Chapter 378: Tianya City, Conflict
"Ice River Valley's master, one of the three valleys…" Upon hearing Mo Yu's words, Little Doctor Immortal was momentarily stunned, and surprise flashed in her beautiful eyes.
"That person's status is so high. Mo Yu, isn't this... a bit too risky?" Little Doctor Immortal asked, worry etched on her face.
Although she didn't know the exact strength of the Ice River Valley master, Ice River Valley was one of the One Hall, One Tower, Two Sects, Three Valleys, Four Pavilions, which represented the most powerful forces in the Central Plains. Based on that ranking, the three valleys came even before the four pavilions.
In her mind, any one of the four pavilions alone was strong enough to crush the major powers of the Northwestern Continent. The fact that Ice River Valley ranked above them meant it must be far stronger than she could imagine.
Seeing her concern, Mo Yu smiled slightly. "Don't worry. We're not going to the Central Plains to immediately kill the Ice River Valley master. We'll wait for the right time, once we've gained enough strength, before putting the plan into motion.
"When we're strong enough, so what if he's the master of Ice River Valley? We'll kill him if necessary. Although One Hall, One Tower, Two Sects, Three Valleys, and Four Pavilions are famous across the Central Plains, the truly powerful forces are often hidden in the shadows.
"Once we kill the Ice River Valley master and have the Mysterious Yin Poisonous Thunder devour him, your Constitution of Calamity Poison will be cured. Heh, once you fully control that constitution, even the ancient monsters of the Central Plains will avoid you. Who knows, you might even become more famous than I am."
Hearing Mo Yu's detailed plan, Little Doctor Immortal's worries lessened considerably. As for his playful remark, she wrinkled her nose and playfully scolded him, "I'm not like you, a freak who, as a five-star Dou Emperor, can slay a seven-star Dou Ancestor."
Mo Yu was taken aback by her teasing, staring at her blankly for a few moments. When Little Doctor Immortal started to feel uneasy under his gaze, Mo Yu burst into laughter.
"Haha, Little Doctor Immortal, I prefer you like this. You were too cold before."
Hearing this, Little Doctor Immortal froze for a moment, staring blankly at the silver-winged youth flying further away. Her gray-purple eyes softened.
"Little Doctor Immortal, hurry up!" Mo Yu called back when he saw her lagging behind.
"Coming," she replied with a smile. She stepped lightly in the air, quickly closing the distance between them.
As she followed him, she whispered softly to herself, "Mo Yu… thank you."
Mo Yu and Little Doctor Immortal crossed the plains and entered the mountains. Soon, they saw a network of wide roads crisscrossing the mountain range beneath them.
On the roads below, they could see many people coming and going. Even from such a distance, Mo Yu could faintly hear the noise of the bustling crowds.
They weren't the only ones in the sky. As soon as they entered the mountain area, they heard the sound of wind being cut as several figures, with wings formed from various colors of Dou Qi or riding strange flying beasts, flew toward the mountains.
Mo Yu and Little Doctor Immortal's arrival immediately caught everyone's attention. Whether it was Mo Yu's dazzling silver lightning wings or Little Doctor Immortal's ability to walk in the air without wings, they were undoubtedly the most eye-catching pair.
Although Dou Emperors weren't unheard of, someone as young as Mo Yu was incredibly rare. And Little Doctor Immortal, being a Dou Ancestor, was even more extraordinary. In the Central Plains, Dou Ancestors were powerful figures, let alone outside of it.
Ignoring the surprised looks from those around them, Mo Yu and Little Doctor Immortal continued forward.
The first impression the mountains gave Mo Yu was one of prosperity. Even in the Black-Corner Region, it was rare to see such a scene.
"No wonder this is the most prosperous city within a thousand miles," Mo Yu murmured. He exchanged a glance with Little Doctor Immortal, and they continued flying forward.
After about ten minutes of flight, the massive silhouette of a city began to appear, partially hidden by the lush mountain peaks.
As they drew closer, the enormous city finally came into full view, and Mo Yu observed its scale with keen interest, nodding in approval.
As Mo Yu studied the city, they gradually descended. Just as they were about to reach the city's airspace, a flash of light shot up from the city gate and transformed into an elderly man in a yellow robe.
The old man, his expression stern, hovered in the air with Dou Qi wings vibrating behind him. He stood directly in Mo Yu and Little Doctor Immortal's path and said in a low voice, "Is this your first time in Tianya City? Don't you know that flying into the city is prohibited?"
"Yes, it is our first time here. We didn't know that Tianya City had so many rules," Mo Yu replied calmly, glancing at the old man in yellow.
"Dou Qi wings… a Dou Emperor?" The old man's face changed slightly as he sensed the vast Dou Qi within Mo Yu, like a bottomless ocean. When his gaze shifted to Little Doctor Immortal, his expression changed even more dramatically.
"Walking in the air… a Dou Ancestor!"
Shock surged through the old man's heart, but his expression softened. He cupped his hands toward them and said, "My friends, this is indeed the rule of the Luo family in Tianya City. Outsiders are not allowed to fly into the city."
"The Luo family's rule?" Little Doctor Immortal frowned slightly.
Seeing the dissatisfaction on the young Dou Ancestor's face, the yellow-robed old man, who was only a two-star Dou King, quickly explained.
"My friend, although Tianya City has many powerful forces, the Luo family has been the most enduring. Additionally, the city's spatial wormhole belongs to the Luo family. Our family also has an ancestor who is a five-star Dou Ancestor, keeping the area safe."
