Immediately Mason heard his grandfather's last words, his heart skipped. Panic shot through his chest like lightning.
"I'm on my way now!" Mason shouted, ending the call before his grandfather could say more.
He raced to the garage, jumped into his car, and sped off like a man possessed.
'No... Grandpa can't be dying. Not now. Not when everything is already falling apart. First Anastasia, now this?' Mason thought, his grip tightening around the steering wheel.
In less than fifteen minutes, he arrived at his grandfather's mansion. He rushed in, his chest heaving, heart pounding.
He swung open the door to his grandfather's room, only to see the old man sitting comfortably, snacking on crackers and sipping wine.
'Am I dreaming or seeing things?' Mason briefly thought in shock and astonishment.
Mason stood frozen. "Grandpa? You said you were dying, and here you are... having snacks?"
