Three months after beginning his observation, he realized that the snake had grown abnormally bigger than others its age. Unable to find any other creature that could survive the artificial enhancement, he decided to observe the snake further in order to avoid any fatal or unexpected negative effects; keeping it in its cage, feeding it the corpses of the creatures that continually perished due to the experimentation.
One late morning, the hunters of the village; following their new hunting schedule, caught a few bucks and delivered them to his house. After placing it in the platform, the men left the room.
After waving the men off, Felix started setting things up for the meat expansion. He set up the Ginormaniser ray on a tripod and aimed it at the pile of carcasses heaped on the platform in the middle of the room.
After setting the timer for five minutes, he exited the room and sealed the doors. Due to the immense radiation emitted by the ray at the moment of activation, he had lined the entire room with a strong lead alloy to prevent it from leaking out.
As the radiation is necessary in the enlargement process, any biological entity nearby will be affected. Not knowing what it would do to the body of a living human, he decided to play it safe and have the device operate on a timer.
As the timer counted down, a sound from another room grew louder and louder. The little snake in the cage on top of a shelf in the next room had been bashing against the cage aggressively for a few minutes now.
Unknown to Felix, the amount of food given to the snake as meals had become woefully inadequate. He always left the snake still starving even though he just fed it. This resulted in the snake growing more and more aggressive over time.
It reached its breaking point when it sensed the fresh kills in the next room. It grew unhinged and started bashing against the cage to get to the food.
The cage inched forward with each bash and soon fell off the shelf, falling hard unto the ground and breaking the wooden lock. The cage burst open and, without hesitation, the snake charged towards the smell of fresh meat.
It bashed into a lead plate in its way that gave way easily, allowing it to enter the room. Without a second thought, the snake quickly climbed unto the platform and latched itself unto one of the dead deer.
With the multiple sharp fangs lining up its mouth, it started to literally rip off the meat aggressively and swallow it whole.
As it enjoyed its meal gleefully, the timer on the Ginormaniser ray slowly counted down to zero. A beam fired and bathed the entire platform in bright green light.
The snake screeched loudly in pain as the atoms and molecules in its body were forcefully expanded, increasing its mass. It thrashed wildly as it grew to a staggering six meters in length and half a meter in width.
As the beam bathed it, it continued to grow in size. In its anger, it thrashed with its tail, causing it to slam into the tripod and causing the Ginormaniser to fall hard on the floor. The beam glitched, reducing in intensity and drawing the attention of the snake, making it aware of the source of its pain.
Without any hesitation, it dove sharply at the device and swallowed it whole. Even though the pain was still there, it was greatly reduced now. With its hunger reignited, it attacked the enlarged carcasses near him and swallowed them whole.
....
Standing a good thirty meters from the house with the hunters, Felix waited for the process to be over and for the radiation to naturally dissipate. When the time was up, he led them up to the house.
Just as held out his hand to open the door, it was shattered as a large creature forced its way out. The scene before Felix and the hunters was uncanny. Before them lay an almost ten meter long Black Viper…a creature not native to the island and of which they know next to nothing about.
The Viper quickly attacked by spitting out venom towards them. The hunters recovered quickly and used their wooden shields to protect themselves and Felix from the acid shot.
To their horror, the spots on their shields that was splashed by the venom started to melt off. "Throw them down!" Felix instructed and the hunters quickly obeyed before it reached their hands.
"I never expected this. How can it spit out such corrosive acid? What kind of viper is that?" Felix asked himself as he was helped to his feet. With the doorway now clear, he could peer into the room. The chaos and destruction in there told a very telling story.
He immediately deduced what happened and looked at the snake in horror. The creature had swallowed such a dangerous device. "We need to kill it before it grows any bigger than this", he said to the hunters who immediately took action.
They hurled their spears at the beast but it managed to dodge almost all of it with its flexible body. The attacks that managed to make contact only left superficial wounds that barely slowed it down.
They stood shocked by the failure of their attack and the agile snake managed to slip by them in that moment.
Recognizing that they needed backup, one of the hunters ran towards the village bell as the others chased after the snake. He rung it loudly, drawing the attention of all the villagers who quickly assembled before him.
Felix quickly stood before them and briefed them on the current situation. He warned them of the danger of letting it roam free as well as the corrosive acid venom it attacked with.
Without any hesitation, the warriors of the village picked their weapons and quickly joined the chase. They chased the snake for several minutes through the dense forest until it approached the coast. As they kept up the attack amidst the pursuit, a large rock thrown by a muscular warrior struck the snake on the head, dazing it and stopping it in its tracks.
