(Kael POV)
He's right, of course. But still, I hesitate.
Astrid notices and pulls back slightly, her brows furrowed. "Are you okay?"
I gently rub her cheek with my thumb. "Yeah. I'm more than okay."
"Do you not want to do this?" I feel the flicker of fear and hurt coming off her.
I pull her tightly against me. "Oh, Astrid. You have no idea how much I want this."
She still seems unsure, so I take her hand and place it over the very obvious evidence straining against my pants. Even with my sudden pause, I'm as hard as I've ever been. "I want you more than you could possibly know."
"Then why did you stop?"
"Yeah, I'd like an answer to that too, moron. We were THIS close," Luke growls.
I sigh and sit on the edge of her bed, pulling Astrid into my lap.
"Once we do this—and once we mark each other everything changes," I begin.
"Like what?"
"There's a prophecy…"
"What prophecy?"
"I can't tell you."
