Helen's POV
Long after I had removed my hand from the mirror, I could still hear the eerie throne room in my head. I could still feel the icy weight of the crown on my head and the emptiness of reigning alone because the vision was so clear. I tried to push the memories away by closing my eyes, but the image persisted.
"No... I gripped the mirror's edges and said to myself, "I won't let that happen." But I held on to the terror. But what if that bleak future was inevitable? What if I couldn't break free from the darkness Leoric was attempting to cast over me because I was ensnared in his schemes?
Reminding myself of Scott and the strength he had given me, I took a trembling breath. The warmth of his presence was still there, guiding me like a thread through the castle.
"Scott... I muttered, "I need you," with a twinge of urgency. At that moment, I heard faint footsteps behind me reverberating through the quiet room.
"Helen?"
