A few hours later, near the border of the land of frost;
The Second regiment of Konoha's forces, along with a few of the third regiment, were stationed at the first line to encounter any incoming attacks from Kumo. Lookouts and Hyuga clan members were scattered along the line, keeping an eye out for anyone who may come from the land of frost.
The area was filled with trees, grass, and other vegetation. What is different is the very few snowflakes that are falling from the sky, which increase in amount the farther you look into the land of frost, making the lands in the distance look almost like a blank white canvas from the amount of snow covering everything.
Naruto, along with a recently arriving Jiraiya, sat on a wide branch, high on a tall tree, with Reiko sitting on a branch close by.
Jiraiya was already heading to the Kumo front when he got the message from Hiruzen's monkey summon to hurry up.
"So that's what happened until now, huh? You sure grow up fast." Jiraiya said with a proud smile that had a hint of hidden sadness in it. He just got a summary of what happened since the first contact with Kumo's forces.
He was happy and proud of Naruto's power and ability, but there was a bit of sadness in him about Naruto participating in large-scale battles this early. Children his age should be just about to graduate from the Academy. But Naruto is already a jonin who is still in Anbu. They are achievements that give an immense sense of pride but also some sadness that it had to have happened so early, especially in a time of supposed peace.
Jiraiya was pulled out of his thoughts when he saw Naruto extending his hand and giving him something.
Taking it, Jiraiya found out it was a piece of dried meat. Looking back at Naruto, only to see him eating one himself.
"What? I am hungry. I haven't eaten anything since my battle with Yugito." Naruto said as he took another bite.
Jiraiya looked at Reiko, who was also eating one, before he shrugged and took a bite himself, only to instantly pause after the first bite and taste.
"Naruto, what is this?" Jiraiya said as he swallowed, and he held up his bitten dried meat.
"Dried meat?" Naruto said with a slightly confused expression.
"I know that, brat. I'm asking why this tastes so much different from regular dried meat. It tastes so much better. Also, why do I feel like I have eaten a part of a food pill?" Jiraiya asked with confusion appearing on his face.
"Oh, that. This dried meat I made personally from premium cuts of meat. As for the food pill effect, I have spiced the beef with spices and my own blend of the food pill. So, eating one of these would be equivalent to eating a food pill. Just without the disgusting taste." Naruto said.
"You know Shinobi will kill each other for something like this. Why don't you sell it?" Jiraiya said as he took another bite of his food.
"It is too time-consuming and expensive to mass-produce these. Let's let the expensive premium meat aside. My blend of the food pill can't be called tasty, but it is infinitely better than the disgusting mass-produced ones. That is because I used very expensive ingredients and herbs; the dried meat is used to make it much more appetizing. If I even wanted to sell it, no one less than a jonin could afford it." Naruto said, surprising Jiraiya.
"What if I want to get some?" Jiraiya asked
"I can give you a few but if you want more you will have to pay for the ingredi...…." Naruto stopped abruptly as his eyes turned towards the direction of land of frost.
"What is it?" Jiraiya asked, slightly on edge.
"We got incoming." Naruto stood up pushing the remaining of his food into his mouth, an action that was mirrored by Jiraiya and Raiko.
"Eyes up, we got incoming." Jiraiya said loudly towards the Shinobi near them, making then get ready hastily. The Hyuga lookouts were startled as they haven't spotted anything with their Byakugan.
"Can you tell how many are coming?" Jiraiya asked
"I can feel the Chakra of about two regiments of Shinobi. They are led by two Kage level Shinobi. Their Chakra matches the signatures of the Raikage and Killer Bee." Naruto said with a bit of uneasiness in his tone.
"The Raikage is here?" Jiraiya exiclamed in a low voice. Surprise in his tone along with uneasiness.
"Yes, so you better be ready." Naruto said
And a few seconds later, the Hyuga lookouts paled.
"Kumo Shinobi"
"There is a lot of them"
"There are two Kage signatures among them"
"That is the Raikage, what is he doing here?"
"Killer Bee has been sighted."
And a few tense moments later, The Raikage appeared in direct sight of the Konoha Shinobi, his lighting coat absent, accompanied by Killer Bee followed by the Kumo Shinobi.
As the two sides eyed each other, a very heavy atmosphere settled. Kumo Shinobi gazes fill with thirst for revenge for their humiliation earlier, while Konoha's gazes were unsettled by the appearance of the Raikage, but unwilling to back down.
"Jiraiya." A said in some sort of greeting
"Raikage." Jiraiya replied with the same tone
"I wasn't told that you were here." Raikage said with a blank tone, Jiraiya's presence came as a bit of a surprise for him.
"I just arrived. Had to see what sort of mess Kumo started." Jiraiya said, which didn't affect A much but many of the Kumo Shinobi had a look of confusion on their faces.
Wasn't Konoha the one that sent out their troops first?
A didn't reply, instead he looked directly at Naruto.
"Release Yugito, boy." A demanded
"You are asking the wrong person, her fate isn't in my hands anymore" Naruto replied in a blank tone.
"Brat, you are the one who captured her. Have her released or the ground will be painted with your blood and the rest of Konoha's Shinobi." A said angrily as his lighting Chakra coat appeared along with is killing intent, which seemed to paralyze the genin and a lot of the chunin in Konoha's ranks.
Following the Raikage's lead, the Chakra of the Hatchibi started to form around Bee while the other Kumo Shinobi started to move forward, weapons and hands ready, waiting for A's order to attack with impatience.
