Chapter 123 - Izumi Miyamura: Xover - Chapter 121

Author's Notes: Chapter edited and corrected by Scott Fellman.

We sprinted, following Midoriya's trail as we climbed. We found one of the villains unconscious on the ground and ignored her as we continued on our way.

Once we finally reached the top of the tower, I looked around in confusion. For some reason, none of the villains were here.

I saw Midoriya pinned down with metal bars, barely in pain, Melissa on the ground trying to stand up, and the middle-aged woman who might be David Shield's assistant? She was lying on the ground unconscious with blood coming out of her arm.

I frowned. Speaking of David, he wasn't present. I immediately looked for the villain. Were they right on top of us?

"Izuku!" Bakugou exclaimed as she approached Midoriya and helped him free himself from being trapped by the metal bars.

"What happened here?" Ruby asked, surprised. I approached the middle-aged woman and began examining her. She had a bullet wound in her shoulder; it had barely grazed her; she'd been rendered unconscious by a blunt force blow to the back of her head.

That was easy. I quickly started patching up the wound and laid her on the ground to wait for the doctors' help.

"They have David! They took a machine that was stored in the warehouse! They have something planned on the helipad above! " Midoriya said immediately, almost panicking.

I frowned, so fast!?

"Melissa, can you take back control of I-Island?! We have to free All Might! We'll go find your father." Midoriya said once he was free.

"C-count me in, save my father!" Melisa pleaded as she stood up.

"Count me in! Let's go! " Midoriya said once free as he started running. We all followed immediately as Melissa headed towards the control console. The feeling of unease

We went out to the rooftop where the helipad was located. To my surprise, they weren't boarding the helicopter that was there, but instead seemed to be working on something. I frowned as I took in the scene.

It was a woman, but it was definitely Wolfram. She stood like a bodyguard, David Shield on the ground, his teeth clenched in frustration. His gaze shifted toward us as soon as he saw us.

Now, besides Wolfram, there was one other person. The other was someone I knew, someone I really didn't think I'd see here on I-Island, and I really didn't want to exist. Oddly enough, he was still a man, but I definitely knew him.

Arthur Watts.

What the hell was Arthur Watts doing here!? One of the villains of RWBY, an arrogant and selfish bastard.

"Ah, we have more guests," Arthur said with a grin, his mustache twitching happily as he looked over his shoulder at us. He was manipulating some kind of device while crouching down. What the hell was that?

Did it look like some kind of weapon? I wasn't technologically savvy enough to figure out what the hell it was. Which, if I understood, meant that whatever Arthur was manipulating was extremely dangerous.

Arthur seemed to place… a Dust gem? Jayce and Viktor's gems?! He put it in the center of the device, and the machine began to power up. I bristled completely as all my instincts began to blare.

This… this wasn't normal. Not even Shigaraki had gotten me to react like that. I had to stop him.

"Stay still if you don't want him to die." Wolfram threatened with his pistol as he pointed it at David Shield. I narrowed my eyes. I would definitely stop him. I squeezed Wado Ichimonji against my hip. I flexed my legs and-

"If I were you, I wouldn't do it," Arthur warned almost gleefully as he looked at me. "You have better things to worry about," Arthur mocked as he turned on the machine. Almost instantly, the machine began to hum, and large amounts of energy started to accumulate.

My instincts were going crazy. No. It wasn't just my instincts; my haki was also screaming at me to stop that.

I didn't have time.

I moved, in a blink of an eye, and I was close to Wolfram; she reacted just enough to shoot David Shield. I sliced through the bullet and deflected it easily, slashing at Wolfram's gun. She tried to use the metal around us to defend herself, but I sliced through it easily.

I swung my hand and appeared behind Wolfram, with all the strength I could muster, and that was a lot, I struck the back of Wolfram's head with the hilt of my sword, the aura protected it, but it made Wolfram stagger, I attacked the back of her head again, this time I wrapped the hilt of Wado Ichimonji with haki. I struck the back of her head with more force.

Wolfram let out a groan before collapsing unconscious. I rushed towards Arthur, who was grinning broadly, almost unconcerned. I tried to punch him, but before I could reach him, the familiar smoke appeared behind Arthur. Kurogiri was here.

Thanks to the night and the little light there was, the shadows were everywhere, so I was able to gather them in the palm of my hand. I then took out a dagger and threw it with all my strength towards Arthur.

"Good luck." Arthur sneered before disappearing. The dagger didn't arrive in time and simply continued on uselessly. I clicked my tongue. Damn. Damn. I turned back to the machine and nearly cut it to pieces.

But just at that instant, the machine finished charging and fired a massive beam of light into the sky. It seemed to reach its limit and exploded. My Observation Haki flared up again in warning; this wasn't normal, damn it!

The lightning seemed to finally condense in the sky, and a massive whirlpool of energy began to form. Slowly, an enormous red Gate began to take shape.

My eyes opened wide.

"What the hell-" I muttered in disbelief as I looked up at the sky. "What the hell is going on, Midoriya?" I asked quickly.

"It's… the Haywire portal." David Shield said as he tried to sit up while coughing.

"Haywire?! She really managed to create a Gate-opening device?! " Jinx asked in disbelief. She wasn't the only one surprised.

"She did, but it was determined to be too dangerous and ordered to be kept in the I-island vault. I didn't think... I didn't think anyone would know it was here, that anyone would want to get their hands on the device." David said through gritted teeth before coughing up blood.

"How the hell did the villains invade in the first place?" I asked, confused. My Haki kept pinging for some reason. It was ringing loudly in the back of my head, as if it were trying to warn me of something, but I couldn't find the impending danger.

