Caryll was stunned for a moment, then burst out laughing, "That's impossible!"
"Why is it impossible?"
Glenwhite, carrying a huge backpack, walked out of the cave and asked at the same time.
"Because the Wade I know can't do magic, he's just a little fool who only knows how to study!"
Caryll said confidently: "He must be wearing thick glasses now, studying advanced mathematics or chess at St. Paul's School. Maybe he's even being bullied by his classmates, hoping I'll avenge him!"
Both were focused on their conversation as they walked past Wade, completely unaware of the peregrine falcon hidden among the fallen leaves and weeds by the cave entrance.
After all, the peregrine falcon that Wade had transformed into was not yet fully grown; with its wings folded, it was about the size of an ordinary crow, and its dark feathers provided excellent camouflage at night.
Glenwhite said helplessly: "I've told you before, watch less TV. Do you think all good students are nerds like those on TV?"
Caryll retorted righteously, "Wade is—although he might not wear glasses."
"Kid, stop being so stubborn, listen—"
Glenwhite said seriously, "The Wade Grey I'm talking about is the person you know, but he's not some bullied nerd, he's a budding genius alchemist!"
Caryll seemed too shocked to speak for a while.
The two walked along the forest path as they stepped on the thick layer of leaves on the ground, making crunching sounds underfoot.
The forest was very dark, but they didn't use any lighting, yet they still calmly avoided various obstacles on the road.
Wade followed silently in the air behind them, stopping from time to time to keep a distance.
To avoid being discovered, he couldn't get too close, but fortunately, the forest was very quiet, and Wade could clearly hear their conversation.
"Wade Grey is now highly regarded by Dumbledore; he invented the Streaming Mirror, the Book of Friends, and the magic dolls pets, and is a collaborator with the Aslan Magic Workshop."
Glenwhite continued, "The Streaming Mirror and the Book of Friends are actually nothing much; the leader wants to obtain the method of making the magic dolls and even sent people to infiltrate the Aslan Magic Workshop for this purpose."
"But later, our people found out that the production of the magic dolls was divided into dozens of steps, starting from the production of magical materials, all kept completely secret. Even if we bribed one or two employees, we couldn't get this technology."
"Only a very few people in the world fully master the method of making magic dolls. Among them, Wade Grey is the easiest to get and the most valuable."
"The leader hopes that we can get the method of making magic dolls from Wade Grey, preferably convincing him to willingly work for us."
"So, do you understand now, Caryll? Why for this mission, they sent you — a kid who hasn't even graduated from the training camp yet."
The warm and cheerful smile on Caryll's face had long disappeared. He was silent for a long time before he finally spoke in a low voice:
"So what do we do? Take Wade… take Grey away by force?"
Glenwhite shook his head: "More than a month ago, the action team tried to take the risk, but everyone they sent was wiped out… We don't even know who did it."
"Now Wade Grey has returned to Hogwarts. With Dumbledore there, taking Wade Grey away is almost impossible."
"But I heard that we have people inside that school too," Caryll asked cautiously. "Can't we use a Portkey…"
"You fool, tracking a Portkey is easier than you think! Do you want to expose the organization's secret base to a great wizard like Dumbledore?"
Glenwhite glared at him, clearly showing his fear of Dumbledore.
He smacked the young boy on the head and scolded, "It's obvious you didn't pay attention in class — haven't been whipped enough, have you!"
Caryll grinned and said, "Can't blame me — the theory classes are way too boring! So, what does the leader want me to do?"
"Don't be impatient. We need to wait for the right moment. First, change your appearance and find a way to meet Wade Grey… Since you were childhood friends, even with a different face, it should be easy to rebuild that friendship…"
Glenwhite lowered his voice instinctively as he spoke about their plan.
After a while, Caryll asked, "Is there a way for me to transfer to Hogwarts? I'm outside, he's inside — how am I supposed to carry out the mission?"
"Do you think Hogwarts is some kind of… Muggle school?"
Glenwhite said irritably, "Sure, transferring is possible, but I'm afraid the moment you step foot in there, your true identity will be exposed — I heard there's advanced magic that reveals a person's real name."
"A school like Hogwarts, with a thousand years of history, has so many protective spells that no one can keep track of them all. So if you want to sneak in with a fake identity, forget about it!"
Though Glenwhite was scolding Caryll, deep down, he was also cursing the colleague who had taken Caryll away in the first place without cleaning up the aftermath properly.
If it weren't for the uproar caused in the British magical community over the disappearance of an underage wizard, Caryll could have entered Hogwarts openly as a transfer student by now.
That way, a reunion with an old friend would make everything they planned much easier.
Caryll yawned, clearly not taking Glenwhite's words too seriously.
He tilted his head slightly and gazed at the distant lights of the Muggle town. His blue eyes looked exceptionally clear.
They had walked into the town on foot, knocked on the door of a run-down inn in the middle of the night, and then settled in.
The knocking startled the night birds, sending them fluttering into the sky before they gradually descended again.
Two dark brown owls perched on the branches outside the inn's window, their heads swiveling as they searched for mice—until suddenly, another bird appeared behind them.
The owls turned their heads a full 180 degrees and stared seriously at the peregrine falcon behind them, hooting softly.
The peregrine falcon stared right back at them.
Fortunately, these two owls were long-eared owls—slow flyers with gentle temperaments. If they had been eagle owls, they might have already pounced on the falcon to cause trouble.
So, Wade watched as the long-eared owls, which looked like they had squirrel ears, sidestepped a few steps to make room for him. Then, they simply stared blankly at the sparrows perched on a nearby power line.
The peregrine falcon accepted their goodwill and moved forward two steps. The three birds now stood in a row, looking strangely harmonious.
Wade was quite satisfied with his current position—he didn't even need to turn his head to see Caryll and Glenwhite, who had just entered their guest room.
The two of them didn't go to rest immediately after setting down their bags.
Caryll pushed the television aside, popped a bright red lollipop into his mouth, took out a Streaming Mirror, and sat on the bed and continued to observe the outer wall of the Hog's Head Inn.
Glenwhite, on the other hand, took out a pen and a notebook. As he opened it, several photos slipped out and fell to the floor.
He cursed under his breath and bent down to pick them up.
The peregrine falcon narrowed its eyes slightly.
Among the photos, he spotted images of the werewolf Will, Lupin, and the female werewolf Claire.
