At noon, Kuzu walked ahead with a dark look on his face. The university classes weren't full today; they only had morning sessions. As soon as class ended, Kaguya grabbed Kuzu and pulled him outside, saying she needed to buy something.
Kuzu had no interest in going along with her crazy ideas. He turned his head, shook off Kaguya's hand, and went back on his own.
He was on the road now, but his mood hadn't improved at all.
What exactly was Kaguya up to? Was she really planning to take over my body to come back to life? No way. Or was it just to have a dream that doesn't even exist? Is she out of her mind?
Kuzu couldn't figure it out. Walking along, thinking of Kaguya's victorious smile from that morning, he got so angry he could spit fire.
"I'm going home to play games." Kuzu decided to ignore that woman. No matter what her goal was, in the end, she would always...
If it flies, it won't come back, it said
The goal was that blue, blue sky
...(Blue Bird lyrics)
His phone rang.
Kuzu stopped without thinking, pulled out his phone with only 2% battery left, and Kaguya's name stood out clearly.
"Tsk." He didn't want to answer this call. Kaguya was nuts.
He pressed the answer button and, rolling his Byakugan, said, "What do you want?"
Kaguya's voice came with a laugh: "Come save me."
"Huh???" Kuzu was full of question marks. "Are you crazy? Save you from what? Did you forget toilet paper?"
Even without paper, you could just use Yomotsu Hirasaka, right?
"I got confessed to, but I turned the guy down. He's a delinquent, and now he's blocked me and my friend behind the school. I can't leave. If you don't come, I might get... you know, done in." Kaguya's voice still had that laugh, which made her words sound oddly funny.
Kuzu did find it funny.
He took a deep breath and clenched his fist: "Yeah, right! I fell for your trick!"
With Kaguya's power, even if the world ended, she could survive. A few guys? If Kaguya wanted to leave, not even a company of soldiers could stop her for a second.
No, not even a whole country could stop Kaguya for a second!
Kuzu's face darkened as he prepared to hang up.
But at that moment, Kaguya's voice came again: "In this world, I'm only keeping my immortality. I don't have my other powers. If you don't come, I'll really get caught by them."
At this point, the laugh in her voice faded: "I don't really want to hook up with these ants, so Kuzu, come save me."
Kuzu: "..."
He thought Kaguya was lying, but he had no proof.
And... there did seem to be banging on a door, and he could hear some guy cursing.
"You're insane to seal all your powers." Kuzu wasn't keen on believing it. "You're Otsutsuki Kaguya. You'd willingly seal your powers and become one of those... ants you talk about? That's funnier than Jiraiya turning over a new leaf and stopping Icha Icha Paradise."
Kaguya sat in the school bathroom, watching the door shake as it got pounded, feeling a bit helpless: "Kuzu, I'm just..."
"Beep beep beep—"
The call ended.
"I think I went too far." Kaguya put down her phone, sat helplessly on the toilet, looked at the call log, and saw the door about to give way. "So... what now?"
Bang—
The bathroom door was completely smashed.
A man with a weird hairstyle stood at the door, eyes bloodshot, teeth gritted as he stared at Kaguya: "You bitch, how long can you hide?"
"Low-level creature ruled by desire, what a pain." Kaguya didn't even glance at him and picked up her phone to call Kuzu again.
Too bad, before she could dial, the man stepped forward, snatched her phone, and waved it around proudly: "I heard that. You're calling your boyfriend, but he's ignoring you, right?"
"Heh heh heh..." The man's eyes grew wilder. "A woman as pretty as you..."
"Shut up, ant." Kaguya's face darkened, cold killing intent building up. "Give me back my phone."
The man got scared.
This killing intent was icy cold, but... this wasn't the ninja world. Kaguya's intent was just cold, not overwhelming, and in terms of sheer killing aura, he didn't even match Kakashi.
After getting scared, the man went even crazier.
He smashed the phone on the ground, stomped it to pieces, and as Kaguya's anger grew, he stepped into the bathroom, grabbed her hair with one hand, and slapped her face hard with the other.
Slap—
A sharp slap echoed.
Kaguya's eyes widened in disbelief. In her thousands of years, no one outside the Otsutsuki clan had ever hit her.
"You..." Kaguya reached to use ninjutsu.
Blood... was flowing.
The man stared wide-eyed at his severed arm. The pain hadn't hit yet; his cut-off arm lay on the ground with a few strands of Kaguya's hair.
