Author's Notes: Chapter edited and corrected by Scott Fellman.
"Why are you wearing your costume?" Ruby complained as she looked at me, and I laughed lightly.
"First of all, it's not my hero costume. I mean, my haori is black, not red like usual." I said, pretending to be offended as I lifted my sleeve, a small smile threatening to grow on my face. Ruby snorted.
"Same difference." Ruby grunted with a pout.
"And secondly, this is the most formal thing I own. Like, literally, I don't own formal suits. I prefer my kimonos forever." I said honestly before smirking at her. "Besides, heroes and hunters are allowed to wear their costumes inside the party. That includes us as UA students." I winked at her. Ruby froze.
"And you're only telling me this NOW!? After I put on this dress and these stupid women's stilts?!" Ruby exclaimed as she pointed at her dress indignantly.
Ruby wore a short, sleeveless red dress with a thick black sash at the waist and a trim at the bottom. The bodice of the dress split vertically up to the sash and was held together with black lace. The collar and neckline were made of slightly opaque, sheer mesh with black lines holding everything together.
The dress ended at mid-thigh, so she wore dark, opaque pantyhose, along with black high heels.
"You look really magnificent." I said honestly. Ruby blushed slightly.
"I'm still going to change," Ruby snorted in embarrassment. I laughed lightly.
"We don't have time. We have to meet everyone at the central tower." I said playfully. Ruby grunted before sighing. "Well, we have to meet with Penny and Jinx first, then we'll go to the others." I added quickly.
"Fine, but I'm warning you that I'll be tripping over air throughout the party." Ruby threatened, and I laughed lightly.
"Don't worry, I'll make sure to catch you," I told her honestly. Ruby snorted, but linked her arm through mine.
"Let's go before I change my mind," Ruby growled. I nodded, and with that, we left our room, but not before extending my shadow and absorbing Crescent Rose into it. If this played out like canon, Ruby better not be unarmed.
"Are Taylor and the others here yet?" Ruby asked as we walked. I nodded.
"Yeah, the whole class just finished arriving about an hour ago. They should be finishing settling into their assigned rooms in the residential area." I said, recalling the messages Taylor had sent.
"Does that mean I can send you sex videos of us all night long?" Ruby asked with a lewd smile, and I laughed lightly.
"If you want to suffer tomorrow when we meet them, go ahead, do whatever you want," I said playfully. Ruby pouted.
"How boring," Ruby complained. I chuckled. Ruby quickly led us to the meeting point we had designated with the other two girls.
"Don't fuck with me! Why the hell are you wearing your costume and I have this dress?!" Jinx growled when she saw us.
"Hello? Black haori?" I said simply as I lifted my sleeve.
"Same difference." Jinx growled in annoyance.
"That's what I said!" Ruby snorted. I rolled my eyes as I laughed lightly.
I looked at Jinx. Oddly enough, she was wearing a dress I recognized, something I didn't think she'd actually wear.
It was a white dress, if it were a single piece. The skirt was fairly basic, featuring only a burgundy trim that ended just above her knees. The odd thing was the top, which resembled a fairly simple double-breasted waistcoat, featuring burgundy accents at the top and bottom, and elegant silver detailing along the top hem.
Over the dress, she wore a short black leather jacket with a few red and blue patches and some elegant gold details. The only thing that hadn't changed was her braids.
It definitely wasn't hers, or at least she didn't buy it. I'm sure she would have chosen a suit, or something similar. The details and decorations on the dress screamed Piltover; they were identical to the outfits I'd seen on Caitlyn, Jayce, and Viktor.
"Wow, you look so... piltie." I said with a smile, my eyes twinkling playfully. Jinx's expression turned to complete revulsion.
"I've never been so offended," Jinx said, wincing, and I burst out laughing.
"You look good, really. I've never seen you so well dressed." I said playfully. Jinx snorted.
"Don't get used to it. Caitlyn made it for me. I had nothing else to wear. I swear she planned all of this," Jinx growled angrily.
"Did you know that as UA students, we could wear our costumes?!" Ruby suddenly intervened. Jinx froze in place.
