Chapter 144 - Chapter 144: Beyond All Facades XIV

Tiffany reached out her hand and gently cupped her cheek.

"You don't have to think about what you can give back for what you are receiving. You don't have to calculate why people are helping you. Just as you helped your friends, we are helping you without thinking about any compensation."

Wynter truly looked like a lost child.

She was not used to being helped unconditionally.

The reason why she was averse to the way Shawn was pushing his help onto her.

Even toward her partner, she had always felt that she would pay them back one day.

Despite their words of being by her side always, no matter what.

In the end, those words never sank in with her.

She felt like she wasn't worthy of it yet.

"You don't have to answer now—"

"I wish to…"

Tiffany smiled when Wynter suddenly spoke out.

She bit her lower lip, "If… If I may be even more selfish… Can I…"

She looked at Tiffany and then at Lenon.

"You can stay with us," Lenon smiled at her.

"Can I?" she asked again.

"Yes, and we will support you in your journey. As I presume this is what you truly wish for yourself?" Lenon replied.

"Yes, Sir. This time, this is for myself, no one else."

Shawn blinked.

He could tell that she was speaking with more vigor than he had ever heard from her.

She looked more alive now compared to the years he spent with her.

"Very well, everything shall be prepared until you are discharged," Lenon said, approaching her and patting her head.

"For now, focus on recovery."

"Yes, sir," Wynter's eyes shone brighter than ever.

Brilliance, not one of them had seen in the flower of high society.

"I guess we were dumped," Dominick joked while placing his arm around his son's shoulder.

"I…"

Wynter was suddenly lost.

Sabrina pinched Dominick's arm, "Don't tease her."

"Ouch," Dominick pouted.

Wynter bit her lip, but she couldn't stop a giggle from escaping.

"I…" her eyes widened.

"Laugh if you want," Sabrina chuckled.

"Anyway, where is that breakfast? You need one to gain your strength," Dominick changed the subject, seeing a tinge of red on Wynter's face.

"Shouldn't there be hospital food?" Lenon furrowed his brows.

"Come on, we all know how it is not appetizing to have those meals after barely eating for days," Dominick grimaced.

"Uhmmm, the breakfast is here," Gabriel finally came in.

Everyone turned to him.

He smiled politely, "Nice to meet you. I am Gabriel Crassus."

"From Crassus Media," Lenon acknowledged.

"My mother was the youngest daughter," Gabriel replied.

"But everyone was contributing to the rise of the family. Don't speak that way," Lenon gently reprimanded Gabriel.

Gabriel blinked in surprise.

He had always been speaking this way since it was the only way he knew people would stop trying to get close to him due to his background.

"If you keep saying that, the one you are looking down on is your mother and brothers, who are doing their best for that company. Even your other relatives," Lenon added.

"Thank you, sir," Gabriel said respectfully.

Lenon nodded before looking back at Dominick and Sabrina.

"We will be taking our leave now."

"Okay."

"We will come back on the day of your discharge," Tiffany said to Wynter.

"Thank you very much," Wynter replied.

After a while,

"I heard a lot about how you helped my son. I thank you for that," Dominick said to Gabriel.

Somehow, he and Sabrina were also eating in Wynter's room.

While the two of them, with Gabriel and Shawn, were eating at the table within the room, Wynter was eating her soup in her bed, simply watching them.

"I was being helped by him as well, Sir," Gabriel replied.

"Well, as someone who was also in the medical field, just reach out to Shawn if you need anything. We are very much willing to support such young, aspiring individuals," Dominick smiled.

"Thank you very much, sir," Gabriel replied.

He knew he would be asking for favors from Shawn, but being told to do so by Dominick Lockhart himself was entirely different.

He wouldn't need to hold back.

Dominick could clearly see what was going on in his mind, and he couldn't help but nod in acknowledgment. He could tell that Gabriel knew what he was lacking and would do anything to achieve his goals. While also knowing where he should stand.

Not many individuals were the same as him.

"Anyway, we have to go. You all enjoy yourselves. And Miss Wynter, complete rest is what we need you to do now," Dominick stood up, followed by Sabrina.

"Yes, Sir."

A few hours after they left, Kathrine, Kenneth, and Justin arrived.

"How do you feel?" Kathrine asked her.

"Fine. I guess," she replied with a shrug.

"What are you going to do after being discharged?" Kenneth asked next.

Wynter looked at Shawn and Gabriel.

"I will be staying as Harmony Thomas for a while. And will be staying here in City S."

Since she will be staying under Ashcroft's protection, she will have to stay at their main villa, which is here in City S.

"I suppose we can meet one another from time to time?" Kathrine asked next.

"If we have the chance," Wynter replied.

"You know… you can rely on us, right?" Kathrine's eyes turned red.

Just remembering what Wynter went through, she could not help but feel emotional.

Wynter smiled, a smile no longer controlled but one of understanding and gratefulness.

"I know. And thank you for that."
