Inside the sterile consultation room, Dr. Hayes pulled up Mu Yunchen's scans on a wall-mounted screen, images of skull, brain tissue, dark patches of swelling, anatomical mysteries that Li Feng didn't fully understand but instinctively feared.
"The swelling from the head trauma is under control," the doctor explained, using a stylus to point at various regions of the scan. "However, we discovered something else. An older injury."
Li Feng frowned. "Older?"
"Yes. A healed fracture. Right frontal bone. It occurred months ago, possibly longer. Maybe even a year or more."
Li Feng blinked.
Months ago?
He searched his memory desperately, frantically combing through every meeting, every trip, every moment he'd spent in Mu Yunchen's shadow. Had there been an accident? A fall? A fight? Something Master had mentioned in passing that he'd been too busy to register?
Nothing came to mind. Nothing at all.