"That fucking daughter of a-!" Jinx growled as her hands choked the air. I let out a loud laugh at the deja vu; she did exactly the same thing as Caitlyn, obviously I couldn't resist what came next.
"Point for Piltover." I mocked her with a huge grin. Jinx glared at me.
"Fuck you." Jinx growled. I just smirked at her.
"Friends!" Penny shouted, interrupting us and getting our attention. We all turned around and saw her approaching quickly. "You look amazing!" Penny exclaimed with a huge smile when she caught up with us.
"Izumi's the same as always," Ruby complained. Penny blinked and looked me up and down.
"But... his Haori is black. Not red." Penny pointed out, confused.
"Thanks!" I exclaimed, loudly exasperated. "Finally, someone's noticed," I said mockingly.
"It looks the same," Ruby complained with a pout. Penny tilted her head in confusion, looking at me once more.
"He looks good, he looks handsome," Penny finally said. I snorted in amusement. I pulled away from Ruby and wrapped my arm around Penny's.
"And you dress well too." I smiled at Penny. "And since these two idiots can't seem to tell a red from a black, would you do me a favor and escort me to the party?" I asked in Penny's direction. Penny seemed to have stopped functioning because of how frozen she had become. "Penny?" I asked, blinking in her direction.
"Great, you broke her." Jinx snorted amusedly. I smiled slightly as I looked at Penny.
Penny wore a short, light green dress with short sleeves, a small, narrow black detail around the waist, and a white collar, along with a pair of light green heels. It was pretty simple, but it looked quite good on her.
"And hey! You can't replace me!" Ruby complained as she grabbed my other arm.
"Wow, wow, wow. He's my fake boyfriend! If anyone has to come in hanging off his arms, it's me! I can't let Caitlyn upset me about this or tell my sister. Or worse, Ekko sees me." Jinx said suddenly, grabbing the front of my haori and trying to drag me towards her.
Penny finally seemed to wake up, and for some reason, she held onto my arm more tightly than necessary.
"Izumi chose me, of course, I'll go with him," Penny said with a somewhat dangerous smile. I snorted in amusement. If this didn't get dangerous quickly and cause too many misunderstandings, I'd have to leave quickly.
"EMERGENCY! This is an announcement from the I-Island security system. We have been notified of an explosive found somewhere at I-Expo. I- Island is in alert mode. Your safety is our priority. Residents and tourists, please return to your rooms at this time."
"Anyone found on the streets after the next 10 minutes will be breaking the law. As a security measure, most buildings on Central I-Island will be sealed off. I repeat—"
The four of us fell silent as we heard the announcement coming from all the loudspeakers.
"What the fuck." Jinx muttered with a frown.
And I guess that's how it begins.
"Should we go back to the rooms?" Penny asked worriedly.
" Shh." I muttered as I pointed at the drones that began to activate. The three girls looked at me. "We should hide. For some reason, I don't get a good feeling about the drones being active." I muttered under my breath. The trio frowned, but nodded.
We quickly slipped into one of the buildings that hadn't been completely sealed off by I-Island's security system. With little difficulty, we made it to the rooftop.
We had a full view of how all the buildings were completely closed off with thick metal shutters, while dozens, if not hundreds, of drones patrolled the entire perimeter.
"This isn't normal," Penny murmured worriedly.
"Should we contact someone?" Ruby asked, frowning.
"Who? I don't think the teachers can do anything from UA," Jinx said dryly.
"All Might was at the party." I pointed out. That made some people's eyebrows rise.
"All Might was allowed to leave the country?" Jinx asked in surprise.
"I- island, it's in the Pacific Ocean, theoretically on neutral ground, so no one can complain." I said with a shrug. "The only reason there aren't more national or S-rank hunters is because most of them aren't interested in research and stuff." I pointed out. Jinx snorted.
"Guys... those drones don't seem friendly." Ruby said worriedly as she pointed in one direction. We all immediately looked over as we saw a group of drones surrounding a couple of people.
"What the fuck." Jinx muttered, frowning. "Okay, this shit isn't normal."
We continued to stare at everything in silence until the silence was finally broken by the sound of my scroll ringing.
