Tang Lingfeng squatted under the shade of a roadside coconut tree, his shoulders shaking as he cried for quite a while.
The grievances, anger, and confusion pent up in his heart slowly poured out with his tears. The sobs gradually softened until he was just silently wiping his reddened eyes.
Dou Dou had been standing far away, but only when he saw Tang Lingfeng stopped crying did he cautiously move closer, his little face full of concern: "Lingfeng brother, what's wrong? Are you upset?"
"I'm fine."
Tang Lingfeng wiped away the last tear and tried to pretend he was unaffected.
"Did your dad hit you again?" Dou Dou tilted his little head and asked with curiosity in his eyes.
"Of course not."
Tang Lingfeng immediately straightened his little spine and showed a bit of pride, "I gave him a good beating, left him bruised and battered."
"Then why were you crying?"
