Jack's POV
Cole came at dusk. I was in bed with the nastiest headache trying to make sense of the documents laid out in front of me.
Kinneycorp needed my attention, it has taken a backseat in my life lately as I tried to catch up with my duty as heir to the clan and as we planned my wedding to Kai.
And sending a hundred documents to me was Kenneth's, my second in command's way of telling me to hurl my ass in.
I shut my eyes briefly before opening them again.
The bite on my chest from my brother's wolf burned like acid.
Cole stood in the doorway, stiff as a corpse, arms crossed.
I didn't look at him immediately. I knew exactly what I would see if I did - an angry posture with guilty eyes. I wasn't in a hurry to dissect that.
"Come to finish me off?" I rasped when he didn't speak.
I looked at him finally.
He flinched.
"Shut up, dude" He walked in, kicked a chair closer, slumped into it. He didn't look at me...he couldn't bare to look at me.
