Kuzu and Kaguya are a couple that everyone envies. They live under the same roof. They've been engaged since they were kids. They like each other, but both of them are too proud to show it.
Kuzu and Kaguya are now in their second year of college. Soon they'll reach the legal age to get married and walk into marriage together.
Kuzu stays home a lot, but he's a good guy. Kaguya acts cold to everyone, but she's a good girl.
Everyone knows this... okay, this is the background story that Kaguya made up.
Kuzu didn't tear Kaguya apart right then and there!
That is, until he saw Elden Ring and GTA. Then he decided to forgive her. He even swore that he'd spend the rest of his life dying over and over in this world.
"You really stick to your guns." In class, Kaguya smiled as she looked at Kuzu next to her. Kuzu was having a great time playing on his phone. His smile lit up his face like a kid's.
He looks pretty good.
Oh yeah, Kuzu's current face is the one he created back in the second stage of Otsutsuki. But except for that limited Tsukuyomi, it'll never show up again.
"You don't get it." Kuzu turned to Kaguya with a serious look on his face. "Genshin Impact is a... uh, I forgot the rest, so— aaaaaah!"
Kaguya gave him a weird look. "Did you mix up your DNA memories or something?"
"Did I?" Kuzu tilted his head, confused. Then he just laughed it off. "No big deal. As long as I have games to play."
He picked up his phone with eyes full of wonder. His voice was full of awe. "This is humanity's greatest invention since the twenty-first century began! The smartphone!"
Kaguya rested her chin on her hand and watched him quietly. "Yeah... whatever makes you happy."
What else was he supposed to do? Kuzu made a face and turned back to his phone.
Kaguya... she kept staring at Kuzu's side profile. The corners of her mouth curved up without her noticing.
The next second, she seemed to realize something. She covered her mouth with her hand. A blush crept onto her cheeks. But she couldn't look away.
"Whatever makes you happy..."
Her voice was soft.
"Huh?" Kuzu turned his head by instinct. But all he saw was Kaguya's casual smile.
He shrugged it off and went back to his phone.
In the classroom under the lights, the girl watched the boy.
Up front, the professor—acting as the college teacher—clutched his chest. He looked down at the two with a face that said he was totally into their vibe.
The classmates nearby stared at them with envy. Everyone felt jealous, no matter who they were.
These two... they're so sweet it hurts.
Kuzu shivered all of a sudden. His hand slipped during a move. He almost dropped his phone.
He looked up in confusion. He glanced at Kaguya, who had that knowing look on her face. Then he checked out the teacher lecturing in the distance and all the students paying attention...
"I just felt a chill." Kuzu pouted and eyed Kaguya. "Were you talking trash about me just now?"
"Me?" Kaguya pointed at herself. She nodded with a smile. "Yeah, I was thinking about what our kids might look like down the line. Maybe a cute little fox."
"Truth is, I can't have a fox." Kuzu thought for a second. "I've got a real body now. In the second stage, I'm just like any human. So if I had kids, they'd be human too."
He shrugged after that. "But that's not gonna happen."
Kaguya looked confused. "Why not? Don't you want kids?"
"Are you nuts, Kaguya..." Kuzu looked totally done. "Even with this body, I started as the Tailed Beast Nine Tails. I don't have a gender. No male parts, no female parts either."
"The reason my voice sounds like a guy's is just because the old Sage of Six Paths rubbed off on me. Deep down, I lean more male." With that, Kuzu grabbed his phone and went back to gaming.
"Oh?" Kaguya rested both hands on her chin. She gave him a half smile. "Kuzu, do you think I mean the real world?"
Kuzu froze mid-motion. He stared at her. "Then... what do you mean?"
Kaguya flashed another knowing smile. But she didn't say more. She turned to her book and started studying for real.
Kuzu was full of question marks.
But the next second, he felt another creepy vibe. And this one was even worse than the last.
Kuzu stared at Kaguya in shock. He stood up without thinking. "What are you up to?"
This creepy feeling was new to him. It wasn't hate or kindness. His sense for good and evil picked it up, but he couldn't figure out what emotion it was. That was what scared him most.
He could sense good and evil.
He was over a thousand years old. He'd felt every kind of emotion in his long life. But now he was picking up something totally unknown.
Kaguya, what the heck are you planning?
Kuzu balled his fists. His eyes went cold on their own.
But Kaguya just turned to him with a light smile. She tucked her hair behind her ear. "It's a secret."
This was the whole reason she made this world. There was no way she'd tell Kuzu. And the big thing was, if she did, he'd drop the limited Tsukuyomi and bolt right away.
Truth be told, Kaguya knew why Kuzu was sticking around.
It wasn't really about the games or shows. It was more like he was keeping an eye on her. Or making sure she wouldn't hurt the ninja world. Games and anime were just a bonus... or maybe the other way around. Either way, playing games wasn't his only goal.
Kaguya knew that. That's why she was being so bold.
The two just stared each other down. One smiled easy, the other looked icy. Neither gave an inch.
Right then, someone stepped between them. It was the professor.
The professor wedged himself in with a sour look. He snapped at them. "If this fight of yours isn't headed for a breakup, then zip it and sit down now. I'm still teaching... don't flaunt your romance in my class. I don't care how good your grades are."
Kuzu whipped his head to the professor in disbelief. He pointed at himself, then at Kaguya. His eyes screamed 'are you blind?'
But before he could speak, Kaguya grabbed his arm and pulled him down to sit. "Sorry, professor. We were just arguing about having kids. It won't happen again. We'll talk about the rest at home."
Kuzu: ???
Professor: ???
Classmates: ???
What the heck? Run that by me again—what was it about?
The professor looked totally lost. The classmates were slack-jawed.
"No, I..." Kuzu wanted to snap, but Kaguya beat him to it. She looked at him and tilted her head like she was confused. "Weren't we just talking about kids?"
Kuzu: ...
He really couldn't argue with that.
Damn! No comeback.
Kuzu was mad enough to feel it in his balls.
Yeah, he had them. In this limited Tsukuyomi world, Kuzu was a guy. A real one.
Kaguya smiled and looped her arm through his. Her grin got bolder.
