Chapter 198: Humanity's Counterattack

A B-2 stealth bomber streaked across the sky above Godzilla's head.

"Oxygen Destroyer, deployed!"

"Ten... nine... eight... seven..."

Godzilla ignored the approaching aircraft as it had countless times before, intending to brush them off as insignificant.

Then—

A missile detonated right above its head.

BOOOOM!!!

A massive cavity effect followed, instantly decomposing all oxygen within the blast radius—including the oxygen inside Godzilla's body.

That familiar sensation made Godzilla's eyes widen in an instant, and it let out a deep, guttural roar.

In retaliation, it unleashed a blazing atomic breath toward the retreating B-2 bomber.

The bomber's pilots never expected Godzilla to counterattack so quickly. Before they could evade, the beam struck them squarely. It was as if they had been hit by a nuclear explosion equivalent to a hundred million tons of TNT.

The aircraft shattered on impact—most of its structure instantly vaporized, while the remaining fragments were blasted away to parts unknown.

"Cough... cough... cough...!!"

Godzilla wheezed violently. The original Oxygen Destroyer had been capable of leaving it severely weakened for years. But now—having grown far stronger—the attack merely inflicted heavy damage.

Its body was already rapidly regenerating.

Just then—

Humanity's mechanical colossus appeared!

Standing at 100 meters tall, it was a true titan, finally possessing the scale necessary to battle Godzilla head-on.

If possible, humanity would have built it even larger. The energy samples they had extracted from the Hollow Earth were sufficient to power an even more massive machine. But while energy concerns had been addressed, materials science remained a bottleneck.

With insufficient material strength, a larger mech would simply collapse under its own weight.

Moreover, relying solely on hydraulic actuators would have made the machine unbearably sluggish. To solve this, humans integrated Ghidorah's biological tissue to create synthetic neural muscles, vastly improving agility. Its frame wasn't simply welded or riveted together—that wouldn't hold up.

After all, this machine was built to fight Titan-class behemoths.

Supercomputer simulations had shown that a single melee strike between such creatures could generate tens of thousands of tons of force. If conventional welding and rivets were used, the mech's frame would collapse after just a few blows.

To counteract this, humanity adopted laser sintering technology, using high-energy lasers to fuse powdered alloys into ultra-durable structural components.

As for weaponry?

There was no conventional weapon capable of truly defeating Godzilla. Even battleship artillery was virtually useless against its reinforced hide.

However, after years of research on Godzilla—and leveraging insights gained from Ghidorah—humanity had devised an ultimate weapon originally intended for Mechagodzilla:

Proton Scream!

A concentrated burst of energy, delivering an output between 10²⁰ and 10²¹ electron volts (eV) per square centimeter.

The Proton Scream was capable of disrupting atomic nuclei, unleashing immense heat and triggering nuclear fission upon impact. A high-energy proton beam like this could theoretically bypass even Godzilla's adaptive dermal armor.

Despite its naturally increasing durability with size, this level of concentrated energy output was calculated to penetrate its defenses.

To further enhance close-quarters combat, the mech was also equipped with limb-mounted pulse boosters, originally developed for Mechagodzilla. This allowed it to deliver devastating melee strikes.

Still, humans weren't content with just fists. They gave their creation a true melee weapon:

The Lightning Spear!

Also known as—"Zeus' Thunder."

Throughout myth, gods-turned-giants often wielded lightning spears, with tridents merely serving as finishing blows.

And humanity revered the power of lightning—violent, powerful, and awe-inspiring.

Thus, they forged a 100-meter-long spear, its needle-like 20-meter tip designed for maximum penetration.

At its core was a mystical energy reactor extracted from the Hollow Earth, generating thousands of degrees of electricity per strike!

Though this might seem low, in reality:

A single lightning bolt carries energy equivalent to several hundred kilowatt-hours.

The average lightning bolt releases around one billion joules of energy.

While this number sounds astronomical, a single kWh (kilowatt-hour) is 3.6 million joules—making it more tangible.

Lightning temperatures range between 17,000°C and 28,000°C, 3–5 times hotter than the Sun's surface!

The sheer thermal expansion of air caused by this heat generates shockwaves—hence, thunder.

The estimated power of one lightning bolt:

Voltage: 1 million to 100 million volts

Instantaneous current: 100,000+ amps

Temperature: ~20,000°C

Discharge duration: 0.01–0.001 seconds

Instantaneous power output: 250 million kilowatts

When the Lightning Spear discharged upon impact, it could potentially pierce straight through Godzilla's hide!

However, aside from stab-based attacks, the spear had no secondary functions.

Due to its shape, it couldn't withstand lateral forces, making it unsuitable for slashing or sweeping strikes. Additionally, prolonged high temperatures would inevitably affect the integrity of its metal composition.

Inside a deep underground military base, humanity's elite team prepared to launch their masterpiece.

Ghidorah's preserved skull was linked to dozens of human operators, acting as a biological supercomputer to handle the mech's massive neural load.

Each operator was assigned a different limb, coordinating in perfect synchronization through direct neural interfaces.

Together, they moved as one.

"Humanity's counterattack begins today!"

The Mecha Titan raised its Lightning Spear—aiming directly at Godzilla.

"ROOOOOAAAARRR!!!"

Emerging from the devastation of the Oxygen Destroyer, Godzilla—though slightly disoriented—would never retreat from a challenge.

With a thunderous stomp, it charged toward the Mecha Titan.

Its sheer size and momentum exuded an overwhelming presence—like a rampaging grizzly bear, charging headlong at its foe.
