Cass sat there, in a shock so deep that Lucian had to touch his shoulder.
"Cass? Are you alright?" Lucian asked cautiously, his voice low. Cass wasn't sure if he was. Everyone kept asking him if he was okay, and he was ready to just snap, scream that he wasn't, and storm out. Where? He had no idea, but fuck this!
Who in their right mind would sit back, all calm and normal after being told what Lucian had said? Who?
"Are you fucking serious?" Cass' voice felt harsh, raspy as he spoke. Lucian swallowed.
"It's…a theory, I'm not sure. I was honestly planning to tell you about it after our second round together, after I had more time to confirm it, but Cass…we were done 8 hours before Sam was supposed to come in and cut us off. And it happened…rather quickly after you started uh, ingesting." Lucian said, even his cheeks going pink.
Cass sat there, numb.
