Chapter 338: Return to the Labyrinth City
The two sat on the sofa, staring at each other.
Helena hesitated several times, trying to speak but stopping herself, swallowing her words.
After a while of internal struggle, her expression grew firm. Her cheeks flushed, and she lowered her head.
"Um... I... I think I'm pregnant."
Seeing Helena's shy demeanor, Li Meng grinned.
From the moment he saw her at the door, he had already noticed.
Li Meng's eyes shifted to Helena's belly.
"When it's too obvious to hide, head to the Brotherhood's stronghold. You'll have privacy there."
After all, Helena was a married woman. If word got out about her pregnancy and childbirth, she would face harsh criticism.
Luckily, the labyrinth city, Aukladeo, was a chaotic place. Spending a few years there was hardly unusual.
Helena nodded lightly. "Yes, I'll go."
She had no choice but to hide in the Brotherhood's stronghold for a while. As her belly grew, the truth would become impossible to conceal.
And she didn't want anyone to know about her pregnancy or the child.
"Let's leave together for the labyrinth city tomorrow. We'll take the shortcut through the 13th floor."
The 13th-floor shortcut?
Helena knew the route well. "But the other end of the teleportation magic circle leads to the Corrupt Slime's chamber. That labyrinth monster is troublesome."
Slimes usually lacked offensive power, but the Corrupt Slime was no ordinary slime. It was a labyrinth monster. Even god-tier professionals would struggle against it.
"The Corrupt Slime has already been dealt with. It likely won't respawn so soon."
Labyrinth monsters were regenerative, especially bosses, which could be killed and reborn repeatedly.
The deeper the labyrinth floor, the longer it took for bosses to respawn. The boss on the first floor might return in days, but the boss of the 41st floor would need about a year.
"The Corrupt Slime is dead?"
Helena's eyes brightened at his words.
Of course, if it were Silver Mask, killing a slime monster should be simple.
Helena smiled faintly and brushed a strand of hair from her forehead.
"Alright, let's travel together."
Her casual gesture was enough to captivate Li Meng.
He let his gaze sweep over Helena's voluptuous figure.
"Helena, let's sleep together."
Li Meng's bluntness never changed, nor did he hide his desires for the opposite sex.
Helena's cheeks flushed as she lowered her head. Silver Mask, really? In broad daylight?
Then again, there was no day or night in the labyrinth.
Li Meng stepped forward, bent down, and scooped Helena into his arms.
Helena didn't resist his actions. Carrying her, Li Meng strode toward the bedroom on the second floor.
Before long, the room was filled with the heavy sounds of their breathing, breaking the silence.
---
The next morning—or rather, after they woke up—the two left the mansion to begin their journey back to the labyrinth city.
"Shouldn't you say goodbye to the Water Dragon Knights?"
Rogue Town was bustling, as always. As they strolled through the lively streets, Li Meng glanced at Helena beside him.
Helena smiled softly and shook her head. "I already said goodbye yesterday. I just felt it was necessary to see you before leaving."
Though Helena was a Great Sage, she was also a water-elemental god-tier Great Sage. Even traveling alone in the labyrinth posed little danger to her.
While mages and sages were weak in close combat, they had plenty of defensive measures. To attack a god-tier mage, one would need at least saint-tier strength.
Even a king-tier professional might succeed, but only with a surprise attack.
"Silver Mask, you must be new to the labyrinth city, Aukladeo, right?"
"What makes you think that?" Li Meng asked, turning to Helena with curiosity.
Helena smirked, her eyes scanning him briefly.
"Someone as high-profile as you would have been famous in Aukladeo long ago. But news about you only recently spread. For instance, when you wiped out the Brotherhood Thieves' Guild, it caused a big stir. And let's not forget the Brotherhood's magical brew that could regenerate severed limbs. With exploits like that, you couldn't avoid fame even if you tried."
Ever since arriving in Aukladeo, Li Meng's actions had indeed been high-profile.
Single-handedly eradicating the notorious Brotherhood Thieves' Guild was a feat that cemented his reputation.
The Brotherhood had many enemies, and their downfall surely brought joy to many.
"So that's why I'm so famous. Interesting."
Li Meng didn't care much about his notoriety.
Staying low-key had its benefits, but so did being well-known.
Fame was a form of power, and the Brotherhood needed his influence to survive in Aukladeo. His high-profile actions had been necessary.
"Exactly. There aren't many people in Aukladeo who don't know Silver Mask."
Single-handedly wiping out the Brotherhood Thieves' Guild, forcing the Red Battle God Brunfield, the Berserk Emperor Hercules, and the Red Sword Emperor Jacqueline to retreat with just his words, and recently battling three god-tier professionals in Rogue Town—how could someone with such feats not be famous?
"Once I leave, they'll only have my legend to remember."
Helena's expression shifted slightly.
"Silver Mask, are you leaving Aukladeo?"
It wasn't hard to glean from his words.
"Yes, I've accomplished what I came here for. It's time to go back."
"Um... Silver Mask, where is your home?"
Helena hesitated to ask, but she couldn't suppress her curiosity. She wanted to know where Silver Mask came from.
Perhaps one day, during her long life, she would want to see him again.
"Southern Continent, Goblin Forest."
Li Meng didn't hide his origins. The Southern Continent's Goblin Forest was indeed his home in this world.
No matter how far he traveled, he would eventually return home.
"The human continent?"
"Yes, at the southernmost tip."
"So... are you human?"
"No."
Helena didn't ask further. Knowing he wasn't human was enough.
The journey out of Rogue Town went smoothly.
No arrogant troublemakers appeared, as often seen in clichéd face-slapping stories.
Adventurers valued their lives and were pragmatic. They didn't concern themselves with unrelated matters.
In just seven days, Li Meng and Helena returned to the labyrinth city, Aukladeo.
