Mia Collins laughed awkwardly.
"If there's nothing else you need, I'll take my leave, Miss Collins."
"Okay."
The assistant bowed respectfully to her and then left.
After the assistant was gone, Mia slowly let the smile fade from her face.
When she knocked on the door, her expression had turned indifferent.
"Come in."
William Franklin's calm voice came from inside the office.
Mia took a deep breath and pushed open the heavy door, stepping inside.
William sat behind his desk, his back to the door, facing the large floor-to-ceiling window that offered a view of the bustling city of New York.
Mia looked at the man she deeply loved but could never fully understand and spoke softly, "William, I know you can be despicable to women, but I never thought you'd use such underhanded tactics even in your battles with others."
William clearly hadn't expected it to be Mia, and his back stiffened slightly. He turned his chair around, his cold gaze fixing on her.
