Chapter 415 - Chapter 415: Major General!

Inside the Blood God Battalion, Legion Commander Zhang Huanyun, Xue Yi, and the other eight Blood Gods were seated together, while Jing Shaoyu sat opposite them, directly facing Zhang Huanyun and Xue Yi.

"Zang Xin mentioned you to me before," Xue Yi began, his face showing a pleased smile. "Seeing is believing—you truly are a fine young man."

"Oldest, you said this child is the leader of the current Shrek Seven Monsters. What's his relationship with the Skyraising Douluo?" Blood Five urgently wanted to clarify one thing.

"Let him answer that himself," Xue Yi replied without directly answering, merely smiling as he looked at Jing Shaoyu.

Noticing his smile and feeling the gazes of the others, Jing Shaoyu calmly stated, "Esteemed seniors, my name is Jing Shaoyu. I am twenty years old, a level 91 healing-type and assault-type Titled Douluo with the title [Eternal]. I am currently the dean of Shrek Academy, the master of the God of Battle Pavilion, the leader of the Shrek Seven Monsters, and the personal disciple of the Skyraising Douluo."

"I have a question!" Blood Seven shouted, his face full of curiosity.

"I have one too!" Blood Five also spoke up.

"Don't rush—one at a time!" Zhang Huanyun coughed lightly, his smile deepening. "Young man, you said you're a healing-type Titled Douluo. Is that true? This is extremely important for our Blood God Legion!"

Jing Shaoyu smiled and raised his hand. A jade-green radiance bloomed from his palm, and dense life energy instantly filled the entire hall, invigorating everyone present. Their gazes toward Jing Shaoyu immediately became warm and friendly.

A healing-type Titled Douluo—they understood perfectly well what this meant! It was equivalent to gaining an extra life on the battlefield in the future!

"Good! Good! Good!" Zhang Huanyun exclaimed three times, his face flushing with excitement. "This is truly wonderful! Comrade, welcome to the Blood God Legion!"

From "young man" to "comrade," this indicated that Legion Commander Zhang Huanyun had officially acknowledged Jing Shaoyu's arrival.

"You said you're a healing-type and assault-type Titled Douluo. Doesn't that mean you have Twin Martial Souls?" Blood Seven, being the most lively, wore an expression full of curiosity and exploration as he spoke.

"Yes," Jing Shaoyu confirmed. "My first Martial Soul is healing-type, and my second is assault-type. One of my reasons for coming to the Blood God Legion is to temper my second Martial Soul."

"Twin Martial Souls for real!" Blood Seven marveled. "Wow, this is my first time seeing a Titled Douluo with Twin Martial Souls!"

"Nonsense!" Blood Six laughed and scolded. "I refuse to believe you've never met His Excellency the Light-Dark Douluo!"

"Uh—" Blood Seven was instantly speechless.

"An excellent idea!" Xue Si looked at Jing Shaoyu with admiration. "Our Blood God Legion may lack many things, but opportunities for real combat are not one of them. Joining us will definitely not disappoint you!"

"As the personal disciple of the Skyraising Douluo, do you know who I am?" Blood Three's eyes were full of affection, resembling an elder who hadn't seen a beloved junior in a long time. She spoke softly.

"When I came here, my godmother told me that my teacher has a cousin serving in the Blood God Legion. It must be you," Jing Shaoyu said.

"Correct! My name is Yun Lan," Blood Three replied with a smile in her eyes. "The godmother you mentioned is Holy Spirit Douluo Yali, right? Then you should call me aunt!"

"Third Sister, let's save the family reunion for later. There are still many questions to ask," Blood Seven interjected.

"I know!" Blood Three shot him a glare.

"As the personal disciple of Teacher Yun Ming, and having been his student myself, I'll shamelessly call you junior brother," Blood Five said, his voice tinged with envy. "Junior Brother Jing, what is this God of Battle Pavilion you mentioned? And if you're the dean of Shrek Academy now, what about Teacher Yun Ming?"

"That's a long story," Jing Shaoyu replied. "You must be aware of the Holy Spirit Church stealing the twelve-level fixed soul guided cannon shells and attacking Shrek Academy, right?"

"Of course!" At the mention of this, everyone present showed expressions of fury. Here they were, fighting life-and-death battles against the Abyss to protect Douluo Continent, only to have the God-Slaying Soul Missiles—their secret weapons and trump cards—stolen and used to bomb their own forces. The outrage was beyond measure.

If not for their restraint, and if not for Hanhai Douluo, Surpassing Heaven Douluo, and Spirit Transfer Douluo delivering the last twelve-level fixed soul guided cannon shell, they would have long descended the mountain to exterminate those pests. Damn it all—how could they defeat the Abyss and save Douluo Continent while surrounded by such vermin?

"Could it be that His Excellency Surpassing Heaven Douluo..." Blood Five suddenly paled, his voice trembling.

