Chapter 260 - Mega Gardevoir

This scene felt all too familiar to Larry. He remembered how the violin shadow reacted the same way. Unfortunately, no matter what he did back then, the ending was always bleak. This time, Gengar's job was to clean up the mess by absorbing the death aura, while the responsibility for attacking fell to the lovely wife beast, Gardevoir.

Larry thought back to when Gardevoir was his first Pokémon, the one that helped him earn his very first "pot of gold." But as his Pokémon grew stronger, Gardevoir lost her main role early on.

Usually, she only used instant teleportation for short-distance moves and relied on Porygon Z's spatial movement for longer distances. When it came to attacking, she rarely appeared except in group battles where she served as a turret.

After battling through Devil Cicada, and the Soul Army, Gardevoir finally reached S-rank, becoming one of the top powerhouses across the six continents. More importantly, she could now use her stunning Mega Evolution!

Gardevoir was no longer just a support Pokémon; she could take the lead as a main attacker. The upcoming battle against the black shadow would be Gardevoir's first as a Mega Evolution!

With the souls cleared away by the Pokémon, darkness fell over the cave. In the eerie darkness, only Larry's footsteps echoed loudly, breaking the silence unnaturally.

The black shadow noticed that the Hydreigon remained still, not following, while Larry confidently strode toward him, his swagger adding a hint of boldness to his impending sneak attack. Satotz, trailing behind, opened his mouth to warn Larry but quickly thought better of it, this wasn't his place to intervene.

Larry must have been completely sure of his move. Just as that thought crossed Satotz's mind, the atmosphere suddenly shifted.

When Larry got close enough, the black shadow, curled tightly like a ball, suddenly unleashed a terrifying aura. A chilling wind carried countless dead aura, swirling ominously around him.

The shadow's human-like hands rested firmly on the harp, and then came the violent plucking, each one harder and louder than before, as if trying to snap the strings. The music pierced the air at an unbearably high pitch, sharp enough to slice through the heart.

This wasn't just playing the harp anymore; if Larry had to describe it, it was more like drawing a bow. The harp, surrounded by dark death aura, transformed in Larry's mind into a sinister bow.

In an instant, a torrent of death aura gathered before the harp, suddenly forming a volley of ink-black arrows. These arrows looked incredibly lifelike, from their lethal tips to the delicate feathers, as if crafted by a master artisan.

Just looking at them was enough to make ordinary people feel their hearts pierced. So, it was a bow and arrow attack?

Larry's surprise grew as the arrows shot toward him at lightning speed. He had expected the harp's attack to be similar to the violin, forming sword-like death aura, but instead, it took the form of bows and arrows.

It seemed each Dark Sonata weapon had a unique attack style: the violin unleashed sword-like death aura, the harp fired deathly arrows, but what about the piano and flute? Perhaps spears or something else entirely?

A relentless storm of black arrows rained down on Larry, this was the black shadow's final trump card. It was going all out, pouring nearly all its deadly energy into this one devastating attack.

Larry either fell under a rain of arrows or died in the process! Judging by the fact that the thought beast absorbed the death aura, this person clearly had some way to defeat it.

Unfortunately, the attack was already being guarded against by the nearby Gardevoir. Almost immediately, Gardevoir's body was engulfed in a powerful aura, and the aura in the sky stopped the black arrows in their tracks. Bathed in dazzling white light, Gardevoir's form shifted and suddenly grew larger for a moment.

When the white light faded, Gardevoir's new form stood before Larry, no, it was more accurate to call it Mega Gardevoir now! Unlike the typical mega-evolved Gardevoir, the most noticeable change was in its lower body. Its skirt had become much larger, and its demeanor shifted from that of an elegant lady to a noble one.

The aura surrounding it grew more intense, blending grace with raw power in every movement. It was a perfect mix of stunning beauty and overwhelming strength. This was Gardevoir's Mega Evolution form, marked by its fairy-like skin and commanding presence.

Gardevoir, a Psychic and Fairy-type Pokémon, boasts an impressive strength rating of S. After Mega Evolution, its Special Attack skyrockets, placing it among the top Pokémon in terms of Special Attack power.

This means any long-range move from Mega Gardevoir hits with devastating force. As Mega Gardevoir called out solemnly, its sweet, bell-like voice echoed through the cave.

The pink glow surrounding its body intensified, wrapping it in a radiant pink veil that added to its charm. Already at S-level, Mega Gardevoir's power temporarily surged even higher.

Thanks to its Fairy Skin ability, when it uses normal-type moves, they transform into Fairy-type and receive a 20% power boost. This unique trait makes Gardevoir's attacks even more formidable.

Around Mega Gardevoir, sparkles of pink light spread rapidly, as if an invisible hand was pushing them outward to fill the entire cave. The space was soon bathed in shimmering pink light, turning the once dark and eerie cavern into a magical fairyland.

This was the effect of the Fairy-type move Misty Terrain, which not only prevents status conditions and halves the power of Dragon-type moves but also enhances the strength of Fairy-type attacks.

With the Misty Terrain active, Mega Gardevoir's next moves were poised to be even more powerful, Moonblast . Raising its head, a flash of pink light gleamed in its gem-like eyes as swirling pink energy formed an enormous shape in the air, something that seemed impossible to appear in an underground cave.

Pyon stared in awe, her pupils narrowing as she exclaimed, "Is that... the moon?!"

Inside Mega Gardevoir's light pink eyes, a bright moon appeared, filling its pupils completely. The cave transformed into a fairyland, illuminated by the glowing moon, a sign of the powerful Fairy-type move Moonblast, ready to unleash its full might.

Mega Gardevoir stood gracefully in the fairyland created by the misty surroundings, with a bright moon glowing softly in the sky, its light shining at about 80% intensity. The gentle moonlight bathed her delicate face and pure white skirt, making her look like a fairy who had descended into the mortal world.

There was an ethereal freshness all around her, which naturally made anyone nearby feel a bit overwhelmed. Her beauty was tangible yet untouchable, a rare kind of elegance that felt both close and distant.
