I had felt fear and panic a lot of times in my life. The first time my teeth were knocked out at a rugby game and I worried that what if I never had my multi-billion smile again, the time Demyan and I had stolen Pa's new Mercedes and crashed it into the fountain just in front of the house because Demyan got confused between an accelerator and brakes. The first time I played my national test match and Connor had pulled me into a corner to tell me that everyone was going to be eyeing my mistakes, him most of all.
I had experienced different levels of fear. Some being smaller and others more extreme. However the feeling of watching someone you loved more than anyone in this world slowly slip away and you knew that in that moment there was nothing you could do to stop it, was the worst I had ever experienced in my life. Connor's mind wasn't something I could fix with brutal force, money, a team of lawyers or just dropping my father's name.
