As Nolan's crackling fireplace serves as the background to our dinner later that night, it's a struggle to hide my despondency about how little I achieved today.
Nolan bought me a pretty dress and expensive necklace, and all it did, whether or not he intended it, was drive the rest of the women further away from me.
I thought it would be easy to convince them that Nolan was such a terrible alpha that anyone would be better than him. That all we needed to do was work together, then we could replace him with someone more worthy of the title.
I'd hoped some of the omegas would join their gifts with mine so we could use it to defeat Nolan, but I learned that even here, my gift is rare. That I'm alone in being able to use my emotions as a weapon.
So, as we cooked and cleaned and folded laundry, I moved about talking with the women, doing all I could to convince them to just work together. That this isn't what a pack should be.
None of them would listen.
