"Reversed Cursed Technique, Cursed Technique Reversal, Reversed Cursed Technique, Cursed Technique Reversal..."
At Tokyo Jujutsu High, Geto Suguru sat on the edge of a tree planter, reading a book while enjoying the shade and the soft summer breeze.
His face was repeatedly illuminated by flashes of red light, then fading into darkness, only to be lit up again. This cycle had been going on for a while.
Not far away, a white-haired boy was waving his fingers in the air over and over, bright red light flickering at his fingertips.
"Cursed technique—"
A cicada clung to the tree trunk, chirping loudly in the summer heat. But as another burst of red light flashed, it lost its grip and fell from the tree, its cry cut off abruptly.
Geto's eyes slowly turned dead and lifeless.
With a sigh, he snapped his book shut and said helplessly, "Gojo, no matter how many times you repeat it here, you're not going to learn Reversed Cursed Technique or Cursed Technique Reversal just like that."
Gojo Satoru turned his head with an annoyed look, glaring at the bun-haired boy. Then, as if all his energy had drained away, he slumped down, even his usually perky white hair drooping.
He plopped down next to Geto Suguru, leaned back on his hands, and let out a deep sigh. "Why can't I do it? Ugh!"
"Why not ask Miss Yukinoshita for advice?" Geto casually suggested as he went back to his book.
"Over my dead body!" Gojo bared his teeth at him like a child making a face. "I'd rather ask Shoko than that person!"
With that, he pulled his phone from his pocket and called Ieiri Shoko without hesitation.
"What do you want?"
A short-haired girl with brown hair walked over lazily, half-lidded eyes and a lit cigarette between her lips. She looked like she'd rather be anywhere else.
"You gotta teach me how to use Reversed Cursed Technique to heal properly!" Gojo demanded urgently.
"You've asked me this before." Shoko turned to Geto, who was watching with an amused look. "What's wrong with him this time?"
"He got shown up by someone," Geto said with a helpless shrug, like he was used to this.
"Hmph!" Gojo crossed his arms and looked away.
"Are you talking about that girl? The one who became a vessel but somehow coexists peacefully with the being inside her?" Shoko asked curiously.
"Yeah, that's the one. She can use Reversed Cursed Technique to heal others, just like you. And from what I've seen, she does it at an incredibly high level." Geto closed his book, rested his chin on his interlocked fingers, and spoke in a serious tone. "I'd bet she could even heal fatal injuries."
When Fushiguro Toji had stabbed him, if Shoko had been the one treating him, it wouldn't have been quick. She would've needed to put him on an operating table, stitch him up, and go through proper medical procedures to fully heal him.
But Hayashizaki? She healed his wounds completely in… what, less than five seconds?
Afterward, he looked as if he had never been injured in the first place.
"Wow. That's impressive."
Shoko's voice was completely flat, as if she couldn't care less.
"Reversed Cursed Technique is just taking negative energy inside you and stacking it until it cancels itself out, turning into positive energy. Sounds simple, but it's impossible to pull off."
Gojo Satoru held up a finger, a flickering red glow of unfinished Reversed Cursed Technique forming at the tip. He sighed again and then snuffed out the light in his palm.
"It's simple, really. You just—whoosh—like this," Ieiri Shoko waved her finger in the air. "Whoosh~ Bam~ You don't get it? Wow, you really have no talent."
Ignoring the vein twitching on Gojo's forehead, she exhaled a puff of smoke straight into his face.
…
Something had changed in Hayashizaki's soul domain—something beyond words.
The once calm, blood-red sea, smooth as a mirror, had turned pitch black, as if ink had spilled into it. The surface bubbled like a toxic swamp.
That inky, poisoned sea crept upward, consuming the towering white bones in the domain. It looked like it was trying to turn the entire Kitchen God's domain into one controlled by the Ten Shadows Technique. The Buddha shrine in the domain was now formed from shadows.
But this wasn't some uncontrolled clash between two techniques—it was something Hayashizaki had done on purpose.
He had been experimenting with something new.
Why? Simple. Staying inside Yukinoshita Haruno was way too boring.
It was nowhere near as fun as being inside Yukinoshita Yukino. At least with her, when things got dull, he could mess with her a little.
Haruno, though? She didn't fall for that kind of thing. In fact, if he wasn't careful, she'd end up turning the tables and messing with him instead.
Better to just focus on research.
People say that mastering Black Flash and the Reversed Cursed Technique lets you understand the core of cursed energy.
But no one ever talks about understanding its true nature.
Hayashizaki wasn't interested in how cursed energy was created—he wanted to find out how far it could go.
Cursed energy is negative energy. It can be used for attacks, strengthening the body, and activating techniques. When reversed, it turns into positive energy, which heals the body and alters how certain techniques work.
But is that really all it can do?
Nobody knows for sure, but Hayashizaki chose to believe it could do more.
Still, starting with cursed energy itself was unrealistic. Instead, he decided to begin with techniques.
The changes in his soul domain were the result of trying to merge the Kitchen God's Domain with Chimera Shadow Garden.
And the result was clear—he had failed. Miserably.
What he ended up with was a messy, half-baked hybrid that looked like neither technique.
But it wasn't a big deal. It was just his soul domain—nothing more than a simulation. Changing it back would take nothing more than a thought.
Besides, he was getting tired of the old scenery anyway. A change of pace wasn't so bad.
With the domain fusion a bust, he turned his attention to techniques.
There wasn't much left to study about the Kitchen God's Technique, but the Ten Shadows Technique? Now, that had potential.
Despite being a summoning technique, the Ten Shadows Technique wasn't really about the shikigami.
Except for Mahoraga, the other nine shikigami were, at their core, made entirely of shadows.
That meant the real foundation of the technique wasn't summoning—it was shadows themselves. That was the true underlying logic of the Ten Shadows Technique.
A young man with black hair sat on a Buddha shrine, a mass of pitch-black shadow floating above his outstretched palm. It shifted like clay, molding into different shapes.
He was trying to break the technique down piece by piece.
Then, a voice called to him from outside, pulling him back to reality.
Hmm?
He glanced out.
Wasn't that little Gojo Satoru?
What was that guy doing here?
