Chapter 545 - Chapter 545, No Shame Left

Chapter 545, No Shame Left

The dead flesh formed a complete layer of skin.

"Cough, cough~! Lilith, you guild lapdog, shameless witch! If I survive, I swear I'll kill you!"

Amid the curses, he was thrown into the stone coffin, and the scene faded away.

It was Wu Heng's first time seeing what Lilith looked like.

And the spirit he had just destroyed was nothing short of a villain who committed every imaginable crime.

Wu Heng had always doubted the idea that some people are born evil, but after seeing this spirit's memories, he was starting to believe it.

The scenes also revealed some things about the vampire clan.

Within the clan, there were various families, and Lilith hadn't originally been the leader—she had taken the position through a coup.

There were likely other exiled vampires as well.

Wu Heng released Glenda from within.

She floated nearby, full of curiosity. "So, how was it? Exciting?"

"More surprising than I expected."

Xiaoxiao pressed eagerly, "What did you see? Tell me! I love stories!"

"Have your aunt tell you," Wu Heng said before turning to Glenda. "Don't make it too gory—you'll corrupt the child."

Glenda had just opened her mouth to start, but then stopped herself. "I can't tell a non-bloody version. You do it."

"Just summarize how he did bad things and got exiled," Wu Heng suggested.

Glenda nodded. "Let's go to the study, and I'll tell you there."

"Okay!"

The two spirits floated through the ceiling, leaving Wu Heng to tidy up the room.

He picked up the empty magic soul jar from the floor and stored it away.

...

Wu Heng went downstairs and sat in the living room, flipping through the Book of Necromancy.

The book didn't mention spirits reaching level 18,

but it did talk about the concept of a spirit's "unfinished business."

When a spirit retained its memories from life, it often longed to complete tasks left undone.

Examples included seeking revenge or fulfilling promises.

Some spirits even wanted to revisit places that had made a strong impression on them in life.

Furthermore, the experiences surrounding a spirit's death often influenced what they feared.

"Glenda died in a fire, but she doesn't seem scared of it."

"Xiaoxiao died during the zombie outbreak, but she isn't afraid of zombies. Oh wait—she was trapped in a hidden place and never made it out, so technically, she didn't die directly at the hands of zombies."

Neither of his two spirits seemed to have any lingering trauma, which was a good sign.

"Master, dinner's ready!" Catgirl Robe called from a distance.

Wu Heng stood up and went to the dining room, listening to the maids gossip about their day while eating.

...

The sky darkened as night fell.

After taking a bath, Wu Heng entered the study.

The two spirits were busy with their own tasks.

Wu Heng glanced at the ghostly figure of the housewife. "Glenda."

"Hmm? What is it?" Glenda floated over.

"Do you know what 'unfinished business' is?" Wu Heng asked.

"No idea. Is it a saying from your world?" Glenda asked curiously.

The term had appeared on Glenda's status panel, but it seemed she wasn't aware of it herself.

Wu Heng explained, "Now that you're a spirit, do you have any wishes left over from your life? I can help you fulfill them."

Glenda was about to speak when Xiaoxiao interrupted, "I want a giant stuffed strawberry bear suit! Then we can put a skeleton inside, and it'll be my bodyguard. Isn't that a great idea?"

Xiaoxiao beamed proudly, clearly thinking her idea was genius.

"Your wish will have to wait until you reach level 18. Let your Aunt Glenda go first."

"Oh? Never mind, then." Xiaoxiao floated back to her tablet.

Glenda said, "I used to want a big house for hosting dance parties and a greenhouse filled with flowers. But now that I'm with you and Xiaoxiao, I feel pretty content."

Uh...

It seemed like Xiaoxiao had influenced her.

"I'm talking about something you absolutely have to do, even as a spirit—something you wouldn't feel at peace without doing," Wu Heng clarified.

Glenda thought for a moment, then looked at him in confusion. "I told you before, didn't I? Did you forget?"

Wu Heng frowned, searching his memory.

Something clicked.

Glenda had mentioned several times that if her husband were still alive, she wanted to find him and ask why he had set her and the house on fire.

That had to be it.

"Besides finding your husband?"

"He's not my husband—he's my enemy," Glenda corrected. "And other than that, I just want to collect some books to pass the time."

"Okay!" Wu Heng nodded.

Glenda smiled, then floated back to her book.

Wu Heng sat in his chair, deep in thought about Glenda's situation.

Her unfinished business seemed clear, but whether the man was still alive was uncertain.

If he was alive, things would be straightforward.

They'd find him, ask for the truth, and help Glenda get her revenge.

If he was already dead,

they could search for his corpse and interrogate it if there was any flesh left.

If only bones remained, they could summon him and let Glenda take her revenge.

The challenge was figuring out how to locate him.

As the night grew late, Wu Heng began to feel drowsy.

He hadn't fully rested after last night's zombie battle.

After saying goodnight to the two spirits, he returned to his bedroom to sleep.

...

Late at night.

On a small island in the Emerald Sea,

the moon was nowhere to be seen, but torches illuminated the camp along the shoreline.

A large number of figures had set up camp along the coast, while wyverns of all ages roamed the island's interior.

A small boat approached the shore.

A hooded figure in leather armor disembarked and made his way to the center of the camp. "I've got intel. The pirates of the Emerald Sea have been wiped out by the guild, including the groups we were supposed to trade with."

From within a makeshift tent of animal skins, a voice responded, "All of them? The guild wiped out that many pirates?"

"Apparently, the pirates launched a joint attack on Gold-Silver Island and got slaughtered by the island's defenders. There was some necromancer island lord, and the elven powerhouse Imiro was there too."

The person inside the tent was silent for a moment. "So, we're going back empty-handed? The boss won't be happy."

The informant whispered, "Maybe we could seize a few ships and take their cargo. That way, we won't return empty-handed."

"What about Gold-Silver Island?"

"No way. Rumor has it that the guild left behind strange devices that'll blow anyone to bits if they approach."

The tent fell silent again. "Fine. Have the men gather intel tomorrow. Once we've taken enough loot to cover the deal, we'll head back and give the boss a proper report."

"Understood!"

...

Two days later, in the zombie world.

The radio crackled with low murmurs of conversation.

"The rescue team survived? They were chased by the corpse king and its horde all the way here. Lucky bastards."

"Their radio chatter says Xinfu City saved them."

"Those rescue teams are the worst. They brought their mess to someone else's doorstep and have no shame."

"Watch what you say—you wanna get yourself killed?"

"What, I can't speak the truth? Let them come find me if they've got the guts. I'm Liu Huaqiang!"

Wu Heng, having just arrived, turned on the radio and listened to the chatter about the rescue team.

It seemed saving them wasn't without its benefits—people were speaking well of his side.

...

As he listened, the door creaked open.

Qi Hancai walked in and handed him a list. "The main station's plane will be here in two days to pick up passengers. Take a look and see if we need to order anything for them to bring over."

Wu Heng scanned the list.

"These howitzer shells don't come with launchers?"
