Olivia blinked first. Dylan was still dead asleep, and today, just this once, she wanted to make a difference. She wanted to bring him breakfast. Just a little change. Something soft. Something hers.
She tiptoed to Lily's room, where Lily sat at the dressing table, flipping through Pride and Prejudice.
The moment Lily noticed her, she leapt up and pulled her into a hug, as if she'd dreamed of it. "You're awake early."
Olivia wasn't the type to sleep in. During her marriage, she'd wake before dawn, help Dylan get ready for work before he even stirred. But he and his family had never appreciated anything.
Now that she was with Dylan—this Dylan, a different Dylan—it was different. Aside from the nights he stayed up just to use her, she slept deeply. As if his presence were a drug in her bloodstream.
"I want to surprise Dylan this morning," she said.
Lily raised a brow and dragged her to the bed, where they sat together. "Is it his birthday? Did I forget something?"
