"That damn Dragonite! I haven't even..."
Misty released her hold on Eddie with a frustrated expression, but her complaint was cut short before she could finish.
"Don't talk right now. Let's continue this."
Eddie ignored Misty's surprised reaction and pulled her back into his embrace, gently pressing her head closer before covering her lips with his once again.
As for Dragonite's incoming attack, Eddie's Pokémon team had a simple message: a single wild Dragonite shouldn't dare interrupt their trainer's important moment.
Charizard, Garchomp, Greninja, and Sceptile simultaneously unleashed their own Hyper Beams. Four powerful energy blasts combined into one devastating counter-attack, meeting Dragonite's Hyper Beam head-on.
Meanwhile, Pikachu and Jolteon coordinated a Thunder attack directly at the wild dragon.
Dragonite was knocked backward by the combined force of four Hyper Beams, but since both attacks had canceled each other out, it didn't sustain significant damage from that exchange.
However, the surprise Thunder combination from Pikachu and Jolteon caught it completely off guard. The wild dragon was struck by the electrical assault and sent plummeting toward the ocean below.
If someone had looked toward Dragonite at that moment, they would have witnessed quite a scene—the massive dragon crashing into the sea with tremendous waves as the backdrop, while Eddie and Misty's silhouettes overlapped in an intimate embrace on the beach.
"Misty, go back and help with the evacuation and rescue efforts. I'll handle this situation."
After several more minutes of their passionate exchange, Eddie finally pulled away from the breathless Gym Leader and gave her clear instructions.
"...Alright, I understand. Please be careful out there."
Misty's face was flushed red, and she was slightly out of breath from their encounter.
But in this moment, she seemed like an obedient young woman, nodding at Eddie's request. After recalling her injured Pokémon to their Poké Balls, she turned to leave, though her eyes showed obvious reluctance.
Even though she had so much more she wanted to say to Eddie, she understood this wasn't the right time for personal matters. If anyone else had attempted what Eddie just did under these dangerous circumstances, it would have been catastrophic.
Only Eddie would dare act so boldly in such a situation, but that was beside the point now. He needed to focus completely on battling the enraged Dragonite.
The wild dragon had already emerged from the sea and was now staring at Eddie with blazing red eyes.
"What's wrong? Feeling humiliated after being knocked out of the sky? So now you're even more violent than before?"
"Well, if you're that upset about it, come and try to hit me!"
While Eddie delivered these provocative words that could enrage any person or Pokémon, he retrieved his Mega Glove and slipped it onto his hand.
"Charizard, Sceptile, Garchomp, Greninja—let's show this crazed Dragonite what real power looks like!"
"ROAAAR!"
"GRAAAAH!"
With Dragonite's furious roar mixing with the battle cries of Eddie's determined team, an incredibly brilliant light began to shine across the beach.
The appearance of this radiant glow immediately captured the attention of the panicked crowds who had been fleeing in all directions.
At that moment, the only sounds echoing across the beach were the roars of the battling Pokémon, and every person turned their eyes toward the figure standing defiantly before the massive Dragonite.
"Wait... isn't that the powerful trainer who played a crucial role in Team Rocket's defeat in Celadon City? That's Eddie!"
Someone in the crowd recognized him. After all, Eddie's recent actions in Celadon City had been widely reported by news outlets across the region.
Erika had naturally attributed all the credit to her beloved trainer, and whenever anyone asked her about the incident, she would emphasize that it was entirely Eddie's achievement—which was actually true.
The wealthy elite had also been building momentum for Eddie's reputation. They had already received information from Devon Corporation and knew that Eddie had successfully hatched the rare Pokémon eggs they'd given him, even training a shiny Ralts into a powerful Gardevoir.
Since Eddie had accepted their gifts and they were clearly satisfied with the results, they naturally considered him one of their own. Building up his reputation was obviously beneficial to their interests.
In the future, when Eddie reached his full potential, those who had invested in him early would gain tremendous prestige and various hidden benefits.
To put it simply, the biggest advantage was that no one would dare target them. After all, they had connections to a powerhouse like Eddie. Anyone considering attacking them would have to think twice about facing Eddie's potential retaliation.
It wasn't only Erika and the wealthy upper class promoting Eddie's reputation. Misty and Brock had also repeatedly stated in public that Eddie was an unlimited talent, a pioneer in the fight against Team Rocket, and a truly righteous trainer.
Thanks to the publicity efforts of several Gym Leaders and the upper class, Eddie had become quite well-known in this world. The number of local residents who recognized him was nearly equal to the number of competitive trainers who knew Eddie from tournament rankings.
"Everyone, listen to me! I'm Misty, the Gym Leader of Cerulean City. You must leave this beach in an orderly fashion immediately. Don't stand here and interfere with Eddie's battle!"
"All trainers who have Pokémon available, please release them to help with evacuation and rescue efforts. Hurry!"
At this point, Misty ran over from the Dragonite battle area and called out to the crowds still standing stunned on the beach.
Technically, as the Gym Leader of Cerulean City, she shouldn't interfere in Fuchsia City's affairs. However, since Fuchsia City's Gym Leader Koga wasn't present, her authority as a Gym Leader could be put to good use.
"It's Misty, the Gym Leader of Cerulean City!"
"She's the one who helped defend us against Dragonite just now, right? I'm going to listen to her and leave now."
"Everyone, slow down, slow down! Don't push and shove. Leave here in an orderly manner, and be careful not to cause a stampede accident."
Under Misty's leadership, trainers began mobilizing to guide the crowd in an organized retreat.
"Gym Leaders really are amazing. They're not only powerful, but they also have incredible influence. Everyone listens to them. People like me, no matter how capable I am, basically get ignored in situations like this. sigh"
Among the trainers helping to direct the crowd, Green was assisting while secretly observing the situation with admiration.
She had tried commanding the crowd in the same way earlier. Although she was an accomplished trainer, she was someone almost no one recognized. At this critical moment when lives were at stake, almost no one had listened to her instructions.
Therefore, Green had been forced to personally rescue fallen individuals one by one—a slow and extremely inefficient process.
But when Misty arrived, she had gotten everything organized in an orderly fashion, so Green naturally felt a bit envious.
However, despite her jealousy, she continued doing what needed to be done. This was what Eddie had instructed her to do.
As the crowd departed in an organized manner, Eddie's Pokémon had completed their transformations.
Mega Charizard X, Mega Sceptile, Mega Garchomp, and the Bond-enhanced Greninja stood before Dragonite, radiating an incredibly terrifying aura.
Pikachu and Jolteon also emanated a frightening presence that didn't match their smaller, more adorable appearances.
Naturally, Dragonite wouldn't show weakness and released the overwhelming aura of a Quasi-Elite level pseudo-legendary Pokémon.
For several tense moments, both sides maintained their standoff, each testing their opponent's resolve through sheer presence alone.
The seawater around them began forming unusual standing wave patterns due to the clash of powerful auras from both sides of the battle.
The collision of these opposing forces created an almost supernatural display as the waves seemed to take on an almost humanoid shape, standing tall against the horizon as evidence of the incredible power being unleashed by both the wild Dragonite and Eddie's transformed team.
