"Darkness Armor." Gildarts said, a smiling creeping onto his face.
Ivan nodded then took a bite of bread.
"The name is still a work in progress." Ivan said while chewing, crumbs flying out of his mouth.
Gildarts laughed.
The two young wizards of Fairy Tail were seated in the guild hall eating lunch together talking about their training so far. It'd only be a day since Ivan tested out his newest spell and a few months since their training began. Still the two of them were itching to get their first job.
Ivan couldn't help but wonder if they were ready. Last night he'd thought back to the anime and his own powers, where he stood now compared to main characters in the future. He didn't want to be arrogant and claim that he was a match for Natsu...but maybe other future members like Lucy or Grey.
Natsu was not only the main character, which already made him destined for insane power, but also had a broke magic. Looking back at the anime and Natsu character and taking the information, he gotten from this world, well he could see why Natsu was such a monster. He matched his magic perfectly, knew what he wanted, and never held much doubt in his own abilities. While it most defiantly the power of friendship in the show Ivan wondered how this world Natsu would be.
A voice brought him out of his thoughts.
Makarov's voice rang out through the guild hall loud and clear.
"Fairy Tail!" He shouted. "Listen up. I have an announcement to make."
Makrov stood on the second floor of the guild hall, looking down at the first floor with the dozens of guild members. He was wearing his white robe and, in his hand, held a staff of gold with the sigil of fairy tail at its top.
Ivan couldn't help but note the seriousness in his voice and on his face.
"The magic council has sent me word that they require my presence elsewhere, I have no doubt that it is to help fight against dark wizards, but unfortunately the exact location is unknown to me." He paused his eyes moving across the countless guild members, his children, they stopped on Ivan. "I am unsure of how long I will begone for but know that I will come back as soon as I can. Until then Bob will be acting in my stead as guild master."
All eyes turned to Bob who was only a few feet away from Ivan, the man didn't look startled, but he was defiantly not thrilled at the sudden position. He waved his hand to all the eyes before smiling.
"You'll all be safe in my hands." He said a musical note in his words.
Ivan chuckled; well this was going to be an interesting time indeed. Gildarts behind still eating away at his food snorted.
"Shoulda made old Rob the leader instead...Bob's kinda a werido." Gildarts muttered under his breath.
Ivan turned to him. "You've got no idea..." He said, then under his breath. "Wait until he forms Blue Pegasus."
Gildarts looked at him. "Huh?"
Ivan shrugged. "Nothing, but maybe, you know we could get him into letting us take a job? Gramps would make us take some small one saying it'll teach us stuff. However, I want adventure, what about you?"
Gildarts smiled. "Did you really need to ask?"
Ivan chuckled.
Maybe this was a bad idea, it was he knew it, but where the fun if he was always careful and training alone or with Gildarts. He remembered his passions, what drove him to learn magic what his foundation of magic was. In a way he might have been pressured by his magic to say those words, but he didn't think so. He could easily take what he said back, but why would he.
Makarov continued to talk about how thing's would work around the guild without him here, he said that now more than ever your rank as a mage would determine your jobs to the letter. He wanted no foolishness, his words, while he was gone.
Ivan and Gildarts looked at each other, well their goes that plan. Still, they could always just take a job, couldn't they? He saw that Gildarts had the same idea he had. Well at least they were on the same page.
With final words of farewell Makarov came down to the first floor and made his around, he stopped at the table where Ivan and Gildarts were sitting.
He looked at them closely.
"No foolishness you two, I don't want any trouble, this is a serious situation. Do you understand?"
Ivan nodded and Gildarts followed behind.
"Sure, thing gramps." Ivan said
"We won't cause any trouble." Gildarts spoke.
Ivan was surprised at honest they sounded, he almost felt bad for what he was about to do, but then again, they weren't baby birds. Sooner or later they'd have to learn how to fly, what better way with Makarov not here.
Makarov nodded, then gave them each a hug.
"I am proud of you two, you've both come a long way in the past a couple months. No doubt when I come back you will have grown even more."
A thought popped into Ivan's head. "Hey gramps, I was wondering where you said you were going?"
Makarov gave him a look.
"I said it was unknown...why?"
Ivan thought.
"Really?"
Makarov sighed then in whisper.
"Yes, it is unknown to all even me."
