The next morning, Eddie woke up early and eagerly "escorted" Giovanni to a nearby town.
Eddie showed great enthusiasm, acting as if he was worried about wasting Giovanni's precious time. He had Eevee and Gengar lead the way throughout their journey.
Whenever they encountered wild Pokémon blocking their path, Eddie would rush through aggressively, trying to "escort" Giovanni to safety as quickly as possible.
However, Eddie had a specific purpose for acting so recklessly at this moment. His rough behavior was all part of a carefully planned performance. Giovanni, who had been observing Eddie's crude methods, had completely abandoned any thoughts of testing him further.
Giovanni's final assessment was clear: Eddie was slightly stronger than an average Trainer, but he was arrogant, crude, and lacked proper caution. The only reason he had managed to defeat those three careless Team Rocket Executives was pure luck. He simply wasn't worth worrying about.
This was Giovanni's complete evaluation of Eddie after watching him for an entire day and night.
It must be said that Eddie possessed remarkable acting skills. He had previously deceived Sabrina with his performance. If it hadn't been for Koga's betrayal, Sabrina would never have discovered that Eddie had been playing her all along.
Now, even the infamous boss of Team Rocket had been completely fooled by Eddie's act. Giovanni had lowered his guard entirely and couldn't even be bothered to continue observing him.
"As long as Giovanni doesn't ask Koga and Sabrina about my acting abilities, I can still deceive him when I become strong enough," Eddie thought to himself.
Eddie seemed to have thought of something amusing, and a smug smile crossed his face at that moment.
He was truly a master of disguising weakness while hiding his true strength. While feeling satisfied with his deception, he knew he could continue to trick Giovanni in the future.
During their journey, because Eddie had accelerated their travel pace, he and Giovanni arrived at the nearby town early in the morning. After safely delivering Giovanni to the town entrance, Eddie prepared to take his leave.
"Thank you, Eddie. If it weren't for your help, I wouldn't have been able to return to this safe town so easily. As a token of my gratitude, please accept this Moon Stone and this Pokémon Egg."
Giovanni walked over to a Pokémon postal service station with a kind smile on his face. He entered his courier code and retrieved a Moon Stone and a Pokémon Egg from his stored items.
Then, he approached Eddie and offered both items to him.
"A Moon Stone and a Pokémon Egg? Uncle Giovanni, should I really accept these? You're being far too generous."
Although Eddie was puzzled about why this man was giving him gifts, he spoke politely while showing no hesitation in accepting the Moon Stone and Pokémon Egg directly.
"You say you're being polite, yet you're taking the items without hesitation? If you don't want them, just give them back to me! You're quite shameless, aren't you?"
"Well, whatever. I have plenty of Moon Stones, and I obtained this Pokémon Egg by chance anyway. Consider it a farewell gift. With his limited strength, Sabrina and the others can handle him easily as long as they don't get careless. I'll probably never see him again."
Giovanni kept complaining about Eddie's shamelessness in his mind, realizing he had been doing a lot of internal grumbling over the past two days. He felt that his usual composed demeanor had changed somewhat after meeting this particular individual.
Despite his internal complaints, Giovanni maintained his friendly smile as he handed over the Moon Stone and Pokémon Egg to Eddie.
"It's perfectly fine. This is just a small Moon Stone and a Pokémon Egg that I happened to come across. If it weren't for your assistance yesterday, I would have faced serious danger. Please consider these small gifts as my way of showing appreciation.
"By the way, I obtained this Pokémon Egg purely by chance. I don't know what species of Pokémon it contains, but I can assure you that its potential should be quite impressive. Please take good care of it."
After saying this, Giovanni turned around and departed. He needed to return to Team Rocket headquarters to oversee operations. Their plans were being accelerated, and he had numerous important matters requiring his attention.
"The Moon Stone isn't immediately useful, but there will surely come a time when I need it. As for this Pokémon Egg..."
"Why do people keep giving me these things recently? I still have another Pokémon Egg that hasn't hatched yet, and now I have two Pokémon Eggs. I have no idea what either of them contains."
Eddie retrieved his other egg and examined it. This particular egg had been with him for several days now, and he felt it should be hatching soon.
After all, the egg he had carried during his time with Bill had followed a similar pattern. It had hatched after just a few days of care. This egg would probably hatch within the next few days as well.
Eddie compared the two eggs and noticed that the patterns on each were distinctly different. This confirmed that they contained two completely different Pokémon species.
"Giovanni wields tremendous power and influence. Even if he acquired something 'by chance,' it's probably nothing ordinary. This Pokémon Egg might provide me with a pleasant surprise later."
Recalling the original manga, Eddie remembered how Giovanni had directly given Ash a mysterious piece of amber. Ash had later used that amber to restore and create a powerful Aerodactyl that could confront Moltres head-on.
Therefore, Eddie made his judgment about the Pokémon contained within this egg. Even if Giovanni didn't know exactly what species it was, he must have recognized its potential. Since Giovanni claimed it was impressive, it must have possessed the kind of potential that would catch his experienced eye.
"For a Trainer of his caliber, the potential that impresses him would probably be at least Elite level, or possibly even Champion level."
Eddie thought quietly to himself, his eyes showing intense interest as he gazed at the Pokémon Eggs.
With his Exp. Share device, he would never refuse a Pokémon with excellent potential and formidable strength.
Not to mention that his current plan involved organizing three complete teams of Pokémon. Depending on circumstances, it wouldn't be impossible to continue collecting powerful and rare Pokémon.
After all, the Exp. Share could solve the leveling problem entirely. He didn't need to personally train every single Pokémon through individual battles and missions.
"This Exp. Share is probably the most valuable item I've obtained since entering this world. It directly solves the Pokémon training issue. No matter how many Pokémon I acquire, I don't need to worry about the time investment required for their development."
Eddie thought happily, reflecting on how generous Mew had been to provide such an incredible training artifact on his very first day.
"Speaking of Mew, this reminds me of that long-term hidden quest, and there's still stage three remaining. I suspect I know what stage three involves, but I wonder how Mewtwo is progressing right now."
Eddie's thoughts turned to the long-term hidden quest, which naturally led him to think about Mewtwo.
He wasn't certain whether Blaine had followed his specific instructions, but regardless of the outcome, he had already guessed the content of the final stage of the long-term hidden mission.
"If Blaine followed my instructions properly, I would soon possess a trump card even more powerful than the Power of Viridian. With that kind of strength, I'd be able to travel anywhere without facing serious problems."
While Eddie hadn't been completely confident about subduing Mewtwo before, the recent incident with Eevee had shown him that the Power of Viridian within him seemed capable of accomplishing far more than he had initially realized.
This revelation had greatly increased his confidence in potentially controlling Mewtwo. As long as Blaine had followed his instructions precisely, everything would work out perfectly.