It seemed the old man was worried that Little Doctor Immortal would look down on the Luo family, so he hurriedly mentioned their five-star Dou Ancestor.
Little Doctor Immortal, however, wasn't too concerned. Although a five-star Dou Ancestor was strong, she could handle one. Besides, she had a freakishly powerful companion who could kill a seven-star Dou Ancestor.
Thinking this, she glanced at Mo Yu.
The old man was surprised when he saw this. In his mind, since Little Doctor Immortal was the Dou Ancestor, she must be the leader. But her expression suggested that the silver-eyed young man, who had remained calm all along, was the real leader.
Realizing this, the old man's respect for Mo Yu increased.
As the gatekeeper of Tianya City, the old man's strength wasn't great, but his ability to judge others was excellent. He knew not to underestimate these two.
Seeing both Little Doctor Immortal and the old man looking at him, Mo Yu nodded slightly. He had no interest in causing unnecessary trouble and only wanted to use the spatial wormhole to travel.
"Thanks for letting us know. By the way, where is the spatial wormhole in Tianya City located?" Mo Yu asked calmly.
The old man shook his head and replied, "You've arrived at an unfortunate time. The spatial wormhole is currently undergoing repairs and is temporarily closed. However, our family's experts are working on it, and it should be operational again soon."
"Closed?" Mo Yu frowned. He hadn't expected his luck to be so poor, much like Xiao Yan's.
"How long will the repairs take?" Mo Yu asked after composing himself.
"I'm not entirely sure. The repair process depends on the extent of the damage. Tianya City's spatial wormhole was built over a hundred years ago by one of our ancestors, with help from others. After so many years of use, it's developed quite a few issues. I ask for your understanding.
"If you're willing to wait a few days in the city, the repairs should be completed soon," the old man said, hoping not to offend Mo Yu.
"In addition, our ancestor is currently inviting Dou Ancestors to assist with the repairs. If the lady beside you is interested, she can visit the spatial wormhole at the city center," the old man added, glancing at Little Doctor Immortal.
Little Doctor Immortal didn't seem interested and instead looked at Mo Yu for his thoughts.
"Let's enter the city first." After a moment of thought, Mo Yu thanked the old man and retracted his silver wings, quickly descending toward the city.
After entering the city, the two found a clean tavern to spend the night in, intending to rest before continuing their journey.
The next morning, as sunlight filtered through the window, casting spots of light on the ground, Mo Yu opened his eyes. He murmured softly, "It seems we'll need to visit the city center today. After all, this is the only place with a spatial wormhole within a thousand miles."
Frowning slightly, he got out of bed, washed up, and then called for Little Doctor Immortal. Together, they left the tavern and headed toward the city center.
As they walked down the bustling streets, the cool morning air felt refreshing.
Suddenly, the sound of horse hooves echoed ahead of them, causing chaos in the street.
"Move, you dogs! Get out of the way! If you get trampled, no one's going to take responsibility!" a sharp voice called out.
Not far ahead, a girl in red, who stood out like a flame, furrowed her delicate brows and shouted.
Mo Yu's expression darkened upon hearing this. In both his past and present lives, he despised arrogant people who didn't know their limits.
With a flick of his finger, a ghostly green thunderbolt appeared and shot toward the horse beneath the girl in red.
With a thunderous boom, the poisonous lightning struck the horse, instantly snuffing out its life force. The girl in red, caught off guard by the sudden collapse of her mount, was thrown several meters into the air with a loud scream.
As her scream faded, two elderly figures rushed through the air, blocking Mo Yu and Little Doctor Immortal's path.
The two old men, one with gray hair and the other with white, looked ancient. Judging by their auras, they were between five and six-star Dou Emperors, making them fairly powerful.
"This friend, our young lady can be mischievous, but she's still just a girl. Wasn't it a bit much to attack her like that?" the gray-haired elder said, glancing at the injured girl before looking back at Mo Yu.
The elder had noticed that the mysterious technique used on the horse came from this silver-eyed youth. And while the youth's aura was about the same as theirs, perhaps even stronger, the elder chose his words carefully, without being too aggressive.
"I only hit the horse, not her," Mo Yu replied calmly, raising his eyes slightly.
"You scoundrel! How dare you act so arrogantly in Tianya City? You hit me, and my grandfather won't let you off! White Elder, Gray Elder, catch this man! I want him to kneel and apologize, crawling from the south gate to the north!" the girl in red screamed. She was infuriated by the blood on her hands and the humiliation she had suffered in front of so many people.
Her outburst, however, only earned bitter smiles from the two elders. While they might be able to take on Mo Yu together, the white-clothed woman beside him was a complete unknown.
"It seems your orders don't hold much weight. Or is it that you don't have any stronger people in your family? If that's the case, I'll be leaving," Mo Yu said with a cold smile, his gaze mocking as he looked at the furious girl.
His words left the girl momentarily stunned, though she wasn't sure why her two elders hadn't acted yet. But unwilling to let the matter go, she retrieved a jade token from her storage ring and crushed it in her hand. With venom in her voice, she hissed, "Hmph, my grandfather will not let you go! When you fall into my hands, I'll cut off each of your fingers one by one!"
As the jade token shattered, a gray light shot through the sky from the city center, quickly arriving above the street.
A sweeping glance was followed by a sudden surge of overwhelming energy, spreading across the area like a tidal wave. A chilling voice echoed in the air.
"To act like this in Tianya City… you really don't think much of the Luo family, do you?"