Ivan nodded.
"Ok, ok, just figure I'd ask."
Makarov raised his eyebrow then turned and said his farewells to others, he talked to Bob only for a few minutes then finally made his way out the door.
Makarov was gone, well for a little bit.
There was an awkward silence in the guild then, people went back to what they were doing, talking, laughing, eating. Ivan turned to Gildarts.
"At night?" He asked.
Gildarts nodded.
"Yeah, but around dinner, right? When everyone's eating. The only question is what job should we take?"
Ivan thought for a moment, then spoke.
"C-class? That should be decent pay and depending on the job a good adventure."
Gildarts shrugged.
"Sounds good with me."
So, the plan was set they'd take a C-class job and run with it, the plan was good until he remembered a very important detail. It hadn't been in the show, but he'd seen Makarov do it countless times, they needed a stamp, a magical one so they could prove they were real guild wizards taking a real job. Not just some common thieves pretending to be.
Ivan cursed under his breath.
Gildarts looked at him, confused.
"What? What happened?"
Ivan sighed.
"We need approval of sorts, a stamp to mark ourselves as real guild wizards."
Gildarts cocked his head.
"But we have the guild tattoos? Isn't that enough?"
That's what Ivan had thought, but...
"I don't think so, I mean it might work but the person who posted the job might be suspicious of us and if we run into the council with nothing to prove we actually got the job approved by the guild master, well that could prove to be a whole different problem."
Ivan brain began to work, how could they get Bob to stamp down. He wasn't that strict of a wizard, he would follow Makarov's rules and technically they were D class mages, meaning a sinlge rak from C.
An idea popped into Ivan's head and he smiled at Gildarts.
"I got an idea." This time the excitement in his voice could not be hidden.
"What it is it?"
Ivan smiled.
"The only thing you need to know is we're goanna need ale, paper, a quill, and wax."
---
Out of Ivan's entire plan what proved to be the hardest part was getting the C class job itself. He grabbed it from the board; the job wasn't that hard to most guild members since it was posted on the regular board.
It'd been one of the only three C class jobs that hadn't been taken, he'd chosen it more so because of the details. It was simple, children from a nearby town had gone missing and there was apparently some sort of monster presumed to be taking them. A dark job yes, but if it was only C class how bad could it be. The other C class job was guarding a merchant, a rather typical job for wizards and one that Ivan didn't really like as he imagined the merchant's to be stinge if anything.
So, he went with the other C class job, they'd slay a magical beast in Clover town and come back to the guild with some jewels to sped.
On a separate piece of paper Ivan had done the best he could to write D class in a fancy sort of way. He'd thought it come out good, but they'd have to wait and see. With ease he stuck the small piece of paper over the job rank, turning it from C to D.
It looked weird, but hopefully Gildart's was doing his part well.
When Ivan stepped back into the guild hall, he found that Guildart was doing his part very well, in fact he might have had the easier part now looking at it.
While Gildart's was only sixteen years old, he somehow could drink more alcohol than someone twice his age. While back on earth such a sight might have been cause for alarm here on earth land, well it was much more impressive and less worrying. With magic and all.
At the bar counter a stack of cups were found between Bob and Gildarts, Gildarts was still standing while Bob...Bob was laying over the counter his eyes open but not looking he was really here at the moment. Meaning it was the perfect time.
Ivan walked up to Bob and smiled.
"Bob?"
The older man looked at him.
"I-Ivan! Itsa so goodd to se-UP-you, excuse me." He turned and grabbed a cup of water.
"What can I help you with-ARGHa." He gulped down the water then turned and looked back Ivan smiling.
"Just a job me and Gildart's are going to take, well if that's alright with you."
Bob nodded then lifted his hand up, in a flash of light an item appeared. A gold stamp with the symbol of fairy tail.
"REQUIP!" He yelled loud and proud
Ivan startled looked at him, he hoped this man was alright.
Bob looking at the job for a moment, paused looked at Ivan, then smiled. He grabbed the papper and in a quick motion stamped it with the sigil of fairy tail. A gold light shown from the mark.
"IT IS DONE!" Bob yelled.
He then turned towards the guild and lifted the stamp into the air.
"I HAVE THE POWER!"
In a flash of light, the stamp was gone and Bob fell back.
Well, that had been easier than expected.