"Ah... ah!!!" The man stumbled back two steps, fell on his butt, and held his broken left arm, howling in pain.
Blood sprayed, turning the whole bathroom red.
But in front of Kaguya was an invisible barrier that blocked the flying blood.
Seeing this, Kaguya laughed, covered her slapped cheek with her hand, and said in an oddly gentle voice: "Are you a tsundere? You hung up on me, but you still came to save me anyway."
Next to Kaguya, Kuzu looked coldly at the man on the ground, his killing intent bursting out uncontrollably.
His killing aura wasn't something Kaguya—sealed on the moon for millennia—could match. That violent, icy intent covered the whole school; even the bugs here froze in place.
The man clutched his broken arm, lay in the blood, mouth agape as he stared at Kuzu, face full of terror.
Kuzu glanced at Kaguya, took a deep breath: "My phone just died, that's all. And you really sealed your chakra? Are you nuts? Don't you know how you look? If I'd left, were you planning to be someone's plaything?"
Thousands of years ago, Kaguya's looks started wars between two countries. Calling her the Rabbit Goddess wasn't exaggeration. Even blocks of wood like Naruto and Sasuke would space out over her beauty—you can imagine how stunning she was.
"But you're here." Kaguya looked up at Kuzu, her eyes full of... trust.
Kuzu's mouth twitched.
What the hell? Kaguya actually trusted him this much.
For some reason, Kuzu turned his head away, unable to meet her gaze, and looked at the silent man on the ground instead.
His eyes narrowed. Kuzu stepped forward, grabbed the man's neck, and lifted him up: "This is some clichéd urban idol drama plot. In this day and age, there are still punks like you? Oh right, this is a world Kaguya made, not exactly Earth."
"So, how should I punish you... bug." Kuzu's eyes were bright red, vertical pupils reflecting the man's terrified face.
His lips curved into a smile: "I'll toss you into the void space. Let you bleed out slowly till you die. For a bug like you, that's a decent send-off."
Yomotsu Hirasaka opened, a black space portal like a hungry mouth.
Kuzu snorted and threw the man straight into the portal.
As it closed, Kuzu just watched coldly as the man's figure vanished into nothing, feeling nothing inside.
With everything settled, Kuzu turned back to the smiling Kaguya and rolled his Byakugan: "I give up on you."
He really hadn't expected Kaguya to seal her chakra. If he'd just ended the Infinite Tsukuyomi and left, she'd be alone here. With her looks, becoming a temptress would be no issue.
He reached to heal the mark on her face, but Kaguya turned away: "Don't ruin my experience. In this world, it's best not to use chakra."
Kuzu's hand froze in mid-air, and he glanced at the blood on the floor: "That bug's face must have been priceless hearing that."
"It's different." Kaguya said softly.
She took out a handkerchief, wiped the blood from her mouth, leaned on the wall to stand, and held out her hands to Kuzu: "That guy hurt my foot. I can't walk. Carry me."
Kuzu: "..."
He looked down; Kaguya's right foot was indeed bleeding. Kuzu snorted. Should've broken that bug's foot too.
Left hand on her back, right under her legs, Kuzu picked her up: "So, how did you piss off that bug this bad?"
Kaguya looked surprised at Kuzu: "More than that, I thought you'd refuse to carry me."
"Huh?" Kuzu gave her an old-man-on-the-subway look. "Didn't you ask me to?"
Kaguya froze, then covered her mouth and chuckled.
Kuzu rolled his Byakugan. What was wrong with her now?
He took two steps, and with a shift in light and shadow, they were back home. Kuzu dumped her on the sofa. Under Kaguya's stunned gaze, he clapped his hands: "There. Even with your chakra sealed and healing slowed, an hour should do it. You don't need me after that."
Kaguya glanced at the closing space portal, then at Kuzu heading to his room, and let out a long sigh: "Even with human memories from Earth, you're a true blockhead."
She hadn't expected him to open a portal and bring her straight back. Her "carry" wasn't what he thought.
No wonder he agreed so fast.
"Miscalculated. He's just a lump of iron." Kaguya rubbed her forehead.
She had a full twenty-plus years of a man's memories, yet he was still so straight... Wait, maybe that guy never dated in over twenty years?
Kaguya rubbed her forehead, feeling like she'd uncovered the truth.
I just wanted to run a test. Is that so hard... Kaguya sighed deeply. Looks like this will take more time.
Kuzu... Kurama... No surprise there.
Kaguya shook her head and sighed.