"No, of course not!" Jing Shaoyu immediately denied. "Teacher is fine. After overseeing the academy's reconstruction, he took responsibility for the attack, renamed the Sea God Pavilion to the God of Battle Pavilion, and then resigned to go into seclusion, attempting to break through to the divine level."

"Oh, that's a relief!" Both Blood Three and Blood Five visibly relaxed.

"So, the so-called master of the God of Battle Pavilion is essentially the former master of the Sea God Pavilion? Doesn't that mean you're now the central decision-maker of Shrek Academy?" Blood Eight widened her eyes at Jing Shaoyu.

"That's hardly surprising. Isn't this Tang Sect leader also sitting right here?" Blood One waved his hand dismissively. "Let's focus on discussing his assigned position and duties."

"Military rank is straightforward," Zhang Huanyun said. "Following protocol, we'll grant him the rank of major general."

"What about his position?" Blood Two pondered before suggesting, "How about having him join the Blood God Battalion?"

At this, everyone's gaze instinctively shifted to Blood Nine, seated at the outermost edge. According to the Blood God Battalion's rules, for someone to enter, another must leave. If Jing Shaoyu joined, Blood Nine would be the most likely candidate for replacement.

Though Blood Nine had confidence in himself, the weight of so many stares made him uncomfortable, and he couldn't help feeling a flicker of resentment toward Blood Two for the suggestion. Damn it, isn't this just screwing over your own son?

Blood Two and Blood Nine were father and son—a celebrated tale within the Blood God Legion. A pair of Blood Gods, bound by blood.

However, Blood Two had always been trying to drive his son out of the Blood God Battalion. This wasn't out of selflessness—on the contrary, it was precisely because of selfishness. He didn't want his only son to become a Blood God. Although Blood Gods enjoyed high privileges within the Blood God Legion, they also undertook the most dangerous missions.

During every Abyssal Tide, the Blood God Battalion had to dispatch personnel to hold the line. Xue Jiu, Blood Eight, and Blood Seven were the Blood Gods with the most deployments—and also the highest mortality rates.

Several of Xue Jiu's predecessors had fallen in the Abyssal Tide, which was why Blood Two wanted him to leave. Their family only needed one person stationed at the frontlines. There was also a similar reason behind his desire for Jing Shaoyu to join the Blood God Battalion—this was the last bit of selfishness from a father.

"I have no objections, but on one condition—he has to defeat me!" Xue Jiu said sternly, his solemn expression making his stance clear. If they wanted him to leave the Blood God Battalion, fine—just defeat him first!

Hearing this, a flicker of irritation flashed in Blood Two's eyes, but it was overshadowed by relief.

"That's not good," Blood Three objected. "Shaoyu is still a newcomer. Not only is he unfamiliar with the Legion, but he also lacks the credibility to command respect. I suggest he first gain experience by serving in one of the regiments for a while."

"That's a terrible idea!" Blood Four immediately retorted. "Sending a Titled Douluo to a regiment? Are you planning to make him a regimental commander? Or a soldier? With his status, he'd be more than qualified to be a division commander!"

"Then what's your brilliant suggestion?" Blood Three shot back.

As tensions threatened to rise, Blood One spoke up, "Enough. Why don't we hear Jing Shaoyu's own thoughts before making a decision? Shaoyu, what do you think?"

"I've said before that one of my goals in joining the Blood God Legion is to hone my combat abilities," Jing Shaoyu replied promptly. "Another is to understand and investigate the Abyss. So, I'd like to join a unit that frequently enters the Abyss."

Hearing his answer, Blood One and Zhang Huanyun exchanged glances, confirming their mutual agreement before Zhang Huanyun spoke, "Good. I know exactly where to assign you."

"Where?" Blood Three immediately asked, while the others also turned curious gazes toward him.

"First, he'll be temporarily assigned to the Special Operations Division. After three to six months, we'll reassess whether to place him in the Blood God Battalion or a frontline unit," Blood One said. "What do you all think?"

"Agreed," the others responded without objection.

"Good. Then I'll take this young man with me for now," Zhang Huanyun said cheerfully, rising to his feet and walking toward Jing Shaoyu with a smile. "Shaoyu, come with me."

"Yes," Jing Shaoyu replied, standing up and giving a slight bow to the Blood Gods before following Zhang Huanyun into the elevator.

Led by Blood One, the Blood Gods watched as the two departed.

Inside the elevator, Zhang Huanyun wore a warm smile as he inquired after Jing Shaoyu's well-being—it was clear he held the young man in high regard.

After leaving the Blood God Battalion, the two headed straight for the Blood God Legion's command center. The headquarters was bustling with numerous departments and personnel, everything running in perfect order. Everyone they encountered saluted Zhang Huanyun respectfully, and he returned their greetings with a kind nod.

Though everyone noticed Jing Shaoyu, their surprise was quickly masked by indifference—after all, anyone personally escorted into the command center by the Legion Commander undoubtedly had impeccable credentials.

In the command center, Jing Shaoyu met the two deputy legion commanders of the Blood God Legion and the two division leaders under the legion. Zhang Huanyun personally introduced Jing Shaoyu to them and also introduced them to Jing Shaoyu.