"It's a call from Midoriya." I said suddenly, drawing the attention of the three girls. I immediately answered the call, and Midoriya's face, along with the others behind him, appeared. Immediately, the girls crowded around me to watch and listen.
"Miyamura!" Midoriya said worriedly. "Where are you?" he asked quickly in a low voice.
"Outside the central tower, we were just on our way when the security system went off. It doesn't seem like normal bomb disposal protocol. The defense drones almost seem like they're holding the civilians hostage, " I said quickly.
island's security system, they've got everyone on the island hostage, including the heroes at the party." Midoriya said urgently. The three girls' eyes widened.
"Were you at the party? Did you see All Might?" I asked with a frown.
"You just got out of there. They've got him restrained. They're threatening all the civilians if he acts." Midoriya said. I could hear Jinx curse and Ruby and Penny gasp.
"Okay, what's the plan?" I asked directly. I could hear Midoriya's sigh of relief at those words.
"We need to get all the way up to the top. Melissa said that's where the security system controls are. If she can get there, she'll be able to reboot the entire system and have control once again," Midoriya said quickly. I hummed softly. So, same canon plan?
" Mmm, I could feel your aura from here? Are we joining you?" I asked almost nonchalantly as I looked in a particular direction. I heard Midoriya chuckle lightly.
"Your observation haki is really scary," Midoriya said with a sigh. "But it's not necessary. I'm with Kacchan, Todoroki, Uraraka, Yaoyorozu, and Jiro. I'm sure that between us, we can make it to the top without attracting the attention of the terrorists."
"Sure? I'm sure I could have jumped up there," I said casually. I could hear the silence through the line as Midoriya stared at me blankly, and even feel the disbelieving stares of the girls next to me.
"Of course you can." Midoriya muttered. "We'll leave that as plan B. For now, we need to be as quiet as possible. I'm sure the villains will be watching the entire tower through the security cameras." Midoriya said. I simply hummed in agreement.
"Okay, if you need my help, turn your aura on as brightly as you can. I can feel it anywhere." I said immediately. I could hear him sigh in relief.
"It's a relief to have you as backup. Very well, we'll start moving. If you can keep an eye on everything, nothing should happen, but I don't trust the villains in charge of the security system." Midoriya said with a sigh. I snorted.
"I told you, I can handle it. In fact, I have a pretty good line of sight; I can cut the tower in half." I said lightly. I could hear muffled sounds through the call.
"...I don't know if you're joking, but please don't." Midoriya begged, and I just laughed.
"I'm not promising anything, I guess you'll have to hurry up and figure this out." I said amusedly. Midoriya sighed.
"Rose, no, better Kira- you know what, Polendina, please keep them out of trouble." Midoriya begged. Ruby, Jinx, and I looked at him indignantly.
"Don't worry, classmate Midoriya, I'll take care of the homework!" Penny said as she confidently pounded her chest. Midoriya sighed.
"Thanks, we'll be in touch," Midoriya said before ending the video. The four of us fell silent.
"…"
"…"
"Obviously, we'll go to the top of the tower, right? " I asked with a wide smile.
"You're a magician, you just read my mind." Jinx smiled widely.
"Obviously, was there another option?" Ruby asked excitedly.
"b-but-" Penny tried to say.
"Here." I interrupted her as I reached into my shadow and pulled out Crescent Rose.
"Yay!" Ruby said excitedly as she hugged her scythe.
"It's all I have." I said as I threw Jinx two chipped swords.
"They'll do." Jinx said with a sadistic smile.
"But Midoriya said-"
"You come, or you stay. It's your choice." Jinx said mockingly. Penny had a conflicted look before sighing.
"I'll go," she finally said submissively.
" Yay! A mission! Save I-Island before Midoriya's team! Go team! " Ruby said excitedly.
"It's not a competition," I said playfully.
"Everything's a competition if you make it a competition," Jinx replied playfully. I just shook my head.
"Alright, let's do this." I said as I took out Wado Ichimonji from my inventory and placed it on my hip.
Let's see what exactly is happening with these villains.
