbothered.
"160,000—going twice!"
"You have to bid! Didn't you say you had to take this slave home?!" The armored landowner was starting to panic.
Lin Fan remained silent.
The two landowners beside him felt their hearts leap into their throats.
"No way— you're not going to bid?" The armored landowner tried to goad him, but his voice was shaking.
Lin Fan remained motionless.
"160,000—sold!"
