Connor
"I promise I'll call," she hugged me tightly, already crying. "I told myself I wouldn't cry," she laughed as she looked up at me. "Thank you for letting me get to know you and your chosen family. It'll always mean so much to me, Connor."
I held either side of her face and wiped away her tears with the pads of my thumb. I felt a lump at the back of my throat threatening to make me cry but I would only make her cry more. "I'm sorry you couldn't meet Dad."
She shook her head, "you're all that matters. It's Dads loss anyway."
"Exactly," I smiled. "I'll see you in a few weeks. You have my word and you can show me your world."
She nodded her smile only growing bigger, "I can't wait." We hugged for a few more seconds before her flight was called again. "I love you Connor."
"I love you Melanie. Fly safe okay," I kissed her forehead and she pulled me down slightly so she could kiss mine. We both burst out laughing.
