At first, anger was all Darren could feel. An overwhelming rush of irritation. If Caldwell was right in front of him, he would have snapped his fat chinless neck.
But anger was detrimental. Anger would cause him to act on emotion rather than logic. Anger would stop him from thinking.
And if there was anything Darren required deeply at this time, it was to think.
He gently placed his phone on a table, turned to take a look at Penny.
She was still fast asleep, beautiful in her rest.
He walked to her, and covered her with a blanket.
Letting out a sigh, he pushed open the light wooden door of her suite, the cool tile floor grounding him as he padded barefoot down the sun-warmed hallway.
