Chapter 551 - Chapter 551: Searching for the Three-Tails' Chakra

Chapter 551: Searching for the Three-Tails' Chakra

A thousand years ago, Isshiki Ōtsutsuki and Kaguya Ōtsutsuki descended upon the planet.

The former was the master, the one to be protected; the latter was the servant, the protector.

Within the Ōtsutsuki clan, Isshiki's status was higher than Kaguya's. According to the clan's rules, Kaguya was supposed to be a sacrifice, willingly allowing herself to be devoured by the Ten-Tails to become essential nourishment for the God Tree to bear a Chakra Fruit. Unfortunately, Kaguya launched a sudden, fatal sneak attack on Isshiki, then offered him to the Ten-Tails instead.

Isshiki managed a last-ditch escape, but half of his body and most of his chakra were completely devoured.

The foundation of the Ten-Tails was the planet's entire chakra, but what allowed it to sublimate into the God Tree was that half of Isshiki's body.

When the Sage of Six Paths became the Ten-Tails' jinchuriki, his own body didn't change at all because he was already a pure-blooded Ōtsutsuki.

However, when Madara Uchiha and Obito Uchiha became the Ten-Tails' jinchuriki, their appearances changed dramatically. This was due to the influence of Isshiki's cells.

Of course, Ino hoped her own body would evolve in the direction of the Ōtsutsuki clan, but she didn't want to end up with a strange appearance with two horns growing out of her head. That was truly unattractive.

She could only allow her cells to adjust bit by bit.

If growing horns was unavoidable, she hoped to have a style like Kaido or Yamato from the other story, not the bizarrely shaped horns of Momoshiki or Kinshiki.

She had the little fox simulate the Ten-Tails through a different path, gathering the chakra of the nine Tailed Beasts to upgrade it into a new power. This power originated from the Ten-Tails and, having been absorbed and used by two of its jinchuriki, Kaguya and the Sage of Six Paths, could be called Ten-Tails Chakra or the Power of Six Paths.

This version of the Six Paths Power was more violent, focused on increasing raw strength, whereas the power the Sage had given Ino seemed to lean more towards longevity. Their directions were different, but they shared the same root and were essentially the same.

The little fox was a Tailed Beast and a natural container for Tailed Beast chakra. Ino was not. Taking in this higher-level chakra, which also had violent properties, made her extremely uncomfortable.

Ino's breathing became a little heavy, her eyes turned blood-red, instantly entering her Sharingan state, and a fine layer of sweat beaded on her forehead.

The way she looked at Karin held a primitive, wild glint.

Karin was taken aback. Wow, such a strong reaction. She's not going to do something bad to me, is she? Should I resist a little before giving in, or just give in directly?

The fan-favorite scenario, however, was not meant to be. The amount of Six Paths Power was too small. After overcoming the initial discomfort and suppressing the restlessness of her Sharingan, Ino fused this trace of power originating from the Ten-Tails with the Six Paths Power already in her body.

It was a joyous occasion. For almost a year, her Six Paths Power had been constantly depleting with no replenishment. Seeing that small amount of chakra dwindling, she had been very worried. Now, she finally had a stable source.

She took a bath at Karin's place, changed into light robes, and watched as the little fox devoured another trace of the Three-Tails' chakra from Samehada, mixing it into Ten-Tails Chakra.

This time, she was mentally prepared, and the discomfort of absorbing the energy was much less. Only the sleeve of her top was torn apart by the violent chakra in her body.

"Are you okay?" Karin helped wipe her sweat and offered her water, hovering close. Ino couldn't help but roll her eyes.

"What could possibly happen? You think I'm going to lose control and have my way with you right here?"

"You can, you can!"

"You can, my foot!"

After absorbing the Six Paths Power twice, the chakra she gained was less than what she had consumed helping the little fox fuse the nine Tailed Beasts' chakra.

This energy was simply too volatile. After absorbing it, her entire body felt uncomfortable.

If absorbing a single trace of chakra was this difficult, what about a whole Ten-Tails?

Not just anyone could become the Ten-Tails' jinchuriki.

Madara Uchiha already had the potential to awaken the Rinnegan and was the reincarnation of Indra. Becoming the Ten-Tails' jinchuriki probably didn't take much effort for him.

In comparison, Obito was far inferior.

After entering Six Paths Sage Mode, he just stood there in a daze, and his own consciousness was nearly torn apart.

Ino estimated she wouldn't fare much better.

This couldn't be rushed; it had to be done slowly.

How to absorb it safely was one problem; the little fox's food was another.

The chakra of the nine Tailed Beasts wouldn't appear out of thin air. You couldn't bury the Eight-Tails and Nine-Tails in the ground and expect a whole bunch of them to grow by next autumn.

Energy is conserved; it is neither created nor destroyed.

Whether it was called Ten-Tails Power or Six Paths Power didn't matter. The primary condition was to have the chakra of the nine Tailed Beasts to feed the little fox.

Ino still had some chakra from the One, Two, Four, Five, Seven, Eight, and Nine-Tails. But she had very little of the Six-Tails', and the Three-Tails' chakra was limited to what was inside Samehada. She was like a skilled housewife trying to cook without rice.

Even if she let the little fox eat Samehada, the amount of Three-Tails' chakra the sword could provide was extremely limited.

There were two solutions now. One was to go to the eastern sea and find the small fish that often swam around the Three-Tails. Samehada was lucky and talented; it had gained sentience after consuming the Three-Tails' chakra, only to be caught by the Second Mizukage of the Hidden Mist, skinned, and made into a ninja sword...

If Samehada could eat the Three-Tails' chakra, other fish naturally could too. Going fishing in the eastern sea should yield some fish that had consumed the Three-Tails' chakra.

However, this method seemed too low-brow and time-consuming to Ino.

The other method was the old-fashioned way: using her connections to find "people" in the afterlife.

Every action leaves a trace. The souls of former jinchuriki, like Rin Nohara, the Fourth Mizukage, and even the Three-Tails' jinchuriki from the Warring States period before the era of ninja villages, would have some residual Tailed Beast chakra. A little from here and there would add up to a considerable amount.

Ino didn't adopt this method either, again for the reason that it was too slow.

At this point, she understood the Sage of Six Paths' intention. She took out the turtle-shaped treasured tool, the Plough.

"Yo!" The turtle raised its right claw and greeted her.

Ino: "..."

Why does that greeting sound so much like Kakashi's?

She gestured for Karin to go to sleep without waiting for her, then adjusted the time and traveled to the eastern sea of three days ago to find the Three-Tails.

The chakra required to travel a thousand years was completely different from the chakra needed to travel three days.

She could provide this amount of consumption herself.

"Please remember, do not change anything that has already happened in any way. Also, you must not reveal your identity, and you must not be seen by anyone from that time," the treasured tool Plough earnestly instructed her.

Ino nodded solemnly, putting on a spiral mask and the Akatsuki's black cloak with red clouds. "Don't worry, I'm very experienced at this."
