"Boom!"
A blazing meteor tore through dozens of massive trees, hurtling toward the rugged mountain rock wall a hundred meters away.
"Crash!" Another thunderous impact echoed across the battlefield.
The rock wall, struck by the flaming meteor, shattered into countless fragments.
Mienshao, buried beneath the pile of rubble, could no longer rise to its feet.
Even though it had managed to activate Quick Guard at the last moment under Mustard's command, the outcome remained unchanged.
After all, Mega Blaziken's devastating kick was not something that could be easily defended against.
The attack began with Flare Blitz to accelerate its entire body, followed by Quick Attack to boost its leg speed. Then came High Jump Kick for explosive power, and finally, the technique was enhanced with Force Palm.
Four moves combined into a single, overwhelming strike.
The sheer power of this kick was absolutely terrifying.
Mienshao's instant defeat was completely understandable.
After all, within Chris's entire team, aside from Mega Blaziken itself, only his Kubfu—who had been training alongside it—could skillfully merge four different moves into one devastating attack.
"Your Blaziken has been trained exceptionally well," Mustard remarked as he retrieved Mienshao into its Poké Ball. He gazed at Chris's Blaziken with an approving nod.
Without hesitation, he pulled out another Poké Ball and released his next Pokémon.
Silver light flashed brilliantly across the battlefield, and a tall, imposing Pokémon materialized before them.
It possessed black and white fur with a distinctive white headband across its forehead. Its eyes were razor-sharp and filled with unwavering determination, while its overwhelming presence felt as immovable as a mountain itself.
Urshifu (Single Strike Style) LV97
"Urshifu..." Chris's eyes widened in surprise.
Mustard owned two Urshifu—this was something Chris had learned during their first meeting. He had assumed that Mustard would save these two legendary martial arts masters for the final two positions in his lineup before sending them into battle.
Yet unexpectedly, it was only the second match, and Mustard had already deployed his trump card.
It seemed that Mega Blaziken had posed enough of a threat to warrant this early deployment.
"Be careful now. This is my Single Strike Style Urshifu. Its specialty is finishing opponents with a single, decisive blow," Mustard warned.
"What a coincidence—my Blaziken also specializes in one-hit-kill techniques," Chris replied with quiet confidence.
"Is that so?" Mustard smiled knowingly. Without wasting another word, he immediately raised his hand and issued his command. "Wicked Blow!"
Urshifu instantly stepped forward with its right foot, and dark gray energy erupted from its body. With the Pokémon as the epicenter, the surrounding area seemed to plunge into a shadowy realm.
Wisps of gray energy condensed into visible streams, flowing from all directions and wrapping around Urshifu's powerful frame.
An immense power was being cultivated and accumulated within.
An extremely dangerous and suffocating atmosphere engulfed the entire battlefield.
Several brave Trainers who had been watching the battle from the beach immediately fled the scene, some even considering whether they should evacuate the Isle of Armor entirely.
This attack looked powerful enough to potentially shatter the entire island.
Chris couldn't help but raise his eyebrows at the display.
Wicked Blow—the exclusive signature move of Single Strike Style Urshifu.
In the games, the move's base power wasn't particularly overwhelming, not even reaching the strength of moves like Crunch or Aura Sphere, both of which had base powers under 100. However, it possessed a devastating property: it always landed critical hits.
The attack method being demonstrated by the Urshifu before him, however, clearly wasn't lacking in raw power whatsoever.
It was incredibly powerful and guaranteed to strike a critical point.
It truly embodied the concept of one strike—one hit to end everything.
But Chris didn't back down. He didn't even blow his whistle to signal a strategy change.
Although Blaziken excelled at its "Fire Chain Kick" technique, and the combination of Blaze Kick plus Force Palm plus Double Kick had become its iconic attack pattern, ever since Chris's breakthrough in the Ferrum Region, Blaziken's training direction and combat approach had shifted from combo attacks to single, devastating strikes.
Because...
Chris silently retrieved an item from his pocket.
A golden crystallized ore about the size of a fist.
This was a "Resonance Stone" from the Ferrum Region. It would grant Blaziken access to new powers.
Then he pulled out a Fire-type Z-Crystal from another pocket.
"Z-Move: Inferno Overdrive!" Chris first pressed the Fire-type Z-Crystal onto the Z-Power Ring fastened to his wrist.
Light flashed brilliantly, and crimson energy burst forth from Chris's body, cascading down onto Mega Blaziken.
Mega Blaziken's entire form was immediately enveloped in bright, dazzling flames. The blazing fire surged upward in towering pillars that seemed capable of tearing apart the darkening sky itself.
The terrifying heat had already caused several meters of the surrounding ground to essentially evaporate.
Mega Blaziken's features were no longer visible—it simply hovered in midair, wreathed in flames.
It looked remarkably similar to a Super Saiyan transformation.
A massive red fireball rapidly formed at its chest. This sphere was composed of highly concentrated flame energy—the very essence of the Z-Move "Inferno Overdrive." The "Super Saiyan" appearance of Mega Blaziken was merely a visual side effect.
But it wasn't finished yet.
Chris raised the Resonance Stone high and gave his command.
"Blazing Radiant Kick!"
The Resonance Stone burst forth with brilliant, pure light.
Unlike Dynamax, Mega Evolution, or Z-Crystals, the power required for the Resonance Stone came entirely from the Pokémon itself—condensed from the "energy and fighting spirit" accumulated through countless previous battles.
It was a special technique that could only be unleashed once certain conditions were met.
And Mega Blaziken had accumulated sufficient energy from its earlier battle against Mienshao.
"Sha!" A sharp cry erupted from Mega Blaziken.
The flames surged even higher.
The "Inferno Overdrive" fireball was launched skyward by Mega Blaziken, which then leaped hundreds of meters into the air, gathering all its strength at the highest point.
"Whoosh!"
Mega Blaziken kicked forward with tremendous force. Its body was accelerated by countless flames, piercing straight through the "Inferno Overdrive" sphere, causing its velocity to increase exponentially once more.
A perfect "Meteor Kick"—like a shooting star descending from the heavens!
This was Mega Blaziken's ultimate finishing move.
The core technique was the exclusive Resonance Move "Blazing Radiant Kick," augmented by the Fire-type Z-Move "Inferno Overdrive" and the diving mechanics of Brave Bird, with the additional difficulty of incorporating High Jump Kick.
Chris had named this technique "Crimson Knight Kick."
Meanwhile, on the ground, Urshifu had also completed its charge. Now cloaked entirely in dark haze, as if wearing pitch-black armor, its form was barely distinguishable.
It raised its head slightly, locking its fierce gaze onto the Mega Blaziken descending from above, and took one powerful step forward. The mist that filled the battlefield condensed into an enormous bear's head that roared toward the sky.
"ROAR!!"
With a thunderous bellow filled with primal ferocity, the accumulated power within Urshifu exploded outward in an instant.
With a single devastating punch, the giant spectral bear surged upward into the sky!
The next moment, the colossal bear collided head-on with the meteor descending from the heavens.
