Chapter 316: The Evil Emperor
As Yang Potian unleashed his Soul-Breaking Spear, formed from pure spiritual energy, it collided with the Evil Emperor's destructive force, filling the sky with a cataclysmic clash of annihilation and slaughter. The impact was so immense that it seemed to shatter the very fabric of space.
When the dust settled, an eerie silence fell over the world, with not a sound in the air. The Evil Emperor, gravely injured, now had blood spreading across his enormous eye, giving it a cracked, fragile appearance.
Yang Potian maintained his calm demeanor. "Well? Do you still want to continue? Your abilities are impressive, and your spiritual strength nearly reaches divine levels, but ultimately, you're still not my equal."
The Evil Emperor, visibly aggrieved, replied, "You are indeed powerful. I've never encountered a human with stronger spiritual power than mine. But I am the Evil Emperor—I will never be enslaved."
With those words, the enormous evil eye began to contract, and countless tentacles around it shrank as well, gathering all the Emperor's energy for a final, desperate assault.
Yang Potian's expression turned serious. "I admit, your attributes are unique. But unfortunately, I am stronger."
With that, Yang Potian's entire body turned golden—revealing his true form, as his martial spirit took over. Seven blood-red spirit rings appeared around him, radiating an intimidating aura that even the Evil Emperor could not ignore.
As his seventh spirit ring glowed, Yang Potian activated his martial spirit's true body. His entire being transformed, taking on a blood-red hue and enveloping the battlefield in a red aura. The massive Evil-Eyed Tyrant Sovereign found itself imprisoned within Yang Potian's Blood Prison, a skill intrinsic to his true body form. The blood-colored prison materialized as countless chains, locking the Evil Emperor in place.
Unfazed, the Evil Emperor countered with a beam of light that tore through space, aiming to break the chains. This was his most potent ability: Light of Time and Space—a rare, time-manipulation technique.
As the beam struck, Yang Potian felt a disorienting wave hit him, and his body began to change, shrinking until he saw himself as an infant, helpless and small. His life flashed before his eyes, from his peak as a Rank 99 Ultimate Douluo to gradually losing his power, until he reverted to the state of a newborn, as though his entire destiny was predetermined.
Yang Potian roared defiantly, "My fate is mine to decide, not heaven's! Destiny? I was born to defy it!"
With this roar, the illusion shattered, but Yang Potian coughed up a mouthful of blood, a large wound now visible on his chest. If he had been any lesser than an Ultimate Douluo, that single strike would have killed him.
The Evil Emperor fared even worse. His once-dominant eye had dimmed, drained of vitality, leaving him on the brink of death.
Examining his wound, Yang Potian found that even his formidable restorative powers couldn't heal it instantly. Using his first spirit skill, Blue Silver Restoration, a green light shone over his wound, but a foreign energy continued to resist his healing. After a three-day struggle, he finally managed to overcome it.
Yang Potian shook his head as he gazed at the near-dead Evil-Eyed Tyrant Sovereign. "Impressive indeed. That Light of Time and Space, combined with your mental illusions, pushed the powers of time and destruction to their limits. I underestimated you."
The Evil Emperor's voice was weak and raspy. "Human… You are stronger than I imagined. Even your spiritual strength far exceeds mine. What do you want?"
Yang Potian replied, "Your abilities impress me, so I'll offer you one last chance. If you willingly sacrifice yourself, there may still be a chance for you to live again when I ascend to godhood. Otherwise, prepare to die."
The Evil Emperor responded, barely hanging on, "Why do you want me to sacrifice myself? With your power, you could kill me outright."
Yang Potian paused thoughtfully. "It's simple, really. Although I've killed many 100,000-year spirit beasts, I bear no particular malice toward spirit beasts. My goal has always been to become stronger."
"Despite your title as the Evil Emperor and embodiment of wickedness, your cooperation with the Sun-Moon Empire shows me that peace between humans and spirit beasts is possible. That's why I'm giving you this final opportunity. I'll give you five minutes to decide—don't think about escaping or trying any tricks. I'm much stronger than you realize."
Indeed, Yang Potian admired the Evil Emperor's unique alliance with both the Sun-Moon Empire and dark spirit masters, a rare partnership between humans and spirit beasts. This cooperation had even elevated him to the status of a totem for the empire—a remarkable achievement.
While humans like Tang San and Huo Yuhao manipulated spirit beasts for personal gain, leading to the eventual downfall of the spirit beast race, the Sun-Moon Empire's collaboration with spirit beasts seemed more mutually beneficial. The Evil Emperor's choice of alliances had ultimately doomed him as a villain, but it showed a different path for spirit beasts and humans.
After a few minutes of contemplation, the Evil Emperor, accepting his injuries and lack of alternatives, ultimately agreed to Yang Potian's demand.
