Chapter 31 - Demonic Butterfly

Of course, none of this means anything to the Vanguard. Advantage?

Tsk, that's just for others. People have already formed a mindset. If the Vanguard isn't at a disadvantage, then there's a problem. These days, there's no worse aircraft than the Iron Prime.

But people want to see how the Vanguard can handle the Demonic Butterfly's aerial advantage. With the Iron Prime's attack power, its only weapon is lasers, and they must hit vital targets. Of course, people love to see miracles.

Veyne didn't care if anyone was watching. He just wanted to stretch his muscles. Overpowering his opponent with relentless bombardment wouldn't strengthen him.

Veyne treated every battle as a real fight, and he wanted to learn something from it.

For example, in this battle, he chose this man precisely because of his aircraft.

Flying Beacon unceremoniously chose the plains. He knew the rules of the Vanguard Warriors. Although they were privates, they were big names.

Besides, he was truly unsure. Anyone who had watched the videos would likely be terrified. He would definitely choose terrain that was advantageous to him.

And the plains were naturally the most conducive to aerial bombardment.

The Vanguard Warriors' appearance had the game company's staff incredibly busy. This guy was really... too much. Didn't he know he could make money?

At least they should have been prepared. For Veyne's appearance, the staff had been called up to prepare for the promotion, but Veyne wasn't willing to wait. He just wanted to choose his challenger.

Without official interference, this became an open competition. If both parties agreed, the competition could be open to the public. Of course, the capacity was limited; it all depended on who was quick.

Players who squeezed in shouldn't be too happy. Once one person enters a Space Wars game room, everyone else stops playing and connects directly to the screen.

Everyone is eagerly awaiting it. Damn, this is almost like a sci-fi blockbuster, even more exciting. The players are a little thirsty.

Vanguard Iron Prime vs. Flying Beacon: Magic Butterfly Plains

When the players saw the plains, they had no other reaction except to curse Flying Beacon's shamelessness.

The plains were ridiculously flat, with not a single cover, just a flat expanse. This guy must have chosen an extreme plain.

There's no aesthetic appeal at all, it simply facilitates his attacks. Moreover, this guy was so rude as to add thick clouds in the sky so that if he saw trouble, he could fly through them, increasing interference and error.

The match begins.

Flying Beacon was remarkably cautious, not rushing to attack initially. The Magic Butterfly instantly took off and rose, maintaining the optimal safe position.

Another Iron Prime would be fine, but facing a Vanguard, anyone needs to be careful!

Shameless? Damn, I'm shameless!

Defeat the Vanguard Warrior and they'll be instantly famous. Right now, some Fantasy-level players are desperately trying to take down the Vanguard Warrior.

This guy's existence is the biggest irony for them, not to mention it's just a tactic.

Veyne also entered a state of complete concentration, moving around a few times to get a feel for it.

However, his movement startled the flying beacon in the sky, which thought it was about to attack. The Vanguard Warrior's marksmanship was proven to be formidable.

He immediately climbed high into the air, leaving Veyne somewhat bewildered.... From that height, he couldn't return fire, but neither could his opponent.

The players watching the actual battle roared with laughter. With such audacity, he dared to challenge the Vanguard Warrior. Seriously, he shouldn't be such a jerk!

The Flying Beacon, soaring high into the sky, didn't notice this. To say he wasn't nervous was a lie.

With so many people watching, and the Vanguard always acting so unpredictably, he must have been worried. If he was killed right off the bat, it would be a huge loss of face.

The Flying Beacon remained cautious, but seeing the Vanguard only made a few casual moves, he felt relieved. As long as he kept an eye on his lasers, this battle would be unbeatable.

Besides, he had a real trick up his sleeve. This battle was timed. If it wasn't over within fifteen minutes, it would be a draw!

Even if he couldn't win, a draw would still be to his advantage.

The Flying Beacon began its bombardment. This fantasy aircraft's flight agility wasn't as clumsy as the real-life Normandy.

After all, aerial range was far superior to close combat. The Magic Butterfly was a bomber, specifically designed to deal with ground-based mobile suits. The Flying Beacon launched a few tentative attacks.

Iron Prime could only dodge, which emboldened him slightly.

Seeking a winning streak? Wrong, that's just other players' opinion. Veyne doesn't have those constraints when playing space combat. Just like in this match, he had no intention of finishing his opponent off immediately.

Perhaps some players hoped to see the Vanguard suddenly launch a laser to destroy the Magic Butterfly, continuing his legendary journey.

But in reality, the Vanguard didn't attack a single time in the opening dozen or so exchanges, seemingly warming up for the Magic Butterfly, simply dodging its attacks.

Don't underestimate Flying Beacon. Once he lets go of his nervousness and unleashes the full power of his Magic Butterfly attack, the ground mechs will be in for a real rude awakening.

Even Iron Prime is a bit of a mystery to players. While Iron Prime's lasers are slower and less powerful, they're not completely defenseless.

Furthermore, with the Vanguard's marksmanship, it's definitely going to be difficult for the Magic Butterfly to fully unleash its full potential. But now, it's clearly just a target.

Flying Beacon is no idiot; he's naturally aware of this. Whether it's intentional, a trap, or something else entirely, he absolutely can't let go of such a golden opportunity, unless his intelligence regresses to kindergarten.

The Magic Butterfly performed beautiful pirouettes in the air. Of course, this wasn't just for show; it was also primarily to make it difficult for the opponent to catch it.

The attack began, and rows of lasers rained down from the sky. The Magic Butterfly was a model capable of continuous fire, and Veyne was completely focused. This was no joke.

If his coordination with Iron Prime was even slightly off, he'd be blasted.

Faced with the attack, Iron Prime made subtle evasive maneuvers, his movements lightning fast, dodging the lasers' attack and vibration range with minimal movement.

This was something only someone with the most intimate knowledge of the power of lasers could accomplish; the opponent had a firm grasp of their range.

Veyne's face lit up with excitement. This was a wonderful feeling. He could never learn the ruthless wartime attitude Dora had taught him.

Despite his excitement, his body's reactions weren't slowed at all; instead, they were even more agile.

Finally, Dora had to admit that this might be some kind of human anomaly, documented in the archives as belonging to a very small number of individuals.
