Chapter 808
Ron nodded.
"All right, Great-Grandfather."
"By the way, do you know much about Don Freecss?"
Maha Zoldyck shook his head.
"Not much. Just those books—probably about the same as you. But on the path toward the Dark Continent, Don is likely the one who's gone the furthest among all the known people."
"Actually, I have a theory about the Dark Continent," he added. "But I don't know whether it's right. Ron, you can treat it as a reference—but don't take it as fact."
Ron's eyes lit up slightly.
"Please, go ahead."
Maha Zoldyck began speaking.
"I suspect that on the Dark Continent, S-rank is merely the beginning. There are countless dangerous lifeforms—massive worms, twin-tailed serpents that emit a death knell, and many bizarre-looking creatures."
"But all of those are just appearances."
"Because those creatures can be killed."
"Guns, explosives—they're still effective."
"Even the ones with strange abilities—use enough firepower, and you can still blow them apart."
"Something like Poor Man's Rose is especially devastating. These creatures are certainly dangerous—dangerous enough to threaten even S-rank Nen users. But despite that, there's something about their existence that suggests they are not acting in pure chaos. Beneath their violence, I sensed the presence of a strange kind of order—subtle, almost imperceptible, yet undeniable. It felt as though some unseen force was guiding everything from the shadows, maintaining a warped but structured balance."
"There was one time, in a particular place, when I felt something very special—a presence that strongly attracted me. I knew instinctively that if I obtained that thing, I would undergo a fundamental transformation."
"I would step onto an entirely different path."
"One that diverged from being a typical Nen user."
"When I returned to the human world, I realized something: that feeling didn't only arise when I sensed that thing."
"It was already there—from the moment I reached S-rank."
"S-rank Nen users are fundamentally different from ordinary ones."
"It's not just a matter of power."
"It's not about aura volume or raw strength."
"It's something else—something hard to describe."
"It feels like… a thread appeared inside my body."
"And that thread extended into the void—pointing somewhere, though I couldn't tell where, or to what."
Ron's expression turned increasingly serious.
First of all, he could be certain that Maha Zoldyck would never lie to him.
Which meant this was Maha's genuine experience.
What did it mean?
Back in his own courtyard, Ron remained lost in thought for a long time, still digesting those words.
"If Great-Grandfather's theory is correct, then the situation on the Dark Continent may be even more complex than I imagined… but that also means greater possibilities."
A world of complete chaos would be useful only for resource extraction.
But if there was some kind of deeper order—then it meant that higher levels might be reachable.
S-rank wouldn't be the end.
Ron wanted greater power. He sought a higher realm.
He had come to a different world—and this was now his pursuit.
"But that's still far off."
"There's a long way to go before the Black Whale departs."
"Before I truly reach the Dark Continent, I still have several traits I can absorb."
"Kakin… and Minpo."
"Ochma might not fit within the time frame."
The V5 nations were: Fiora, the United States of Sahelta, the Republic of Minpo, the Republic of Begrossé, and Ochma.
Of these, Fiora, Sahelta, and Begrossé had already been assimilated by Ron. Their corresponding Nen beasts were Natsu, Akame, and Yuzuru Yamai.
Only Minpo and Ochma remained.
Ron already had a decent understanding of Minpo. Its relationship with the Kingdom of Fiora was extremely complicated. He had also interacted with Nen users from Minpo before.
Furthermore, his humanoid Nen beast—Rosgell—was once a hero of Minpo, a man who had helped free it from Fioran colonial rule.
But now, Rosgell no longer bore the same aura. After fusing with Lampent, Rosgell was shifting—evolving into something new.
With Netero's death, the Chairman Election arc was fast approaching. It wouldn't last long, and Ron figured absorbing Minpo's traits during this period would already be a success.
Next would be the Kakin arc.
That was something Ron could never afford to skip.
Though Kakin wasn't part of the original V5, it had muscled its way into the V5 and made it the V6 through sheer power and mysterious rites like the Egg of the Kings ritual.
Ron also had connections there—specifically, Morena.
In this situation, Kakin was clearly a better choice than Ochma.
"Before I set foot on the Dark Continent, I should be able to create two more Nen beasts."
"With that, my overall strength would take another leap."
"And truthfully… my strength is already quite good."
He thought back to the brief exchange he'd just had with Maha Zoldyck.
The two had only sparred lightly—just enough to test each other—but even that revealed a lot.
Ron's aura capacity was greater than Maha's. His physical body, as well, was far stronger than his.
Maha, like Netero, had entered the later stages of life. His body was deteriorating. Compared to his peak, there was a significant gap.
Unless he had some powerful hidden trump card, it would be difficult for him to match Ron now.
And even if such a trump card existed, Ron's arsenal was vast. He had far more tools than most Nen users.
"By Great-Grandfather's estimate, I'm already among the upper tier of S-rank Nen users on the human continent."
"Most of the elderly, declining S-ranks would no longer be able to defeat me."
"No question, reaching S-rank this time really was a transformation."
"My overall ability didn't just grow—it multiplied."
"But that was also thanks to years of accumulation."
"Foundation before breakthrough."
"Now… it's time to finish what's left of the Chimera Ant arc."
Ron entered Sumas's space.
He'd been too busy before. The traits from the Observation Platform's ultimate state had already been fully acquired, but he hadn't yet had time to manifest the specific Nen beast.
Now that he was back at the Zoldyck estate, he finally had time.
He closed his eyes.
"Begin."
In the next moment, he felt the aura within him surge rapidly into the crystal sphere.
The colour of the crystal began to shift.
