"Rooaar!!"

"Rooarl!!"

The moment Garchomp took the field, its eyes locked onto the opposing Dragonite with fierce excitement. Dragonite returned the intense gaze—two powerful Dragon-type Pokémon, their first meeting already sparking with rivalry.

"Trainer Liam has completed his Pokémon switch! Both sides are ready—begin the battle!"

"Garchomp! Dragonite can't move right now! Rush in with Dual Chop!"

The moment the referee's voice rang out, Liam swiftly commanded.

Garchomp blinked in surprise before letting out a deep growl. Its sharp forefins surged with draconic energy as it shot forward like a white streak, closing the distance in an instant.

"Dragonite! Guard yourself! Dodge if you can!"

Lance reacted quickly, but Dragonite, still stiff from the use of Hyper Beam, couldn't evade in time. For a Pokémon of its caliber, the delay was minor—but against an opponent as fast as Garchomp, even that split-second mattered.

"Draaa—?!"

Dragonite tried to retreat, but its body locked up mid-movement. Before it could recover, Garchomp was already upon it, a fin slicing through the air with a sharp whistle.

"Grrr—!!"

With no other choice, Dragonite gritted its teeth and raised its arms to block the attack.

"Rooaar!!"

But the expected blow never came.

At the last moment, Garchomp halted its strike, slowly retracting its fin.

"Draaa?"

Dragonite's eyes showed a flicker of surprise, and he growled softly, clearly asking Garchomp why he had stopped the attack.

Garchomp responded with a bark-like roar, his expression carrying a trace of disdain—it was obvious he didn't intend to take advantage of a fellow Dragon in a weakened state.

Liam watched, slightly exasperated, but after a moment's thought, he held his tongue. Garchomp rarely encountered a rival this strong, especially another Dragon-type. If it wanted a fair fight, Liam wouldn't interfere and risk hurting its pride.

"DRAAA!!"

Dragonite flexed its body, shaking off the last of its stiffness, before roaring and suddenly whipping its tail at Garchomp in retaliation.

"Rooaar!!"

Garchomp blocked the strike with its fins, sensing Dragonite wasn't using full force. Its jagged maw curled into a savage grin, fangs glinting coldly.

"Alright, now the real battle begins. No more holding back, Garchomp."

Liam called out to Garchomp, his eyes fixed on the two Dragon-type Pokémon now poised in full battle stances.

"Roar!!"

Garchomp, his back to Liam, raised his right fin and gave it a quick shake in acknowledgment. Then he let out a low growl, eyes locked intensely on Dragonite, burning with fierce fighting spirit.

"Heh, we'll go all out too! That's the only way not to let our opponent down. Give it everything you've got, Dragonite!"

Lance shouted to his Dragonite with a confident grin on his face.

"Roaarrr!!"

Dragonite threw its head back and let out a resounding roar.

"Uh… then! The battle resumes!"

The referee glanced at the situation on the field, hesitated briefly, then shouted loudly.

"Garchomp, use Dragon Claw!"

"Dragonite, dodge and counter with Wing Attack!"

"Roaarr!!"

The moment the battle resumed, Garchomp stomped down, cracking the ground beneath his foot as he launched himself like a white flash toward Dragonite. Both fins shimmered with a bluish-purple light.

"Draaa!!"

Facing Garchomp's fierce charge, Dragonite gave a low growl. It flapped its wings and lifted slightly off the ground, darting about in an ultra-low-altitude flurry of evasive maneuvers.

With remarkable agility, it dodged Garchomp's successive slashes. Its powerful wings beat once more, sending out a barrage of white energy blades as it ascended.

"Garchomp! Use Slash! Then stir up a Sandstorm!"

"Roaarr!"

Garchomp's fins glowed white as he sliced clean through the approaching energy blades with decisive, fluid motions. He let out a thunderous roar as he opened his mouth wide, summoning a fierce sandstorm that rapidly swept across the entire battlefield.

"Dragonite! Blow the sandstorm away with Twister!"

As soon as the sandstorm started to spread, Lance quickly gave the command. Though the storm itself didn't deal much damage, in such a critical moment, there was no room for carelessness. Every move had to be taken seriously.

"Rooarr!"

Dragonite, already airborne, beat its wings powerfully. A high-speed spiraling Twister formed in front of it, drawing the sandstorm in as it gathered strength.

Soon, the Twister transformed into a towering cyclone of pure sand—more powerful than before—and surged toward Garchomp with terrifying force.

"Garchomp! Use Dig!"

Liam frowned slightly at the massive sand tornado and immediately shouted to Garchomp.

"Grr—RAH!"

Garchomp's claws tore into the earth, vanishing underground just as the sand-twister obliterated the spot it had stood.

The tornado raged pointlessly before collapsing back into a cloud of dust.

"Now! Garchomp—Rock Climb!"

Seizing the obscured vision, Liam's eyes flashed.

"ROOOAR!!"

A tremor shook the ground before a jagged pillar of rock erupted beneath Dragonite, shooting skyward.

"Dragonite, dodge!"

Lance barked.

"Draa!"

Dragonite banked sideways easily—but as it did, its focus remained locked on the dusty terrain below, searching for Garchomp.

"NOW! DRAGON CLAW!"

Liam's grin sharpened as he pointed upward.

"What?! Dragonite, it's coming from—!"

Lance's warning came too late.

The side of the rocky pillar exploded as Garchomp burst through in a hail of debris, draconic energy blazing around its fins. Before Dragonite could react—

"RO-AAR—!!"

A devastating strike hammered into Dragonite's shoulder, sending it plummeting to the ground with a crash.

"GARCHOMP! FINISH IT—OUTRAGE!!"

"ROOOOOOAR!!!!"

Kicking off the shattered rock, Garchomp ascended to the peak of the pillar. Then, with a deafening roar, it leapt, transforming into a draconic meteor as it smashed into Dragonite with catastrophic force.

"BOOOOOOM!!!"

The shockwave kicked up a mushroom cloud of dust, shaking the stadium.

Silence.

Then, after a while—

"ROAR!!"

A white figure quickly rushed out from above the mushroom cloud and flipped over to jump in front of Liam, raising its his head proudly and letting out a victorious roar.
