It's as I'm making my way down to help with the breakfast early the next morning that I realize something is wrong. Or that something must've happened. It isn't because of anything dramatic. More than the fact that we women aren't the only ones awake, but most of the men too. I can hear their voices in their rooms and down in the hallway.
Someone has turned all the lights on, so it feels much later in the morning instead of it still being early enough that it's still dark outside. As I descend the stairs, I try to listen in on what's going on, but I can't make sense of the hushed voices.
Ivy is still in an identical nightdress to the ones I'm wearing, as she stands in the hallway, gazing toward Nolan's office, where some of his enforcers are huddled outside, talking in low voices.
Although more of the pack stand about in sweats and PJs, my gaze goes to the front door which an enforcer is standing in front of, as if to prevent anyone from leaving.
