Lu Junhan took the envelope, his frown deepening. The tension in the room thickened as he tore it open and unfolded the note inside. His eyes scanned the contents, and with each passing second, his expression darkened. His grip on the paper tightened until his knuckles turned white.
Ying Xue noticed the change in his expression and stepped forward, her voice low and tense. "What is it?" she asked anxiously. "Who sent the note? What's written on it?"
He didn't respond. His jaw was clenched, eyes burning with unspoken rage. Unable to bear the silence, she reached out and snatched the note from his hand. Her eyes flew across the short message: "A reciprocal gift from a loving son – Lu Jinchen."
