Chapter 261 - Fairy Queen

At this moment, Gardevoir truly embodied the image of a fairy queen, the real deal. You could tell from the trembling form of the black shadow before her that it was no longer putting on a show; it was genuinely scared.

With the moon's power at level 95 and Gardevoir's special attack stat were boosted, 1.5 times the original, and the misty field's bonus, her moonlight power reached an incredible level. Even so, Mega Gardevoir carefully controlled her strength to avoid causing the cave to collapse from the sheer force of her attack. Amid the black shadow's constant trembling, the radiant pinkish moonlight struck swiftly.

The shining moonlight seemed invincible. The black arrows, once suspended in the air by Mega Gardevoir, shattered into fragments of death aura upon contact and scattered like a defeated army in chaos.

"Geng ngar! Geng ngar!" Gengar nearby seized the chance to absorb the scattered death aura, swallowing them eagerly and converting the energy into a surge of experience points, filling up his experience bar. It was clear Gengar was enjoying the feast immensely. Although Marshadow wasn't fond of it, the death aura from the Dark Sonata chapter were a top-tier delicacy for him.

The unstoppable lunar power hit the black shadow directly, causing it to dissolve instantly in the brilliant moonlight. All the gathered death aura vanished completely, and ultimately, none escaped the fate of being devoured by Gengar. As Larry's first Pokémon, today Gardevoir had finally returned to his team in full strength!

After consuming the massive resentment of Jade and the death aura from the Dark Sonata's Harp chapter, Gengar successfully evolved from an S-level to an S+ level Pokémon, becoming the second S+ level Pokémon under Larry's command. When Larry first learned about Gengar's unique ability, he had a feeling this promotion would come sooner rather than later.

Whether it's the Six Continents or the Dark Continent, substances like death aura are everywhere. You could say that Gengar's "experience candy" is all around. Later, they discovered that this ability is unique to ghost-type Pokémon, they can absorb negative energy to grow stronger.

Marshadow looked down on things like this, thinking that the Mega Sabbleye didn't have the same potential as Gengar. So, most of the death aura were absorbed by Gengar, which helped it evolve to the current S+ level. If Larry had to pick the most important Pokémon on his team, Gengar would definitely be one of them.

As the last bit of death aura entered Gengar's stomach, the shadowy figure vanished completely, and no death aura were left floating around. All that remained was a misty haze that hadn't fully cleared. Someone unfamiliar with the situation might even think it was a peaceful fairyland, which made it hard to believe it was once a deadly place filled with darkness and terror.

Satotz twisted his curly beard and muttered to Larry, clearly impressed. He'd known from the start that Larry was powerful, whether it was the steel beast, defeating President Netero, or his performance in the Sky Arena, everything showed that Larry's strength was beyond imagination. But then Satotz asked, with a trembling voice, "Does the beast have a second form?"

It was one thing for a beast to transform, but what if every nen beast could? Suddenly, Satotz remembered a moment from live broadcast, he'd seen the gas beast behind Larry seemingly transform into Gengar. The change wasn't dramatic, since Gengar's appearance before and after its Mega Evolution didn't differ much.

Pyon quietly looked at Larry but didn't respond to Satotz's question. When she and Ging explored the Death Cave together, Gengar had transformed right in front of them, and Pyon had the same suspicion as Satotz back then.

Today, that suspicion was confirmed. If Gengar's transformation was an exception, then Gardevoir's transformation made exceptions even less likely. Maybe… each of Larry's nen beast truly has its own transformation ability!

Not only had Gengar's appearance changed, but his aura and strength had improved as well. He touched his now enlarged belly, feeling a comfortable fullness after his meal. His scarlet eyes curved into a smile, and a grin spread across his face without him even realizing it. The belly, swollen from the death aura, was digesting rapidly and steadily shrinking right before his eyes.

From the shadows, little Marshadow watched Gengar laugh and enjoy his food. Seeing his good friend eat so heartily made Marshadow's cute face soften with sympathy.

If even this kind of food tasted so delicious to Gengar, how bad must his usual meals be? Determined by the sight of his friend eating so "badly," Marshadow silently vowed to find better, tastier food for Gengar in the future.

Nearby, Larry glanced at his own shadow, then at Gengar, his mouth twitching slightly as if unsure what to say. The difference between the two was just too great.

The Dark Sonata was undoubtedly one of the top dark items across the six continents, but even something like this death aura couldn't impress Marshadow. If they wanted to truly pique his interest, they'd have to head to the Dark Continent.

Turning his attention back to the three items in front of him, Larry focused on the violin chapters first. There had been two before, but now only one was worth mentioning, the other was a mummy used by the Dark Sonata to possess, which was useless to him.

The harp chapter was similar; it also included a corpse, which held no value for Larry. What really caught his eye were two other items.

One was a crucial musical score for the Dark Sonata, an oddly yellowed piece of paper made from an unknown material. The score itself was deliberately distorted, and just looking at it made ordinary people feel dizzy, as if their souls were being drawn into the paper. Clearly, this was the sheet music for the harp chapter of the Dark Sonata, and with it, Larry had now collected half of the entire piece.

At that moment, the gestation bar in Larry's mind, symbolizing the progress of the Dark Sonata, had reached the halfway mark and then stalled. To complete it, he would need to obtain the remaining two Dark Sonata pieces.

Like last time, this score had the ability to amplify ghost-related abilities. After some thought, Larry decided to give it to Gengar.
