Chapter 70 - Chapter 70: The Last Thing I Lack is Money

Pande was right—an auction is all about the highest bid winning. Since Lin Fan could offer more than them, he deserved to win the slaves.

As for the others, unless they could outbid Lin Fan, what right did they have to complain?

Pande snapped back at the disgruntled landowners, and they fell silent, not knowing what to say.

After all, his logic was undeniable. Auctions were about the highest bidder winning—they couldn't just ban Lin Fan from participating just because he had more money.

The crowd cast resentful glances at Lin Fan, their minds racing.

Their biggest concern now was—if Lin Fan could really afford to spend 600,000 gold coins, they might not be able to buy a single slave today.

Lin Fan casually pulled 30,000 gold coins from his backpack and handed them to Pande.

Pande grinned from ear to ear, happily accepting the payment before immediately handing the slave over to Lin Fan.

Just like that, Pande's attitude toward Lin Fan completely changed.

For Pande, money was king—and Lin Fan? Lin Fan was basically a god.

The auction continued, and one by one, the next three slaves were all claimed by Lin Fan.

By now, the complaints in the crowd grew louder.

"How are we supposed to buy slaves if he's here?"

"Yeah! He keeps bidding so high, we can't win anything!"

"My farm just expanded, and my wife insisted I buy a slave today!"

"Same here! But this kid's bids are way beyond my budget!"

The murmurs of dissatisfaction grew louder, and even the landowners looked frustrated.

Yet, none of them noticed three particular landowners in the back, whispering among themselves.

After a while, they exchanged knowing nods and turned their gazes toward Pande once more.

Lin Fan, seated at the very front, didn't even bother turning around.

Instead, he simply smiled faintly.

Casually, he placed three oak stair blocks on the ground, arranging them into a makeshift sofa, and sat back comfortably, waiting for the next round of the auction.

The next slave was another male, with a strong physique.

Though not as imposing as Lordson, he was still more muscular than the previous ones.

His starting price was 15,000 gold coins, and as Pande announced the start of bidding, the landowners once again resumed their usual meticulous, small increments.

Lin Fan listened to their slow, cautious bids, then smiled lightly.

"50,000 gold."

The entire crowd gasped in shock.

Another 30,000 gold jump? Is he even giving us a chance?!

Lin Fan had already won five slaves—and yet, he still had money left.

At this point, nobody could even fathom how wealthy he truly was.

"Any higher bids?" Pande asked, his eyes shining with excitement.

Regardless of anything else, today was already his most profitable day ever.

Seeing that no one spoke, Pande raised his hammer.

"50,000 gold coins, going once—"

"60,000 gold!"

Before Pande could finish, a new bid rang out from the back.

His eyes instantly lit up.

Someone was challenging Lin Fan?

That meant the price would climb even higher!

Which meant even more profit for him!

Pande, thrilled, slammed his hammer down and eagerly turned to Lin Fan.

"60,000 gold! What about you, young man? Do you want to bid higher?"

Lin Fan simply smiled and turned his gaze toward the new bidder.

Who was this guy?

Turns out, it was just one of those landowners who had been whispering behind him earlier.

A straight jump to 60,000 gold coins—did this guy even have that much money?

Lin Fan stayed silent for a moment, and the landowner who had placed the bid smirked.

"What's wrong, kid? Scared to bid now?" His smug expression amused Lin Fan.

"Why would I be scared?" Lin Fan leaned back in his oakwood chair, completely at ease.

"If there's one thing I lack, it's certainly not money."

Did you hear that?

Did you hear what this man just said?!

Lacks everything except money?!

When would they ever have the confidence to say something like that?!

The crowd sighed in envy, their gazes fixed on Lin Fan.

There he sat, completely relaxed, not even treating that landowner as a serious competitor.

"70,000 gold." He called out calmly.

The entire auction hall gasped again.

"70,000 for a slave? That's an insane price!"

"How rich is he? He's treating gold like it's nothing!"

"70,000 just for one slave? This is unheard of!"

The murmurs of disbelief spread through the crowd.

The landowner, seeing Lin Fan continue bidding, let out a mocking chuckle.

"I'd love to see how much you can actually afford." He turned to Pande and raised his bid.

"80,000."

"Whoa—!" The entire crowd erupted into shocked exclamations.

All eyes were now on the landowner.

"Are you insane?! 80,000 for a slave?!"

"Yeah! Don't just bid out of spite! You can't outbid this kid—80,000 isn't a small amount!"

"Don't be stubborn! Let's just leave the slaves to this young man!"

The crowd tried to talk some sense into him, but the landowner shook his head dismissively.

"Sure, I may not be as rich as him, but I have some capital. I refuse to believe he can keep bidding forever."

His determined expression made it seem like he was dead set on winning this.

Lin Fan, watching this ridiculous act, couldn't help but smile.

"Didn't I just say? The last thing I lack is money."

He chuckled mockingly, then turned to Pande.

"90,000."

"They've lost their minds! 90,000 for a slave?!"

"An auction's an auction, but this has turned into a bidding war! They're just throwing money at each other now!"

"You can argue with people—but don't argue with money!"

The crowd was in complete shock, but Pande?

Pande was ecstatic.

The higher the bid, the more he profited.

He was absolutely loving this.

The landowner, seeing Lin Fan still raising the bid, chuckled as well.

"Not bad." He gave Lin Fan a sideways glance before looking at Pande again.

"100,000."

Lin Fan shrugged indifferently and was about to raise the bid again when Lordson suddenly leaned in and whispered.

"He doesn't actually have the money. He's just trying to bait you into bidding higher."

"Don't fall for it—it's not worth it."

Lordson's sudden warning took Lin Fan by surprise.

Of course, he had already seen through the landowner's act—but he hadn't expected Lordson to warn him.

His gaze toward Lordson became more thoughtful.

Then, he simply patted Lordson's hand, signaling him not to worry.

"Relax. I know what I'm doing."

He then turned to Pande once more.

"110,000."
