Chapter 30 - The Return of the Pioneer

As a premium member, Veyne had his own room. It was rare, but there were people like him.

Veyne didn't want to draw too much attention. After all, the gravity multiplier he used was slightly different from others.

Warming up at four times the gravity, Veyne felt at ease after ten minutes. However, this wasn't enough to unwind from the hellish month of exam preparation.

Gravity gradually increased, and with each doubling, the demands on his body increased. When it reached eight times the gravity, Veyne felt the strain, a perfect moment of exhilaration.

His movements became incredibly slow and heavy, his muscles tensed. But this only fueled his excitement.

He began running in the gravity field to get used to it. It had been a while since he'd exercised. After the same ten minutes, under eight times the gravity, Veyne was already sweating profusely and feeling limp.

It felt truly exhilarating. It seems like a body rusts if you don't exercise for a while. Fortunately, the exam was over. If I passed, that would be great. If I didn't, enlisting in the army wouldn't be a problem with my physical condition.

No matter what, I could live my life the way I wanted and strive for my goals!

An hour later, Veyne emerged from the fitness center. While most people would experience some physical discomfort after transitioning from such sustained high-G to normal gravity, Veyne felt nothing like that. He felt completely at ease.

It seemed Dora was right. All the training he'd done in the environment had been transferred to his body, even optimizing it for even greater strength. As Dora put it, problems are easier to correct once they're exposed.

After the workout, he was naturally hungry. He found a random noodle shop and devoured ten bowls in one sitting, as everyone around him gasped.

After finishing, someone casually remarked, "Well, not bad, I'm about 80% full," surprising everyone around him.

Although he longed to go to the Space Battle Arena for a bit, he hadn't trained hard in a while. After finishing his meal, he felt a bit tired and fell asleep as soon as he got home.

His parents knew their son had been working hard lately. Finally, his exams were over, so he needed a good rest, no matter what.

Veyne didn't sleep all day and all night as he'd imagined. In fact, he woke up after eight hours, his body already accustomed to a deep sleep, which was very restorative.

Early in the morning, Veyne went for a run, primarily to allow his body to recover.

Upon his return, he couldn't wait to log onto Battle.net. Honestly, no matter how experienced Veyne was, those combat experiences and bizarre scenes were, after all, illusions.

When faced with real life, Veyne was still Veyne. To say he wasn't worried would be a lie. He still hoped to get into the military academy.

After all, if he started as a transport soldier, who knew when he'd finally become a mobile suit pilot.

But getting into the military academy was different. Some talented people heard they could get hands-on with mobile suits and even participate in trials right there in school; that was simply too wonderful.

Besides training, while waiting for the results, Veyne didn't want to do anything else. Experiencing space combat would help him forget all his worries.

During the time the miraculous Vanguard disappeared, Yuzhan players felt like they were living in a year. Even after all this time, his replays still topped the most-played charts.

It wasn't that there weren't some spectacular battles; on the contrary, there were many far more exciting ones than Veyne's, but none were as shocking as Veyne's. After all, he was using Iron Prime.

More importantly, these battles were remarkably well-reviewed, yielding valuable insights each time they were viewed. Some armies even practiced these battles, though of course, they weren't using Iron Prime.

The Vanguard appeared!

The players online early in the morning were either up all night or just checking it out before work. Only a few had gotten up specifically to play, and many were students, fresh out of exams, unable to resist.

But it was worth it!

The news of the Vanguard's appearance spread quickly among the players, and those who had been craving sleep instantly lost their sleep. Just kidding, sleeping? That's like a normal man seeing a naked woman—how could he sleep?

Of course, Veyne's body certainly wasn't as alluring, but the effect he created was definitely greater than that of a beautiful woman.

The front pages of dozens of cosmic warfare forums immediately pinned the headline: "The Vanguard Returns!"

Many players had a habit of visiting the forums before logging off, and even when they did, they couldn't play more than a few games in a night.

Most of the time, they watched the discussions and exchanged ideas, and the topic of conversation was always the Vanguard Warrior. Now that the Vanguard Warrior had finally appeared, they were like the Weaver Girl waiting for the Cowherd, their eyes watering with tears.

While no challenges came, there were plenty of interviews. Veyne waited with narrowed eyes. Many cosmic warfare enthusiasts wanted to interview him, and there were many beautiful women among them.

Through virtual influences, they could show off their graceful curves and figures, without any pretense, perhaps hoping to seduce Veyne with their beauty.

But alas, it wasn't that Veyne disliked women; it was just that he never confused women with combat. Once he entered combat mode, the allure of a beautiful woman diminished significantly.

Veyne ignored the "harassment" and the challenge list on his screen was refreshing. Perhaps because it was too early, he didn't see any experts. However, Veyne was itching to challenge, so he just picked the one with the best record.

ID: "Flying Beacon", Captain, uses a fantasy aircraft, the Magic Butterfly, which has air superiority.

The Magic Butterfly: This is a futuristic fantasy aircraft. Obtaining this aircraft in Space Wars is extremely difficult. Not only does it require a significant investment in parts, but it also requires completing numerous missions.

In short, the game company has made a killing, but this aircraft boasts exceptional performance. It's considered an evolution of the Normandy A, boasting perfect air-to-ground superiority while eliminating some of its shortcomings.

It's also quite effective in air-to-air combat against fighters. In Space Wars, this aircraft is also known as the Rogue. Piloting this aircraft requires no skill; simply bombing incessantly.

It already has an advantage in air-to-ground combat. If the opponent isn't using a fantasy aircraft or a basic modified version, winning is practically impossible.

This Flying Beacon is still at the Captain level for this very reason. Players generally avoid playing against this aircraft, and those willing to engage it typically have aircraft with reasonable anti-air capabilities.