"Everyone, let me introduce a young prodigy, a peerless genius!" Zhang Huanyun pulled Jing Shaoyu's arm and said with a hearty laugh, "Eternal Douluo Jing Shaoyu, twenty years old, a ninety-first-ranked Titled Douluo. From today onward, he will be our comrade-in-arms!"

The two deputy legion commanders and the two division leaders all looked at Jing Shaoyu with astonishment.

"Shaoyu, this is Long Tianwu, the direct superior of the Special Operations Division. If you have any requests in the future, you can go straight to him," Zhang Huanyun said cheerfully, pointing to a tall and handsome middle-aged man.

"Hello, I am Long Tianwu. Welcome to our ranks," Long Tianwu said, snapping out of his shock and immediately greeting Jing Shaoyu politely.

"Hello, Major General. I look forward to your guidance in the future," Jing Shaoyu responded with a smile.

Zhang Huanyun then introduced the other three to Jing Shaoyu before discussing his assignment. "Xue Yi and I have decided to confer upon Jing Shaoyu the rank of Major General, appoint him as the head of the Special Operations Division, and approve his formation of a special operations squad, which will report directly to the legion headquarters."

"This is excellent news," Long Tianwu said joyfully upon hearing this. "This will greatly strengthen the Special Operations Division!"

"Since that's the case, it's settled then. Notify the entire legion immediately," Zhang Huanyun declared with a decisive clap, finalizing the matter. He then added, "Old Long, I'll leave the rest to you. I still have inspections to conduct below. Shaoyu, Old Long will handle everything from here. If you need anything, just find him!"

With that, the legion commander hurriedly left the command center.

"This old Zhang, really..." Long Tianwu muttered helplessly as he watched Zhang Huanyun's retreating figure. He then turned to Jing Shaoyu and said, "Young brother, since you've just joined our legion, you might not be very familiar with things yet. Let me find you a temporary assistant to help you settle in quickly."

"Thank you, Deputy Legion Commander," Jing Shaoyu replied. "You can just call me by my name."

"Hahaha, then I'll take the liberty of calling you Brother Shaoyu," Long Tianwu said with a laugh. "If you don't mind, you can call me Brother Long."

Less than five minutes after Long Tianwu issued the order, the temporary assistant he had arranged for Jing Shaoyu arrived.

"Reporting for duty! Lieutenant Colonel Long Yuxue, Deputy Head of the Special Operations Division, awaiting orders!" A spirited female lieutenant colonel entered the command center, her voice clear and resonant.

"Good," Long Tianwu said, his eyes softening slightly at the sight of the female lieutenant colonel, though his tone remained unchanged. "Lieutenant Colonel Long Yuxue, this is the legion's newly promoted Major General, His Excellency Jing Shaoyu, who is also the new head of your Special Operations Division. The legion has decided that you will serve as his temporary assistant to help him familiarize himself with legion affairs as soon as possible. Are you confident?"

Upon hearing Long Tianwu's words, Long Yuxue instinctively glanced at Jing Shaoyu standing beside him. Her beautiful eyes revealed intense admiration and curiosity, but out of military discipline, she immediately responded, "Reporting, Deputy Legion Commander! I am confident!"

Long Tianwu was quite satisfied. He turned to Jing Shaoyu and said, "Brother Shaoyu, I've already informed the logistics department to prepare your dormitory, military uniform, and Blood God Ring. As for the military regulations, Major Long Yuxue will explain them to you. If there are no other issues, I won't keep you any longer."

"Alright, I'll take my leave then. Thank you, Brother Long," Jing Shaoyu replied with a smile.

With that, he turned and left the command center with Long Yuxue.

"Old Long, you're quite the schemer, aren't you? Having Yuxue take care of this young prodigy—aren't you afraid she might bring you back a grandson?" one of the division commanders teased.

"I'd welcome it!" Long Tianwu didn't hide his intentions and laughed. "I'm just worried my Yuxue might not catch his eye. A twenty-year-old Titled Douluo—good heavens, can you even imagine?"

"When I was twenty, I hadn't even become a Soul Emperor yet. What's there to imagine?" the division commander grumbled, his voice full of frustration and resignation.

By now, Jing Shaoyu had already left the military headquarters, with Long Yuxue following closely behind him.

The female major kept stealing curious glances at Jing Shaoyu, wondering how this esteemed lord could be so handsome and look so young—nothing like a Titled Douluo at all. He seemed even younger than Lord Xue Jiu.

"Stop staring. Which way now?" Jing Shaoyu naturally noticed Long Yuxue's scrutinizing gaze, but he didn't mind. However, the girl seemed completely absorbed, forgetting she was supposed to guide him. He had no choice but to stop and say helplessly, "Ah!"

Long Yuxue snapped out of her daze, her face flushing with embarrassment and guilt. She hurried ahead and said, "My apologies, Lord. That was my oversight. Please, this way."
