"Is the snake really that fragile?" Felix asked himself as the warriors and hunters slowly advanced on the still snake, their spears trained on it. When they got closer, they tried surrounding it as one of the hunters stepped forward and prodded the snake with the tip of his spear but it did not react.
"It must be unconscious. We must kill it before it awakens", Felix said to the head warrior who nodded in acknowledgement and with a wave of his hand, signaled the other warriors to strike.
As the warriors charged to strike and finish it off, the snake's eyes flung open as it evaded the spears and struck at the warrior who prodded it, tearing into his shoulder.
The warrior screamed loudly due to the pain of long and sharp fangs digging into his body as well as the acidic venom that corroded his entire body. A second later, he was nothing but a dead corpse.
The rest of the warriors stepped back in horror. Seeing one of their own getting done in by the snake, they hesitated in their attack. Taking advantage of this moment of hesitation, the snake quickly slithered away towards the shore.
Seeing this, the warriors quickly recovered and resumed the chase. With their enhanced strengths, the warriors flung their spears at the snake, aiming to kill it instantly but the snake managed to escape into the sea with only a few wounds across its body. It swam on the surface of the water trying to create distance between it and its pursuers.
"Get to the boats! We'll hunt it down and kill it!" the head warrior shouted angrily as the warriors split up, heading towards the three canoes on the shore. They got in and started rowing, chasing after the fleeing serpent.
With their strengths, each row caused the canoes to rocket forward, quickly closing the distance between them and the snake. Seeing this, the snake got more aggressive and turned around to face its pursuers.
It spat out long streams of its acidic venom at the incoming boats seeking to wipe them out instantly. Seeing the attack coming, the men attempted to dive out of the way into the water. Most succeeded but a few weren't so lucky. The acid venom managed to reach parts of their bodies, injuring them.
The venom melted the part of the canoes it hit, causing them to be filled with water and sink. Unable to continue their pursuit, the warriors retreated back to the shore with the injured so as to not make it easy for the snake to attack once again; cursing it all the way.
Oblivious to the curses flung at it, the snake excitedly swum away, finally escaping the island it was born in and disappearing into the distant horizon.
The injured warriors were rushed to the sick bay where Felix was able to counteract the acid venom with a specially made base to neutralize its acidity and allow for the wounds to be cleaned and bandaged.
As he cleaned the wound, he could not help but recall the village's old ways of medicine and shudder at the thought of being half buried and waiting for your death. He quickly attended to all of them and brewed them tea from a few herbs he had cultivated for medicinal purposes.
Once he was done, he returned to his partially destroyed home. He bottled up all his frustrations with everything that had just happened as he cleared the debris and repaired his home. A life was lost and a few others were seriously injured. It's possible they may not be the same again. He could not help but blame himself, although he knew the villagers didn't once blame him or hold him responsible.
With the Ginormaniser ray now also gone, he could no longer provide the service he had been providing so the village would have to return to their previous hunting styles.
Luckily for him, years of conservation had caused a massive boost in the population of game on the island. This would have been a problem in the future so it seems fate meant for this to happen, although it happened at a cost.
After he was done, he returned to his work desk and sat down to ponder. He reviewed everything that happened and started plotting how he was going to pursue the snake.
He took out his map and calculated the snake's bearing, trying to figure out how long the snake will be at sea before it reached the nearest shore.
"Sienna Metropolis huh?! I pray they are able to hold on until I'm able to come up with a way to neutralize the snake", he said to himself as he estimated how long he had before the snake would reach Sienna Metropolis.
He spent the time developing a toxin he thought capable of killing the snake. While he was synthesizing this, he was working on his helicopter that washed ashore alongside him when he was first rescued.
He had been slowing working on it to get it ready in case he needed to leave the island but now, he had to get it done quickly and make it capable of traveling the estimated three hundred miles from the island to the coast of Sienna Metropolis.
Gaining the help of the few intellectually gifted members of the village he had painstakingly trained and guided over the years, he managed to quickly finish rebuilding his chopper. He had to replace a lot of the components but with the abundant and barely touched resources of the island, he managed to replace them all.
His greatest challenge was transmuting the necessary fuel out of the little raw crude oil streaming out of the crude oil well he had discovered on one of his foraging explorations.
A few days later, all the preparations were ready. Even though he had every intention of returning, he still said his goodbyes to the villagers. Then, with three of the warriors outfitted in improvised armour, they took their seats in the chopper before Felix started it up.
The villagers were in awe as the strange contraption created a storm of winds before slowly rising into the sky.
With a final wave towards the villagers, Felix moved the control stick, steering the chopper towards the coast. The chopper picked up speed once it was over the ocean and soon, it disappeared in the distance.
