Chapter 313 - Chapter 314 - The Siege of Isstvan V (I)

"This is a game of chess and the Known Universe is the board. The pawns will be sacrificed while the rooks will attack the enemy side without mercy." Aenar's thoughts on the complicated and deadly game against the Chaos Gods.

-------------------

"My Prince, it seems our experiments on Isstvan V have rebelled. The First Imperial Counselor along with the Indomitable Heart Legion have already departed to purge the planet." In a room in the Imperial Palace, a forty-year-old man reported while looking at the imperial prince Aegon.

Aegon, who was drinking a glass of wine, did not show much reaction to the man's words; he continued to look at the purplish liquid while swirling the glass with slow circular movements.

"Don't worry, Asum." Aegon finally replied, raising his head and looking at his personal secretary. He trusted the man he had taken from the streets and raised as an extremely loyal and disciplined soldier.

"Initiate Order 55 and eliminate our traces and all the results of our research." Aegon said in a calm tone; he was much more mature and calm. He was over a thousand years old and had long since learned to hide his own thoughts.

"Yes, my prince." Asum bowed and quickly sent the order through the digital screen around his arm.

"How are we doing with the other planets in the Isstvan system?" Aegon asked, drinking all the purple liquid at once. He stood up and faced a window, looking at the majestic imperial palace. In his eyes, there was a flame of ambition that would never extinguish.

"All are operating without any problems. It seems that only Isstvan V had problems." Asum replied in a respectful and cold tone.

"As a precaution, clean the other laboratories as well. By the way, plant evidence indicating that the laboratories were sponsored by my brother Maegor. Nothing too obvious, just enough to link the experiments to my lovely brother." Aegon ordered in a calm and indifferent tone, as if conspiring against his brother was the most natural thing in the world.

"My prince, if I may speak, regardless of the evidence, anyone will be able to see that someone is trying to create chaos and discord." Asum spoke in a calm and respectful tone. If it were anyone else, Aegon would have cut off their head for disobedience, but not Asum, whom he had trained and was sure of his loyalty.

"I know, but even a little chaos is enough for me to profit immensely." Aegon said, touching the cold window. There was a smile on his lips. Aegon was an extremely handsome man, somewhat resembling Aenar.

Asum said nothing more and began to send more orders to the Isstvan System; his fingers quickly typed on the virtual keyboard and all orders were sent in less than twenty seconds.

"My Prince, isn't it time for you to go to the Queen's Birthday Party?" Asum asked in a calm tone, looking at Aegon with a trace of concern. Many people could miss the birthday party, but Aegon could not.

As the Queen's son and the Emperor's first male child, he should already be at the birthday party and wish the Queen a prosperous and long life.

"No hurry, they are receiving the Aeldari emissaries." Despite saying this, Aegon had no desire to go to Daenerys' birthday party. Over the years, he noticed that her mother did not love him, even looking at him with a look full of disgust.

The first time he noticed that look was six years after returning from Braavos; he had already matured and become more experienced in dealing with people, so he noticed the look in his mother's eyes. Furthermore, his mother was not exactly hiding her own emotions.

The woman who should have been his greatest support in court simply turned her back on him and never cared about him. Aegon presumed that threatening Daenys at Aenar's birthday party really made his image extremely bad in his mother's eyes.

Aegon regretted being so impulsive by threatening Daenys in front of the Three Queens and the God Emperor. In the end, there was no turning back. Not only did his mother no longer like him, but the relationship between him and his brothers and sisters became tense.

He thought that time would erase this, but over the years, the disgust in his mother's eyes grew stronger and stronger, to the point that the queen had not spoken a word in four hundred and fifty-five years. His mother had not spoken to him for almost half a millennium.

Aegon's gaze turned cold thinking about this. "Since you don't want to be my mother, I don't want you to be my mother either." Although he thought this, he himself didn't even notice that his fists were tightly clenched.

As a son, it was more than natural to love one's own mother, so, even with all of Aegon's flaws, he truly loved his parents. However, his love was not reciprocated and his mother hated him.

Thinking about Aenar's estrangement from him in the last few hundred years, Aegon's face became even colder and darker. He could imagine that his mother was badmouthing him to his father every night in bed.

Suppressing his anger and the urge to curse Daenerys in every possible way, Aegon regained his composure and calmly looked at the imperial palace with a touch of sarcasm. "Mother, I wish you a long and prosperous life." He murmured with a tone full of irony and disdain.

Asum, who heard his lord's words, merely lowered his head and hid his look of concern and helplessness.

"How many prototypes worked, Asum?" Aegon turned and asked, looking at his faithful confidant.

"Currently about a hundred." Asum did not hesitate and replied with a tone full of respect for the man before him.

"A 1% survival chance." Aegon murmured, remembering that there were ten thousand test subjects. This number did not discourage him. Four hundred years ago, it was only 0.1%; now that chance had increased tenfold. Although progress was slow, he was satisfied.

He was immortal and had all the time in the world to create his own legions. Although his troops were not as strong as his father's, it was enough for him to become the greatest force in the Imperium of Humanity after his father.

"Transfer these hundred experiments to Secundus Prime and begin their training in secret." Aegon ordered. No noble house, politician, or merchant could have armed forces beyond what was allowed. The noble houses, politicians, and merchants of the Space Guild did not need armed forces; their protection originated from the Imperium.

Aegon knew that this was a policy to centralize the Imperium's military power in the hands of one being, the God Emperor of Humanity. The other policy was the Elixir of Life, which was produced by the Emperor himself to control the senate and the noble houses.

Honestly, the Emperor's control over everyone was simply brilliant and, at the same time, suffocating; no one was outside the Imperium's control, and certainly, he, the prince, was not.

But Aegon had a part of the blood magic inheritance he found in a relic on the continent of Essos seven hundred years ago. With this inheritance, he managed to create his own army of super soldiers similar to the Astartes. Although they were a weaker version, they were true super soldiers.

They had about three times the strength of a common human, instead of the ten times the strength of a common human that the Astartes possessed. Furthermore, the survival rate of his blood ritual was terribly low. In four hundred years, it reached only a 1% chance of survival.

However, Aegon was not dissatisfied with this; because of this blood magic inheritance, he had hope of becoming the second emperor of humanity.

Asum, who was silent, looked at the digital screen on his wrist and spoke in a calm tone. "My prince, your wife is asking where you are."

A trace of disgust passed through Aegon's eyes. He was a Targaryen, but he could not marry a Targaryen woman. This was one of the greatest pains of his life. The woman he loved simply did not love him back.

Remembering Alysanne's beautiful and absolutely attractive face, Aegon's face showed an obsessive expression. "You are mine, Alysanne, no matter what I have to do, you are mine."

"Tell my wife I'm coming." Aegon spoke in a calm tone, regaining his sanity. He showed himself to be a calm man and left his room with a posture worthy of a Targaryen prince.

Whether Aegon or Asum, neither noticed the seductive and attractive laughter behind him. The shadow of a chaos god shimmered for a moment before disappearing.

Aenar, who was back at the party, looked at a certain region and showed a sarcastic look, feeling the almost insignificant and invisible Warp aura. 'This game has just begun; the pawns are still moving.'
