RYDER'S POV
Jade had become a ghost. A stranger really or at least she was doing her goddamn best to be.
These past few days, she had become a rainbow-braided ghost who zapped past me in the bar, mumbling one-word answers.
And pretending to be swamped at the mechanic shack when I was on duty in the bar.
And when she wasn't giving me the cold shoulder, she was vanishing into dates with random guys named Chad or Derek or that weird dude who brought his pet iguana to dinner.
Question. Who the hell brings a pet iguana to a frickiing dinner date?
A sound behind me made me turn around and there she was, hurling in a block of ice.
"Hey, Pretty girl" I called out to her, hoping for at the very least a conversation but she turned around and walked back outside murmuring something about ice buckets.
Roger nudged me, his brow furrowed.
"What'd you do to my kid, Steele? She bolts like a spooked deer every time you walk in the room."