"Arthur Watts, he was one of our fellow scientists; we thought he was dead. He… had I-Island credentials, and although they were removed, he was here with us for years. He's an extraordinary hacker; it's not surprising that he's able to hack into the island's defenses," David said bitterly.

"And all for what? To open a portal to I-Island? " I wrinkled my nose, looking confused. Something was wrong, but what? I need to find out that right away!

"He worked for AFO." Midoriya said solemnly. My eyes widened. I suspected as much, thanks to Kurogiri, but direct confirmation, this was bad.

"Did he say something?" I asked, frowning. Midoriya shook his head.

"Not in so many words, but he hinted strongly at it. From what I understood, it seemed she-" he pointed at Wolfram "-was going to raid I-Island in search of another device, some Quirk-enhancing device, but AFO found out about her plans and contacted her. She gave her... gave her some gifts in exchange for helping Arthur Watts get here," Midoriya said solemnly.

"Who's AFO?" Penny asked, confused.

"I'll tell you later," I said simply. I looked at David once more. "So what now? Will destroying the device close that enormous Gate?" I asked, looking up at the sky. The Gate was only growing larger. This was wrong. Everything was wrong. My Haki kept sending me danger signals that grew stronger, but I couldn't see anything. It was so frustrating!

David shook his head.

"No, from what I understand from Haywire's notes, the Gate will be treated like a normal Gate. You have to close it the traditional way, by killing the dungeon boss inside the Gate," David simply said. I sighed. Great.

"Then that's simple." I sighed, almost in relief. "There's a group of hunters and heroes around the island. We just have to regain control of the island, call them in, and close the gate. Even All Might will be here; Melissa was already on that." I said simply.

"Yeah, that would be best." David Shield sighed as he stood up with Midoriya's help. I watched them clumsily walk across the helipad, heading towards the interior of I-island, when my entire body froze. We all froze when we started hearing the sound of massive glass cracking.

We immediately looked up at the sky. The Gate was breaking.

"Why is it breaking? It just formed!! " I asked anxiously. Finally, the Gate broke with a crack that sounded like breaking glass. I watched in horror as the Gate suddenly widened.

If it could cover several blocks before, it now had a radius of several kilometers. The entire central part of I-island was covered by the gate in the sky.

Slowly, the first monster began to fall from the sky. I'd never seen monsters like that before. They were humanoid, seemingly wearing heavy metal armor. No... were they... were they zombies? Undead of some kind.

I began to pale as a second, third, tenth, thirtieth, and more, many more undead began to fall upon I-Island.

They looked like charred corpses; all their skin was blackened, but for some reason not melted or burned; they were simply black as coal, completely black.

They wore metal armor, thick and strong molten armor, along with weapons, swords, axes, and spears that were red-hot as if they were perpetually burning.

The eyes and mouths of the undead were aglow and burning with intense fire, illuminating the night sky with an eerie glow, the monsters leaving a trail of orange-yellow as they fell from the sky.

"Oh goddess," someone next to me murmured as we watched the destruction. The undead were beginning to spread across the island. The monsters fell like meteorites, barely flinching as they crashed into the ground, buildings, and other structures, destroying everything in their path.

Once they recovered, they began attacking everyone they found. I could see people running for their lives everywhere, even at such a distance. The island was packed, with the number of people who came for the pre-inauguration, and the number of people who arrived during the afternoon and evening for tomorrow's event—yes, packed, full of tourists.

Tourists who were now running uselessly for their lives.

The undead were the size of a normal person on average, but there were some that were twice as tall and wide. They were stronger, faster, and some of them breathed fire or caused explosions all over the place.

I gritted my teeth, I had to kill them all-

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOM I felt a surge of heat and flames licking my face as I looked up once more. The Boss was descending like an angel from hell. He was still engulfed in a ball of fire, but it was slowly dissipating. I prepared to jump towards him—

I took a deep breath as I staggered, my hand going to my eye. I could feel a stabbing headache between my eyes, as if my head was splitting in half. None of that had happened! Yet!!

Observation Haki?! Was that the future?! It had never been activated like that before!!! But I didn't doubt my Haki; my Haki had never lied. Everything I had seen would happen if I didn't do something immediately!

I looked up at the sky. I had to keep it from breaking!! As?! There was no time to warn anyone; no one would arrive in time! Even if All Might broke free and came, he still wouldn't be able to stop at least a large number of the monsters from falling onto the island and hitting the ground.

No, I had to do something… but what ?!

My eyes darted everywhere, but I couldn't tear my gaze away from the red Gate-

Red Gate! It's a red Gate!?

There was no time to hesitate. My shadows exploded and absorbed Midoriya and the girls, dropping David Shield. I muttered a mental apology, but there was no time for that.

"what-!?" "What the fuck!" "Izumi?!" "Let me go, damn it!" "What is this!?"

I flexed my legs. Godspeed. I shot out at enormous speed into the sky. Still, I didn't stop, continuing to kick the sky to increase my speed. I could hear a faint creaking coming from the Gate, but no matter, I had arrived.

I walked through the Gate and entered the dungeon. I looked desperately at the portal behind me, which slammed shut. I sighed in relief, almost wanting to cheer in victory, but I fell back as my shadows exploded and freed the others.

That was really close. Damn.

Author's Note: And I'm back!! It was a nice, much-needed little vacation! Chapter scheduling is back to normal!

I was going to ramble on about my vacation, but I'd better leave it aside this time. I went on some outings with my family, with friends, to some birthday parties, like my great-aunt's, who just turned 90, and more. I had fun, I rested, and everything was fine!
