Chapter 7 - CH 7: Mana usage before awakening, first town visit.

---"It's been 3 months since I started visiting Granny Layla often, and guess what, I can use Mana, yes MANA. I honestly can't wait for my awakening next of next year. I think Granny Layla will be visiting the academy as a new professor in the second semester since she always seems so interested in you. Anyway I hope you are enjoying the academy right now, I'm quite busy training you know, after all my skill allows me to become strong anywhere as long as I put in work so I do that these days. Bye sis, see ya when you're a third year or holidays"---,

I finished up my letter to sis and decided to do some more laps around the fields.

Over the last three months I've been busy training to test the limits of my 'growth' and found no limits at all. Even mana is available to me so I simply decided to use my potential to the best of my limits(still non-existent) and train everyday in all my physical aspects and mental aspects by manual labor, reading and exercise.

"Ken come over here", mom called me in

"Yes mom I'm coming. "

"Hahahaha, son you've been working too hard these days, why the overload of volunteer work. ", Dad boomed with his usual loud voice while slapping my back hard.

"Ohhh, you're body keeps getting tougher every week, you might become a warrior on your awakening, HAHAHA", he simply continued slapping harder while laughing in pride.

"Dad, can I visit the market today, you promised me last week. "

"Of course but go with your mom, we need new supplies for the garden. "

"Thanks, I'll go freshen up, see ya. "

"Wait Kenny, finish your breakfast. "

"Oh yeah haha, sorry mom I was excited. "

***************************

Few hours later

Me and mom rode a rented carriage to town where the market place is alongside the viscount's house and many more important locations such as a pharmacy, clinic, blacksmith or alchemist.

Green Town is definitely a sight to behold. It's streets all were paved well with trees in their center were trees that brought about a fresh air all over the town. Me and mom continued our walk as soon as we left the carriage in the parking area of the renters.

As we continued to walk past large buildings with more than 2 floors each I realized how much I was truly missing out in this world. The town continued to span large distances from what my mortal eyes could see and I have to admit it was beautiful.

"I was so absorbed in learning about this world's power system and stuff I forgot to truly embrace it's beauty as well, I should travel once I'm strong enough, but won't the abominations be a pain when I'm exploring... oh well I guess I just need to be strong enough to fend them off easily. "

"Mom, is that the market place? "

"Yes Kenny"

"Sheesh, I didn't expect it to be so huge, I thought it's just a town market. Wait doesn't that mean the royal market would be way larger and more luxurious, damn. "

"Okay Kenny I'm going over to the farming products so you can go buy the sword you've been bugging your father so much about. "

"Thanks mom, I'll be back soon and don't worry I won't spend more than a gold coin"

"Good, now then I'll see you later and you can explore a bit if I'm running late"

"hehe even better"

"Ok mom, I'm leaving now bye", I waved to my mom before leaving the market and making my way to the smithy.

***********

after a short walk

"Cough cough, I guess I should've expected it to be this smoky and ashy in a smithy. "

"OH, a customer, are ye here for a sword kiddo or a axe for chopping", a tall, tanned and muscular lady with a slightly deep voice appeared from behind a curtain at the end of the wall by the counter.

"Good day ma'am, I came here for a training sword, a metal one please. ", I greeted politely.

"Sure kiddo, take a look at ye left and make yer pick from the rack. "

"Thanks ma'am", I began to look closely into the rack and found quite the number of different weapons, some were swords, while others where daggers, halberds, great swords, short swords, katanas, and even bows, crossbows and guns. All the weapons looked old but somehow refined almost like they were fixed but not completely to make them beginner friendly.

I picked a simple looking double edged sword after minutes of inspecting, lifting and weighing different weapons. It's balance felt quite nice and it's length felt perfect for both close combat and mid range techniques.

"Ma'am I think I like this one, how much is it? ", I asked while putting it securely into it's scabbard.

"Mmhh, that junk is free kiddo, I haven't even conditioned it yet or made reparis"

"Wait for real? JACKPOT, I definitely struck gold today"

The blacksmith lady simply looked at me like at a child who didn't understand how useless a toy is when broken. "Kiddo are ye sure ye want that junk, it won't save yer ass against abominations or bandits. "

"It's only for training miss so it's perfect. ", I waved at the blacksmith before strapping the longsword onto my back and leaving the smithy to explore the town fully.

After exploring all kinds of stores, inns, and restaurants decorated in different styles and themes with many customers renting rooms, eating and buying I went back to the main market to get mom and go back home.

"How was your adventure today Kenny? "

"Well it was the best one I had in my life(probably both lives). I even saw the different guilds of adventurers and got some autographs from seasoned adventurers. Honestly it was refreshing seeing a new place. "

"That's good to hear, as long as you continue working hard I believe you'll awaken a good class like your sister. "

"mmmh"

Me and mom continued our walk to the carriage rentals before getting a ride home. As soon as we got home I dropped all the heavy supplies mom bought and immediately left to the fields that were already harvested.

"Finally, I can try sword training and even infusing mana into my blade while training or even this, that or ahhhh, I'm too excited, let's calm down this is a precious moment. "

I finally got my opportunity to do something I've only read about, sword training. According to me, sword training is all about physical strength and foundation in the begin so I'll only do basic swings until I do it in my sleep....wait pause but whatever.

For the next 7 months I continued to train my body physically while also training in the way of the blade, and swords are pretty versatile, I managed to learn basic swordsmanship and the foundational sword skills such as swings, stabs and blocks.

By the 4th month of my 7 month training arc I started teaching myself the intermediate skills of all sword styles. Apparently swordsmen always pick a 'sword path' when learning the sword and stick to it but thanks to my lack of limits I could learn all sword paths at the same time.

The sword paths included: The swift sword, the heavy sword, the flowing sword, the illusive sword and so on. Many sword paths are made by aspiring swordsman in every generation with some being redundant to existing ones but I still learnt as many as I could and even created some.

Halfway into the final month I had mastered the intermediate skills so I needed to create a 'Sword technique' to enter advanced sword mastery, but even without a technique I could feel my swordsmanship at advanced mastery strangely but not so strange considering my growth.

Even if my mastery didn't stagnate I decided to create my own technique but it still felt like trying to grasp mist with my hands just tying to think of the concept I would be basing it on. Regardless I used the Advanced mastery to hunt wild animals with my training sword which was pretty durable.

My parents of course continued to support my training arc, I would always come back to a full table of food and dad even offered to buy me a proper sword but I told him I would only accept if my current one broke.

Sister Kiara of course never failed to write me letters of her own training every week and I'd send my replies filled with info of my own progress as well.

Time continued to pass this way until the 7 months were up bringing about a new batch of awakeners. This year only 24 awakened with the highest being a C-tier wind mage talent. Meanwhile Kiara had undergone her entrance exams and aced all three as the top student earning the 'Crown Learner' title of her year.

As an official first year Kiara could bring her family to the 4th zone of the Myriad continent where the family residents of Myriad Academy learners is found. Mom and dad were both reluctant to leave the farm but I managed to convince them to accept. We later moved in the new place as neighbors to the village chief(thanks to his son Rey).

Next year would be my turn to awaken as well.
