"Grovyle is unable to battle. Pikachu wins!"
After Grovyle was struck down by Pikachu's Thunderbolt, the female Trainer acting as referee quickly rushed to check on Grovyle. Once she confirmed it could no longer fight, she immediately declared the result.
Clap, clap, clap~~
Pikachu had just achieved a one-versus-six victory. The surrounding Trainers and spectators not only gasped in admiration but also broke into applause for Sato and Pikachu.
With the battle over, Sato led Pikachu away from the open-air battlefield under the awed gazes of the crowd. They headed to a nearby ice cream shop.
According to their agreement, if Pikachu managed to sweep six opponents, Sato would treat it to the shop's most expensive sundae.
Before long, a sweet-looking waitress handed over a towering sundae, which Pikachu happily took and began devouring while sitting atop the table.
Sato, of course, didn't neglect his other Pokémon — he ordered each of them an ice cream or drink suited to their tastes.
But just as Sato and his Pokémon were enjoying their treats, a group of well-dressed Trainers approached. Their eyes never left Pikachu, and though they tried to hide it, their envy and greed were plain.
Sato knew exactly what they wanted. Their goal was to get Pikachu from him.
Pikachu had been dazzling in recent battles, inevitably drawing attention and covetous stares. Some spoiled rich kids, believing Sato to be a powerless commoner, had even directly demanded Pikachu. Others tried to offer rare Pokémon or treasures in exchange.
But whether it was threats or tempting trades, Sato flatly refused them all.
As for those who tried to take Pikachu by force, Sato showed no mercy. In recent days, several such arrogant heirs had met "accidental" deaths.
Using psychic techniques like hypnosis, mental/psychic suggestion, and teleportation, killing a few ordinary people without leaving a trace was child's play for him.
Perhaps noticing the pattern in those "accidents," and with Sato deliberately spreading word of his ties to Captain Reggie — a high-ranking League official — the bothersome flies had nearly vanished over the past two days.
Now, Sato again rejected the lavish offers of several Trainers who wanted to trade high-level Pokémon for Pikachu. He firmly told them that none of his Pokémon would ever be traded.
Pikachu was his ace now. With the Light Ball (a Mutated Thunder Orb), its offensive power had become terrifying. A single STAB Thunderbolt could reach a frightening base strength of 675, enough to overwhelm almost any ordinary Pokémon.
(Note: 675 = 90 × 1.5 × 2.5 × 2. Here, 90 is the base power, 1.5 is STAB, 2.5 is Light Ball's boost, and 2 is the Light Ball's charge effect.)
Of course, Pikachu's weakness was equally obvious. It was now the very definition of a glass cannon: sky-high offense, paper-thin defenses. With base Defense at 40, Special Defense at 50, and HP at only 35, any strong hit — especially a physical one — could cripple it or knock it out instantly.
Put simply, Pikachu was like a child wielding a giant hammer: fragile in body, but terrifying in destructive power.
Still, Sato didn't mind. Pikachu's natural stats were low, but with the Light Ball (mutated Thunder Orb) amplifying its output, it had already undergone a complete rebirth.
"The best defense is offense" — that was the battle style Sato wanted Pikachu to embrace. Continuous, overwhelming attacks to suppress opponents until they had no chance to retaliate.
And Pikachu hadn't disappointed. With access to top-tier training resources, it displayed power that fully satisfied Sato.
In the past few days, Pikachu had racked up forty-three consecutive victories. Most opponents at its level couldn't even withstand a single Thunderbolt.
The core ingredient of Pikachu's custom food was Electrowood leaves. After helping Vanna escape Tomoki's threat, Sato finally received over a dozen of these precious leaves from her.
Using them, along with auxiliary ingredients, he was able to prepare a special diet for Pikachu — enough to last an entire year. After that, he would have to find more Electrowood leaves.
On another front, in the black market, Sato had used the family crest given by Wallace to purchase several Deep-Sea Scales. These rare items were the key ingredient in Swampert's exclusive food. With this, Sato solved the looming crisis of running out of Swampert's special diet.
Swampert's extraordinary physique was largely due to this diet, which steadily enhanced its body over time. That was why Sato was willing to pay any price to keep supplying it.
Pikachu's food also didn't disappoint. After eating it, Pikachu showed clear signs of improved physical condition — evident in how it could now handle more frequent uses of the Light Ball (mutated Thunder Orb.)
The Ball/Orb had been nurtured within the body of an Elite-Four level Pikachu, one that had absorbed the power of many powerful Electric-type legendary Pokémon. Its stored energy was unimaginably violent.
Even with the ability Lightning Rod and outstanding talent, Pikachu had nearly injured itself when first trying to wield it.
But it endured. Eventually, it fully absorbed the Ball/Orb, establishing a symbiotic bond much like Swampert had with its mutated Supreme Blue Water Stone.
Still, the immense power within the orb was harsh on Pikachu's body. Every time it drew upon that power, the strain was enormous.
With its current physique, Pikachu could at most use a fully charged Thunderbolt ten times a day. Beyond that, it needed rest, or risk total collapse.
That meant Pikachu had to win quickly. If it failed to finish battles with overwhelming lightning strikes, it would become dangerously vulnerable once its body gave out.
Fortunately, Pikachu's rapid growth and improved condition — bolstered by its custom food — meant it no longer collapsed after just one or two Thunderbolts like before.
...…
(Note: Guys, would you like me to just use 'Light Ball' or call it the 'Thunder Orb'?)
