Zephyra's POV
I still couldn't believe what I was seeing.
Astraea's brother.
The moment his name slipped into my thoughts, my stomach sank. Therion Vaelthar. The man, or rather, the demon that Astraea had mentioned many times before. I already knew that he was not just her brother but also a king in one of the underworld's kingdoms. A demon king.
The wind up here on the rooftop whipped against my skin, but it wasn't the cold that had me shaking. I forced myself to stand straighter, trying to hide how rattled I was, though I doubted it fooled him.
I didn't know the rules for speaking to someone like him. Should I say something first? Or would that just offend him? The silence between us was honestly making me spiral in the worst way possible, so I decided it was safer to keep my mouth shut until he decided to talk.
After what felt like an eternity, he finally did.
"Don't be scared of me," he said, his voice deep and calm. "I'm not here to necessarily hurt you."
