A day after the mass prisoner release, Victor ordered all his commanders to meet in the town square. Brigade Commanders So Sui and Den Yuu were invited to attend this meeting. They all gathered around a massive table that was brought out specifically for this meeting. On the table was a fully detailed map of the Simbar Continent. When everyone was present, Victor began to lay out his plans on how to approach the war with the Kingdom of Gu.
"Thank you all for coming. I apologise to you all for releasing every prisoner we had captured; however, that is part of my plan. When we released all the prisoners, the intention was to get in the good graces of the Simbar people, but what if we could capitalise on that?"
"We know that half the continent follows King Gu Tian out of fear or for the simple reason that there is no alternative option. But what if we became the alternative option? If we rally the former citizens of the Kingdoms of Sun and Zhao, we could avoid a long and hard-fought campaign across a continent we have little geographical knowledge about."
Many of the commanders nodded in agreement. The idea was a well thought out one, but it lacked the means of execution. Brigade Commander Den Yuu was quick to point that out and asked, "The idea is all well and good, my King, but what is the plan? How do we achieve this?"
Victor smiled and then gestured for his commanders to look at the map. "If you look at the map, you can see Hunyuan in the northeastern area, right here (tap). We are just over a 4 week's march away from Xiangyang, which lies in the middle part of the western area. If we were to march further west, we would arrive at Guangdong."
"The plan is quite simple, our main army will journey south-westwards to the city of Wuwei, which is between where we currently are and the capital. While we journey to Wuwei, two groups acting as insurgents will head west and south, they will rally the people of the fallen kingdoms and help take over the continent."
Once again, all the commanders nodded and expressed their support for the plan. It was a clear and simple plan. The war would come to a quick end if King Gu Tian died, and taking the capital would also heavily swing the power balance into the Kingdom of Luxenberg's favour.
Another factor that benefited the Luxenberg Army was the Kislevian raiders, who were pestering the southern coastal settlements. A bulk of the remaining Gu navy and military were tied down there to defend against them. The Kislevian raiders were focused on plundering food for their nation. The cold, harsh conditions of the continent made it hard for them to grow food, hence why they pillaged their neighbouring continents.
While the group was softly conversing with one another, Brigade Commander So Sui raised his hand to ask a question. "Who will be in charge of the two groups acting as insurgents?"
Victor simply pointed to the two Simbarnese Brigade Commanders. So Sui would lead his brigade south and rally the former citizens of the Kingdom of Sun, while Den Yuu would lead his brigade west and rally the former citizens of the Kingdom of Zhao.
The other 2 divisions of Simbarnese soldiers would remain in Hunyuan to maintain peace and secure the Luxenberg Army's foothold on the continent. General Osten-Sacken's 15th Corps would be the only corps that remained in Hunyuan. His defensive capabilities made him an obvious choice to guard the rear. While Victor's army began their preparations, he received a unique message from the system.
'Hidden Quest Complete!: Kill Or Release 100,000 Prisoners At Once'
'Rewards: 1x Medium-Level Foreign Commander Summon, 2x 10,000-Man Infantry Unit Summon'
'Additional rewards are being calculated due to overachieving'
'Additional Rewards: 1x 100-Gun Artillery Summon, 2x 2,500-Man Cavalry Summon, 1x 10,000-Man Infantry Unit Summon'
Victor was shocked to see the amount of rewards he had received. It was slightly overpowered, but he did not dare complain. He could only jump up and down in celebration. This was such a bountiful amount of rewards. Victor could pretty much create a new corps with these rewards.
What intrigued Victor most about these rewards was the new variant of a commander summon. Usually all the commanders he had summoned were historical figures back from Victor's previous world. As far as Victor knew, all his summons were of European descent. He had French, Austrian, Russian, Prussian and British commanders in his army. He had never thought about commanders outside of those nationalities.
Nevertheless, there was no point in blindly speculating about what this new commander summon was. The only way to truly understand it, was using it. The design of the Foreign Commander Summon was quite similar to the usual ones. It was a yellow paper talisman, but instead of a black bicorn hat as the symobl, the colour had changed to silver. The design was interesting and made Victor pause for a second before using it.
After a moment of studying the slightly new design, Victor used the commander summon and awaited the animation. The screen was covered with yellow mist as a man dressed in a richly embroidered dark blue silk robe, with wide maroon cuffs and a high Mandarin collar approached.
He adorned a dark blue round hat with a red plume and a red topknot, while having a prominent necklace of red coral prayer beads hanging around his neck. This style of uniform was definitely irregular to those of the Luxenberg Army, but that did not matter to Victor.
When the character got closer to the screen, Victor could clearly make out some of his facial features. He had cobalt blue eyes that matched his long, ponytail styled hair. His face bore no wrinkles or facial hair. The man could not have looked older than 35. Victor could also notice a large, intricately designed, golden flower display badge sewn on his chest. In the center of the flower display was a Chinese symbol, that meant loyalty.
As soon as the animation finished, the screen read, 'General Kan Ki' with 3 stars next to his name. A new general for the Luxenberg Army was soon to arrive.
